In this video, I show how to turn off video autoplay and GIF autoplay on Twitter | X (PC). Each user has their specific preferences for navigating and browsing platforms on the Internet, and while some enjoy seeing videos on Twitter | X, others prefer navigating the platform without the videos automatically playing. This is especially important to people with low end computers or with a low Internet bandwidth.
To do this, follow these steps:
1. Open Twitter (X)
2. Click "More"
3. "Click "Settings and Privacy"
4. Click "Accessibility"
5. Click "Data Usage"
6. Click "Autoplay"
7. Click "Never"
This will turn off autoplay of videos and also of GIFs on Twitter | X on the device. If you want to have a greater control on whether videos should play on certain types of Internet connection (such as Wi Fi, or mobile network), it is possible to change these more nunaced settings in the mobile app version of Twitter | X.
