00:05Senate to support her re-election campaign, saying it damages the institution's credibility.
00:11Escudero issues a statement the day after Marcos accused him of refusing to sign the
00:15contempt order for Marcos Lacanilau, the envoy who represented the Philippines during former
00:20President Rodrigo Duterte's surrender to the International Criminal Court.
00:23He says under the Senate rules, quote,
00:26The power of the committee chairperson to order the arrest or detention of any resource person
00:30cited in contempt is subject to the approval of the Senate President.
00:34He also says, quote,
00:35I did not refuse to sign the contempt order of Ambassador Marcos Lacanilau.
00:40Senator Marcos released her statement and flaunted to the media her signed arrest and detention order
00:45even before I could see, much less, receive a copy of it.
00:49Escudero emphasizes he will not allow the Senate or the office of the Senate President to be used
00:54for further political interests, especially by those seeking re-election.
00:58Meantime, Justice Department officials say an internal memorandum shown by Marcos in a committee
01:03hearing was, quote, fake and manufactured. The Senator now dismisses the document as, quote,
01:08not material.
