01:11he was such a a fawn in the size of barcelona i think barcelona showed enough frailties tonight
01:18to make me think that my prediction i don't think they'll have enough to win it um there was enough
01:23times that they were carved open the high line i i don't think i think that high line against
01:28a munich would have paid for intermelan in the next round i think it could get them in trouble
01:33but borussia dortmund you know they leave the pitch tonight having lost the tie um but look at the
01:41like i said they've done their their fans very very proud and that follows a battling performance
01:46against vayan in the league at the weekend as well owen so that will give them belief for the rest of
01:52the season perhaps that they can go on and qualify for the champions league yeah and that's that's so
01:57important to this football it's a massive football club we know they were obviously in the final last
02:00season niko kovac did a brilliant job today losing four nil in that first leg and then coming home
02:05with you know a team that hasn't lost in 24 games and to put in that performance in front of these
02:11i said before again this is one of the best teams you'll ever play in and they started brilliant
02:15um got the first goal grassy obviously with the hat trick they can be really proud it's just a
02:20shame they conceded for in in barcelona if they didn't just you know this was game one for them but
02:26um impressive to be four nil down and find a way to make that an interesting game neither kovac
02:31can be really proud tonight they played fantastic yeah him and his team can hold their heads up high
02:38this evening winning 3-1 in that second leg barca so dominant in the first they have gone through
02:455-3 on aggregate to book their place in the semi-finals so they are still on the road to munich and they
02:53join psg in the semi-finals but what a night it was at villa park una emery's side can also
03:03hold their heads up high following a brilliant second half display they won 3-2 on the night
03:09but psg threw 5-4 on aggregate so it will be psg against arsenal or real madrid who meet at the
03:16bernabeu tomorrow and barcelona will face either inter or bayern and the nerazzurri 2-1 up in that

04:15this is how european football can flip between the legs you know you're 4-0 up you're strolling
04:20it's only half time and and a goal can change and teams can change we've been there and this is
04:26something that you have to manage and we've seen it in the other game as well where where psg
04:31nicked that last third goal you know and that just changed the dynamics of the game if they wouldn't
04:36have got that last week villa will probably still be playing tonight and maybe into the semi-finals
04:41you know so young players will learn a lot from tonight i think shesney um showed it a little bit
04:47of um a rashness early on i think we know him saying terstegen comes back here for the semi-final
04:52that strengthens them um i still think that intermilan or by munich playing this team in the
04:58semi-final would win the game well let's have a look at how it all started because dortmund caused
05:04them problems didn't they from the beginning of the match on garassi having some chances but but
05:10the opening goal came from a chesney mistake yeah pascal gross does brilliantly makes that late
05:14midfield run they're trying to play offside there that's i mean which is it seems mad but that's
05:18how they do it chesney comes off his line he's really late and gives away the penalty and then i
05:23think that pretty much opened the floodgates really for dortmund to be fair when you need a goal you
05:29don't think you're gonna do that lindsay i mean there's a penenka and there's a penenka they just
05:33give him what's at stake that is bold i mean he's been absolutely amazing in this in this
05:39competition and goal scoring machine especially against barcelona but i think for the fans once
05:44they got the first one then you sort of think you know can we get a second and once you get a second
05:48then everybody starts to say whoa you know we could be onto something here it gave the fans a bit of a
05:53belief didn't it and they were attacking the yellow wall in the second half which also got off to the
05:59the perfect start from a corner joe yeah yeah i mean again attacking the yellow wall like i would
06:04say this is a fantastic place to play your foot when i was all there they saw like the cop where
06:07they're willing it into the goal a deep ball at the back garassi you know he does what if you look
06:12at him here he goes for the front post and he switches on like all good strikers gets in that
06:16position of maximum opportunity at the far post just pops it in and that place would have been rocking
06:21and rolling then at that point you know and barcelona's uh would have had certainly jitters
06:26it's a good set piece he keeps it alive there you know and he just tucks it away at the far post and
06:31look at him this is that we all believe now we're going to see one of the big we did see a great
06:35european night but before that time we're going to see one of the great great european comebacks yeah
06:40you felt it was on at that point but barca regained their their three goal lead but but they didn't
06:46actually score tonight which is an achievement in itself for dortmund no but to be fair they started
06:51to get a bit more hold of the game when pedro came on and we see bentley there played as a left
06:55sided center back in the three and he did brilliant actually over over the two two ties but here he's
07:01just he's on side obviously but he i don't know how he kicks it into his own goal to be fair it's a
07:06brilliant finish but the problem is he's a defender and he goes in his own goal but i think pedro came
07:10on and gave him a little bit more control they got higher up the pitch fermin crosses it
07:13but spainy just makes a mess of that what's he would do that he's there too late you need to
07:19sprint there and as the sprints coming to end you can see it's going to cross you've got to start
07:23turning your body and rotating and then you can clear it even if it's your weak foot he's just too
07:28late he switches off and he got punished but then garassi completed his hat trick becoming the top
07:34scorer in the champions league this season with his 13th goal overtaking rafinha yeah and what about
07:39duranville came off came off the bench that's brilliantly here i love this 2v1 shift see you
07:45later that is lovely really really good and to be fair rajo makes a mess of it but a brilliant finish
07:51from garassi and you think obviously rafinha was top scorer levandowski second i think there'd be a lot
07:57of teams looking at garassi scored all those goals at stuttgart now at dormant yeah big physical
08:01presence natural goal scorer clocks onto it and that's a that's a great strike yeah and a rachel again
08:07similar thing i was in it like there's the balls coming across from all young defenders watching
08:11there you've got you've got to open your body up and you wish you click even if you're off balance

08:41to get she has to get new cars to win at some point i'm champ you're not in the champion you've
08:45still got great memories of that before with chef shenko mbappe and pavlidis just this season for
08:51for benfica as well and tino was the first so there you go the fifth player but that puts him
08:56him top of the charts i guess the frustrating thing for him owen and for dortmund is that he
09:01could have in have even more this season in the champions league and just wishes that he's taken
09:06some of those chances in the first leg because that could have been the difference yeah he had
09:10a couple he had a couple sitters really um and you have to credit them you know they create a lot
09:15of good chances over the two ties and we said barca play this way for a reason they played that high
09:19line and teams are going to create chances against them but i don't think hansi flick really cares
09:23because because they score so many goals going the other way and obviously the joel's right they
09:28looked a little bit vulnerable today and i think looking at the semi-final i think teams will look
09:33at that and think right we you know we can get at this defense that will give uh bayan and certainly
09:38into milan a bit of encouragement as they head into their second leg of the quarter final hansi flick's
09:44side though are still on course for a treble this season they're into the semi-finals but plenty this
09:51evening for niko kovac to be proud of after his side won on the night
09:55semi-finals of the champions league but their 24 game unbeaten run was ended by dortmund tonight who
10:04put up a real fight and pascal growth played extremely well in a great performance for the
10:10black and yellows we can hear from him with emma dodds well pascal commiserations on the overall
10:17result of the tie um it was an almighty effort from the dortmund team though how do you sum up
10:22your emotions just now yeah we we knew we had a tough result from the away game but i think we came
10:29here full of hope because we know in the stadium is everything possible uh we knew we need a early
10:34goal and we need to fight and play forward be praised and i think we did all of that uh we had
10:40momentum we had a couple of sides like always against that high line but i think we played uh
10:46really well and yeah the on goal was a little bit uh unfortunate killed a little bit of momentum but
10:52we still kept going scored the third one and yeah in the end we had a couple half chances we scored a
10:57fourth one uh we believed until the last second the stadium did you felt the fans did um in the end
11:04we out uh because of the game away uh but it was a good performance today talk us through the penalty
11:10instant you mentioned there that you wanted to get the early goal and you were obviously key to winning
11:13that yes i i i tried to get in front of him i know he's going down i tried to uh play to put my body
11:22between the ball and the keeper and i think i did you never know if you're offside with them but
11:27i wasn't so i knew straight away it will be a penalty what were the conversations that were had
11:32amongst the players after the first leg heading into this time yeah we knew we didn't uh play well
11:38there we played poor we conceded too many goals probably but from when we watch it back quite simple
11:44mistakes quite stuff we can um yeah we don't need to concede and on that level you get punished and
11:51we need to do that much better much braver uh help each other more um but also attack their high line
11:58uh not always with the first wave maybe with the second wave when they stop and we did all that
12:04um but yeah it was was not enough today but today was a good game commiserations thank you for talking
12:10thank you very much well they put up such a good fight barcel though always had that two goal cushion
12:17following a such a dominant performance in the first leg but that barca high line it was mentioned
12:23throughout the the commentary there dortmund really were able to try and take advantage of
12:28it several times so just just couldn't take the opportunities i mean anytime you get time on the
12:33ball that's too too much distance there for adiemi they're facing they're facing their goal and then
12:38they're in trouble because there's runners coming from everywhere listen hansie fix won the champions
12:43league doing this he believes in it's his way of playing he's not going to change here
12:46but as soon as there's a look at your feet left foot look at their body language sorry the body shape the
12:51barcelona back for they know they're going to run and a race if it's a good ball no matter how fast
12:55you are or how good positioning you are it's difficult to do it's a hard night's work for that
13:00for them yeah i mean you look how high high they are you know i've i've been in there as a fullback
13:06and you're looking across the line thinking are we on side are we not they must do this in training
13:10every day because they do it brilliantly obviously there's a lot of risk with it but they're committed
13:15to this link they did it from the first minute where they conceded the pen you know they did it
13:19towards the end when they i think brandt scores here and that offside line that that's why they
13:25didn't score that goal but you you look at this lens i mean they've played teams offside 257 times
13:33look at the next team lindsay they are miles ahead that is that's out of this world and the thing is
13:39if they win the champions league again like you did with bayern you can guarantee every coach is going
13:42to start copying this okay it's high risk but it's high reward they're the highest scorers you know in the
13:47top five it's how you execute it and it is and the thing is when you play top teams you know you
13:52think you'd get late midfield runners or you get people bending their runs but they must practice
13:57it so much that they you know they seem to get it right i think martin came in at left back he looked
14:02like he struggled a bit when balder comes back in and terstegen's back in i think they might have it
14:06down a little bit better but look high risk high reward hansi flick's been here and done this before
14:12i think he believes this group they can get it done they just have to execute on the night but if you think
14:16about it being inter or or bayern munich next joe how would they be looking to exploit that and
14:23could they do a lot more damage than borussia dortmund i think they can do a lot more damage than
14:28borussia dortmund i think i think what having terstegen come in you know recruitment when you play this
14:33way right so shesney's coming in because they've had an injury crisis and for the first goal your
14:38goalkeeper has to be quick off his line you know because if the high line's high the goalkeeper's position
14:43is then five ten yards up that's what they got caught out there and that sort of sparked the game
14:47into life i think terstegen plays to that tonight i think he's in a better position he comes and takes
14:52it or he certainly doesn't lunge in um listen how do you get past it uh talking to owen off there i
14:58think i think you you you play with your center forward just off the back of the um of barcelona's
15:05um back four and then you go with like four midfielders in behind them and and they have to
15:10be runners and they have to time in any time any of the if you go over back three or two in the
15:15midfield or four any time you go good possession and they get the ball and they're in any kind of
15:20space it's got to be looked up and it's got to be fed into the end you have to have four runners
15:25you know you have to go like in that clip there with brand it has to come from midfield as you bend your
15:29run you know and and and if you do and you have to work on it listen whoever they play has to work
15:36on it weeks before the game and and do it as well as you can but they are superb at what they do that's
15:41why they're where they are but it's still it's still risky what about for insert playing with those
15:46two up top in teram and martinez because they're they're so dangerous oh and aren't they and and and
15:52were in that first leg against bayern munich take that that 2-1 lead into the second leg yeah i mean
15:58to be fair both goals they scored were amazing lindsay both started from the goalkeeper how about
16:03that first set from teram into martinez i mean that is ridiculous to do that with outside of your foot
16:07in a in a in a championship quarterfinal i mean tomo smola did brilliant comes on just find space
16:14like he always does he's just a master of just sitting in a little pocket of space good finish
16:18that's one one you know you think oh it's game on and then inter score brilliant goal really is again
16:23from the keeper rolls it out to borella how about that for for a cutback and for tazy with it with a
16:28brilliant goal i mean whoever you know plays barca in this semi-final it's going to be a heck of a
16:33game because both teams are brilliant attacking players um and they're going to create chances but
16:38i think again you'll see barca commit to this the high line the front three pedro will be back in
16:43terstegen will be back in martinez will probably back in for arajo and they'll probably be a little
16:48bit more solid okay well two of the semi-finalists are confirmed with barcelona and psg through and
16:57tomorrow the other two places will be decided we are down to the last eight on the road
17:05to munich martinez and in to have stolen the lead victor's at the end and he's smuggled in again
17:14they will be taking a lead back to milan when he's three in the wall rice goes round it
17:19that is absolutely brilliant it's rice again oh my goodness
17:27well arsenal's second leg against real madrid gets going on tnt sports one from seven o'clock
17:42tomorrow and inter take a two-one lead into the second leg of their quarterfinal against bayern
17:48that one from 7 30 on two on thursday manchester united rangers and tottenham will all try to
17:56pick their place in the semi-finals of the europa league all three of those quarterfinals very finely
18:02poised and chelsea have one big foot in the semi-finals of the conference league they look to finish
18:08the job against legia warsaw that's on tnt sports 4 we've got two huge women's champions league semi-finals
