In this video, I show how to fix the "DirectX encountered an recoverable error" DirectX error in Duty: Warzone. In this video, I'll show to fix this error in both the Steam and the BattleNet platforms; this means that, independently of which platform you choose to play, you will be able to use the method of this video to fix your game. "DirectX encountered an unrecoverable error" is a game-breaking error that causes the game to crash, often stopping players from playing in matches of the game, which can be a frustrating experience, as it can happen even in ranked matches. It also seems to affect players randomly, being impossible to predict when the crash will happen next, which breaks the immersion and disrupts enjoyment.

00:47 Explanation of the Importance of the Launch Command
01:04 Second Part of the Fix

To fix this problem, follow these steps.

First Part of the Fix
(Steam)

1. Open your Steam library
2. Right-click "Call of Duty"
3. Click "Properties"
4. Click "Launch Options"
5. Write: -d3d11
6. Close the "Properties"

First Part of the Fix
(BattleNet)

1. Open your BattleNet games library
2. Click "Call of Duty"
3. Click "Options"
4. Click "Game Settings"
5. Check "Additional command line arguments"
6. Write: -d3d11
7. Click "Done"

This problem is potentially caused by an instability related to DirectX 12, which may be related to how it is being used by some video cards. Nevertheless, by switching to DirectX 11, we are able to prevent this problem, and have a more stable experience in Call of Duty: Warzone. By using this launch option (or launch command), we are making Call of Duty: Warzone run in DirectX 11, instead of DirectX 12, which helps to prevent this problem.

Second Part of the Fix

1. Quit any and every software you may be using that interferes with graphical properties
Examples: MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner, among others, essentially any software that is capable of overclocking GPU, changing frame rates, and interfering with graphics in any way

This includes software that are used to overclock GPU, to limit frame rates, and any other software that interferes with graphics. These programs are known to also cause this error in Call of Duty: Warzone, so make sure to quit all of them before launching the game. Moreover, remember, than when you simply close the window of a certain program, you are not necessarily actually closing the program or quitting the software. Pay attention to ensure the software is not running in the background, otherwise it may still cause the problem in the game as well. There is nothing wrong with these programs, and they are very useful for several games. However, in the specific case of Call of Duty: Warzone, some of these programs may interfere with the game in a way to increase the probability of encountering this problem.
