New Delhi, April 17, 2025 (ANI): While speaking on SC hearing on Waqf Amendment Act, Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain said that “When we filed a petition in the Supreme Court regarding the Waqf board, the Court asked us why we came directly to the Supreme Court and suggested that we should go to the High Courts, and we didn't get any interim relief even when more than 140 petitions have been filed in different High Courts. Now, what are the criteria that a different side comes to the Supreme Court, and they were not only heard but also things related to an interim order were said? For the last 13 years - the hearing of the Hindus' Endowment Act of 4 states concerning the takeover of Hindu temples was going on in the Supreme Court, and recently, the Supreme Court said that these cases should be in the High Court and asked why should we (Supreme Court) listen to such cases. My suggestion is that all the cases (regarding the Waqf Amendment Act) should be taken to a single High Court and a constitutional bench be formed to hear the cases within 6 months.”
