00:00Diversifying the export market can help reduce the impact of Donald Trump's administration

00:07by pushing back 24% on imports from Malaysia to the United States, said Abu Sufian Yaacob,

00:15an economist from the University of Malaysia, Kelantan.

00:19It is said that Trump's administration will have an impact on Malaysia, which is among

00:24the main trading partners of the United States, with an export value of around Rp198.6 billion

00:31last year, or 13.2% of the country's total exports.

00:38Idham Razak from the University of Technology Mara also sees that diversifying the market

00:42can be a key to reducing the impact of Trump's decision.

00:46Idham also encourages Malaysia to take advantage of trading blocs other than the United States,

00:51such as sharing a comprehensive regional economy, as well as rejecting the basis of unilateral

00:57protection to facilitate the development of the country.

01:02Meanwhile, Abu Sufian said the government also needs to be vigilant in the capital market

01:07through the establishment of a more flexible financial policy, the U.S. reimbursement tariff.

01:14He said the Bank of Malaysia and Suruanjai Securities also need to monitor the situation

01:19so that there is no surprise or pressure from investors.
