Bengaluru, April 14, 2025 (ANI): Slamming BJP leader CT Ravi’s questioning on the categorisation of Muslim as a minority, Karnataka IT Minister Priyank Kharge on April 14 said that the problem is that the BJP and CT Ravi do not understand Constitution. “Muslims are minorities as per the Constitution. Why don't they (BJP) understand the Constitution? The problem is that the BJP and CT Ravi do not understand the Constitution. Today is a good day when Narendra Modi should also declare that like Karnataka Congress govt we will also allocate budget based on population of STs/SCs...,” said Priyank Kharge. “Caste census is in our manifesto. If people think that it has not been done scientifically, then there are always ways to correct it. Why is everybody jumping the gun and saying that it is not scientific when we don't even know what is there in it,” he added.

00:00Muslims are minorities as per the constitution, they don't understand the constitution, let them read the constituent assembly debates where very categorically the parliament has declared that they are minorities, alright, so I think the problem is with Mr. C. D. Ravi and the BJP is they don't understand the constitution nor do they want to read the constitution properly and very clearly whether it is any commission that seeks to empower
00:30the SCs, STs, backwards, Adivasis and socially backward people, BJP has a problem with it. Actually today is a very good day, today is Babasaya Bambitkar's Jayanti, Narendra Modi should declare that like the government of Karnataka, we will also allocate budget based on the population of the SC, STs. Will they do it? Our stand is very clear on the caste census.
00:55What is their stand on the caste census? See, this government in the centre or the BJP over here are not guided by their own manifestos or anything, they are guided by RSS, they are stooges of RSS and they will do and dance to the tune of RSS and in RSS philosophy or ideology there is no equality, there are a lot of sections of the society that are eliminated in their thought process.
01:23Sir, and also the Lingayat and Vokalika communities are also against this caste census.
01:28See, we don't know what is there in it. If they have any reservations, let them, let anybody. It's not only Vokalika, Lingayat or anybody else. If anybody has a problem, it's up for public debate. Once, if it seems unscientific, let them tell what has been unscientific.
01:45If there are any corrections that need to be made, we will make it. But jumping the gun and saying everything is not right is not correct, right? We ourselves have not read the report. It's been only two days. There are written volumes of that report. How are we supposed to know what is in what is not there?
02:01What is the difference between, you know, the cabinet ministers?
02:04Says who? Where do you get your information from? I am in the cabinet. None of my cabinet colleagues protested or voiced their opinion against it. It's there in our manifesto, the caste census. So what is wrong? If people think that it has not happened scientifically, there are ways to correct it.
02:23So why is everybody jumping the gun and saying that it is unscientific and it is not right when we don't even know what is there in it?
