00:00Typically, when mentioning the descendants of Adam and Eve, the first thought that occurs
00:05to people is the story of Cain and Abel.
00:08However, many often forget the other biblical accounts that describe the other sons and
00:13daughters of Adam and Eve.
00:15In this video, I will focus my attention specifically on the daughters of Adam and Eve.
00:21Who were these daughters?
00:23How many of them existed?
00:24Using sources such as the Book of Jubilees, the Holy Bible, and ancient traditions,
00:30I will explore and discuss the history of these daughters of Adam.
00:34So, if this topic has piqued your interest, don't hesitate to give it a like and leave
00:39your comment.
00:41Follow along with me for this additional content, The Untold Story of Adam and Eve's Daughters.
00:48A topic that is rarely discussed, often overlooked by theologians, biblical scholars, and even
00:54those curious about sacred scriptures, is the mystery surrounding the daughters of Adam
00:59and Eve.
01:00Typically, people read the Bible and focus on the more well-known sons of Adam and Eve,
01:06Cain, the firstborn, and Abel, the second.
01:09However, they often forget that Adam and Eve had many daughters, as the biblical text in
01:15Genesis, chapter 5, verses 4 and 5, reveals intriguing information about the sons and daughters
01:22of Adam.
01:22The text mentions that after bearing Seth, Adam lived for 800 years, during which he fathered
01:29sons and daughters, totaling 930 years of life until his death.
01:34The Bible does not provide the names of Adam and Eve's daughters, but there are other texts
01:39from ancient Jewish traditions that specify some of their names.
01:43Thus, based on the Book of Jubilees, I will mention the names of some of Adam and Eve's daughters
01:49according to these ancient Jewish traditions, which offer insights into these less explored
01:54figures.
01:55For those unfamiliar, the Book of Jubilees is also known as the, Little Genesis, due to
02:00its connection with the word, Jubilee, which means joy.
02:04It is part of the Old Testament Apocrypha and narrates the creation of the world, the formation
02:09of Adam and Eve after the fall, and tells stories of various Old Testament characters, primarily
02:15from the Book of Genesis.
02:17While it is not a recent text, the oldest manuscript to which we have access dates back to approximately
02:23700 BCE.
02:26However, this manuscript is a copy of an even older work.
02:30Some scholars associate the Book of Jubilees with the Book of Chronicles, suggesting that
02:35the scribe Ezra may have written the text.
02:38However, the Book of Jubilees claims that its true author was Moses, who received a revelation
02:44from an angel on Mount Horeb.
02:46It is noteworthy that the Bible mentions that Moses spent 40 days and 40 nights on Mount Horeb
02:52without eating or drinking water in the presence of God.
02:56Historically, due to the antiquity of the text, we cannot dismiss the possibility that Moses was
03:02the actual author.
03:03The Book of Jubilees enjoys significant presence in Israelite culture, with several copies distributed
03:10among the people.
03:11Additionally, it mentions another mysterious apocryphal book, the Book of Enoch, which
03:17was widely known to the early Christians and even formed part of the biblical canon used
03:22by them.
03:23This underscores the importance of not dismissing the Book of Jubilees, as it contains events
03:28that align with the stories of the Bible.
03:30Now, returning to Adam and Eve.
03:33According to various ancient Semitic Abrahamic traditions, the first daughter of Adam and Eve
03:39was named Avan.
03:40Avan, in Phoenician Hebrew, carries the meaning of potency, or simply vice.
03:46She was, therefore, the wife and sister of Cain, who was also a son of Adam and Eve.
03:52According to the Book of Jubilees, she bore children to Cain, and one of those children
03:57was named Enoch.
03:58The construction of a city named after his son is mentioned in the Bible as one of Cain's
04:03accomplishments after his banishment due to the murder of Abel.
04:07The city was called Enoch, in honor of his son.
04:11The name Avan is mentioned in the Book of Jubilees and in other Abrahamic texts.
04:16However, in some of these texts, such as the, Cave of Treasures, she is called Kelima.
04:21Therefore, Kelima was the wife of Cain and the first daughter of Adam and Eve, according
04:27to these traditions.
04:29According to several ancient Semitic traditions, the second daughter of Adam and Eve was Azura.
04:36Azura was the wife of Seth, the third son of Adam and Eve, born after the death of Abel.
04:42The name, Seth, has etymological roots in Hebrew, and its meaning may be associated with
04:48the idea of, compensation, or, substitution.
04:51This is relevant because, after the murder of Abel by his brother Cain, Seth is considered
04:57by Adam and Eve as a substitute or divine compensation for the loss of Abel.
05:02He is seen as a righteous and pious descendant, and it is through his lineage that the biblical
05:07narrative suggests humanity continue to worship God.
05:10Furthermore, Seth's genealogy is significant in the Bible because it leads to Noah, who played
05:16a crucial role in the flood story and the survival of humanity.
05:21Thus, Seth and his wife Azura were a link in the genealogical chain that connects the creation
05:26of humanity to later events and important figures in the Judeo-Christian tradition.
05:32The Book of Jubilees presents an interesting detail by stating that Azura was initially Abel's
05:37wife and became a widow after his death.
05:39After Seth came of age, he married Azura, and from their union, the lineage of Seth and
05:46Seth himself, who became the initial patriarch of this lineage, descended.
05:51The Book of Jubilees informs us that Azura was born in the sixth week of the fourth jubilee
05:56and married her brother Seth in the fifth week of the fifth jubilee.
06:00In the fourth year of the sixth week, she gave birth to a son and named him Enos.
06:05Subsequently, when Enos grew up, he married in the third week of the seventh jubilee with
06:11Noam, who was his sister and also the daughter of Seth and Azura.
06:16Enos is one of Seth and Azura's sons and is known for his pious descent and devotion to
06:21the worship of God.
06:24The main reference to Enos in the Bible is in Genesis 5 verses 6-11, which describes his
06:30genealogy as follows.
06:31Seth lived 105 years and begot Enos.
06:36After he begot Enos, Seth lived 807 years and begot sons and daughters.
06:42In total, Seth lived 912 years, and he died.
06:48Enos lived 90 years and begot Kainan.
06:52After he begot Kainan, Enos lived 815 years and begot sons and daughters.
06:57In total, Enos lived 905 years, and he died.
07:04The main characteristic attributed to Enos is his practice of prayer and the invocation
07:09of the name of God.
07:11The following verse in Genesis 4 verse 26 states,
07:15At that time people began to call on the name of the Lord.
07:18This passage suggests that Enos played an important role in promoting worship and devotion to God
07:24in his time, marking a period of spiritual and religious seeking among the descendants
07:29of Seth.
07:31So, according to the ancient book of Jubilees and Semitic Jewish tradition, Kain married
07:36his sister Avan and gave rise to the lineage of Kain.
07:40Seth, on the other hand, married his sister Azura and gave rise to the lineage of Seth.
07:45You might have been wondering how many sons and daughters Adam and Eve had.
07:51The biblical text indicates that they had many sons and daughters, especially considering
07:56that Adam lived for over 800 years.
08:00In fact, Adam and Eve were the most fertile humans of their time.
08:05Eve, as the first woman, was extremely fertile, and Adam was also very fertile.
08:10Therefore, according to these ancient traditions, they had hundreds and hundreds of sons and
08:16daughters throughout their lives.
08:18In modern times, according to the Guinness World Records, the woman who held the record
08:24for the highest number of children in human history, as far as we know, was Valentina Vasilyev.
08:30She reportedly passed away at the age of 76, leaving behind 69 surviving children, with
08:36only two dying at a young age.
08:39According to Guinness World Records records, Valentina Vasilyev underwent a total of 27
08:44pregnancies, resulting in 16 pairs of twins, 7 sets of triplets, and 4 sets of quadruplets.
08:52While there are other reports of women with 50 or even 60 children, Valentina Vasilyev remains
08:58the recognized record holder.
09:00However, what I want to emphasize is that Eve surpassed all these women in fertility, as she
09:06is considered the most fertile woman in the history of humanity.
09:09So, if a woman today or even a hundred years ago were capable of giving birth to about 69
09:15children, we can only imagine what Eve achieved, as she lived much longer, reaching the impressive
09:21age of 900 years according to the biblical narrative.
09:24Furthermore, according to traditions, Adam and Eve had numerous children, estimated to be around 70
09:31or even more, according to some speculations.
09:35Considering their robust health, strength, and fertility, as well as the context of the time that
09:40favored procreation, it's possible they had hundreds of sons and daughters.
09:45In the book of Genesis, chapter 6, verse 1, it is mentioned that as the descendants of Adam
09:51multiplied on the earth, many beautiful daughters were born.
09:56A less mentioned curiosity is that both the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve had their
10:01own ethnic descent, as Adam and Eve were originally mixed race.
10:06This contributed to the ethnic diversity of humanity, which, while exhibiting numerous ethnicities
10:12and races, all share a common origin in Adam and Eve.
10:16The study of mitochondrial DNA, known as mitochondrial Eve, reinforces this idea, indicating that all
10:24of humanity shares a common ancestry despite the ethnic and racial diversity we see in the
10:29world today.
10:31Therefore, the mitochondrial genetic study revealed that all people descend from the same woman,
10:36contributing to the richness of ethnic and racial diversity in our world, all sharing a
10:41common connection with our ancestors.
