00:00Hey, what's up? It's Babs, your new midday homegirl from Wild 94.1, and today I am sitting with my girl, Miss Veronica Vega.
00:08Hi! What's up, girl?
00:11Crazy morning. I'm just happy to be here. Like, I'm just so happy to be here.
00:14I know. You were just at the VMAs last night.
00:17Yes.
00:17And your dress was everything.
00:19Thank you. Thank you.
00:20Let me tell you, Veronica had on this skirt made of money with this, like, silver top.
00:25Who made that skirt for you, girl, and where did you get the idea for that?
00:28Yeah. Funny story. The designer for the outfit, the top and the skirt, his name is Koda Akuda.
00:36Okay.
00:36He's Asian. And he went to Parsons, which is a school in New York, for fashion and design.
00:42Right.
00:42And it was his final exam presentation.
00:46Right.
00:46So that was his, like, final exam. Like, to graduate, that's the project that he presented to graduate from school.
00:54Oh, he definitely got an A plus on that.
00:56So, no. And he actually looked out for me. I did a money clip for Fashion Week last season.
01:01Yes.
01:01And he did the money clip, too. So he's very talented. Super talented.
01:05And you got a lot of comments on that dress.
01:08Yeah, yeah.
01:08Like, great comments. So good for him. Shout out to him.
01:10Yeah, shout out to him. And shout out to my stylist, Demi Dorsey.
01:14Shout out to her.
01:14Because he found, he found, he finds everything. Like, if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't even be in the position that I'm in as far as, like, linked with the designers that I've been linked with.
01:26And that's what's up, though, too, because instead of just going to, like, you know, the Pradas or, like, the big name people, you actually give people a chance to showcase their work.
01:35Yeah, yeah.
01:36Like, people don't know about. So, I appreciate you for that.
01:39No, I'm appreciative of them because in real life, like, you don't know if it's going to work out for me to wear it or, you know, like, I'm a new artist.
01:47So, they, of course, would want to give their stuff to bigger artists or, you know, just people in better positions.
01:53So, to have had, you know, the ability to do the carpet and give them the light that they deserve is, like, a privilege and an honor.
02:02You know what I'm saying? Like, more, I'm more thankful that they let me wear their stuff.
02:07No, that's what's up. So, you know what? My homegirl was putting my eyelashes on this morning.
02:11And she was like, I love Veronica Vega because she did not let them girls pick on her on Love & Hip Hop.
02:16Because I was telling her how I had an interview with you today.
02:19Okay.
02:19So, yeah, from watching you on Love & Hip Hop, you're really cool in person.
02:23So, I know, like, sometimes they try to, like, showcase people and spin it in a way where it's not.
02:28And I'm like, this girl is cool, like, sitting up here, like, showing love and stuff.
02:33So, are you going to be on it again for next season?
02:35We'll see. I'm still, you know, I'm, like, a late, I'm always a late starter.
02:38I probably give them the most problems as far as, like, behind the scenes goes.
02:42Because now, especially, I'm really reconsidering because, you know, everything just seems to be really positive on the music side for me.
02:52Right.
02:52And that's my dream.
02:53Right.
02:54More so than television.
02:55Right.
02:56So, it just depends on my schedule, you know, if it makes sense.
03:01Is that stuff scripted or is it, like, real deal Holyfield?
03:04It's not scripted, but it's produced.
03:07Mm-hmm.
03:07And so, if you know anything about TV, then you kind of know produced is real intense.
03:12Oh, yeah.
03:13It's put together.
03:14If the producers say they want to make you the villain, you're going to be the villain no matter how they spin it.
03:19I mean, I can't say that I didn't have a, I was very, when I started Love & Hip Hop Season 1, I was very, um, like, young?
03:34No, I was guarded.
03:36Okay.
03:36And very on the defense.
03:39Mm-hmm.
03:39And I think it's easy to make someone on the defense a villain because they always feel like they're protecting something.
03:44Right, right.
03:44You know, and I knew the reputation that Love & Hip Hop had going into it, and I felt like I had credibility as an artist and integrity, and I just felt like going on the show, they were already against me.
03:57Right.
03:57And it just goes to show you, like, the energy that you bring is the energy that ultimately people perceive.
04:02Right, right.
04:03So, you know, I learned a lot from that experience.
04:06Well, you know what?
04:06I'm digging your music.
04:08I like the song you got out with Quavo.
04:10I saw the video of the little girl that you shared, the dark-skinned girl.
04:15Yeah, yeah.
04:15Is she from Atlanta?
04:16Oh, she's from Atlanta.
04:17Okay.
04:18Yeah.
04:18So, A Million, how did you get Quavo on the track?
04:21Have y'all always been cool?
04:23I haven't been cool with him.
04:24I just now, like, you know, I met him through this record, and it happened because I'm signed
04:32to producer Polo Don.
04:33He's based in Atlanta.
04:34Yeah, okay.
04:35And Polo made it happen as a surprise.
04:38Like, we had done that record, and one day he was like, I want you to listen to this mix.
04:43Like, if I was listening to a mix, and when I heard it, I was like, oh, this is Quavo.
04:47And so he was like, yeah, you know, basically, like, I think that this is a great look, and I
04:52just wanted to surprise you.
04:53And so it's the best surprise I ever got.
04:56Oh, yeah.
04:57I'm jamming to that song.
04:58So you're getting good response from A Million.
05:00Yeah.
05:01And then you've done a song with Pitbull in the past, too, as well, right?
05:05Yeah, yeah.
05:05So are you guys still cool?
05:07I know.
05:07Yeah.
05:08Pitbull is, like, one of my mentors and great friends, I'd like to say.
05:13He's definitely helped me along the way, anytime that I need anything, pointers.
05:18He's just a really special person, a force to be reckoned with, a very, like, grateful,
05:25humble person.
05:26Just a great example for me.
05:27Oh, yeah.
05:28And I actually went to one of his concerts, and I was so excited.
05:32His people wanted to kick me out.
05:33I've been kicked out a couple of meet and greets.
05:35But he was like, no, no, no.
05:36I've been kicked out of places, too.
05:39He was like, no, no, no, no, no.
05:40Let her stay.
05:41He's like that.
05:42He's like that.
05:42Yeah, so I was like, okay, he's cool, or whatever.
05:45Yeah, he's super cool.
05:46But you know what?
05:46I'm so proud of you, you know, standing tall and standing firm and doing your music thing
05:51and not letting the haters get to you.
05:53And you're cool.
05:55Veronica's a cool girl in real life.
05:58So don't let the TV fool y'all or whatever.
06:01Now, do you have any music coming on the way with anybody?
06:05Do you have any more music coming up?
06:06I have a lot of features, but I always like to keep my stuff a secret until the moment.
06:11So it's kind of like what I did with Quavo.
06:13Like, I didn't reveal who the feature was until we released the video.
06:18Right.
06:18Or actually, we released a song a week before the video.
06:21So I like to kind of keep my stuff, because I'm like weird about jinxing things.
06:25Oh, yeah.
06:25No, I feel you.
06:26And I think sometimes you kind of give it to the fans earlier than they anticipate it,
06:30and anything can change business-wise.
06:32Because behind the scenes, things change.
06:33And then I just feel like you let them down.
06:35So I'd rather just be let down by myself than like all of us be let down together.
06:39Oh, I like that.
06:41So I do have some great features, and I actually think that I just recorded my next single this week.
06:48I was in Atlanta before I went to the VMAs.
06:50Okay.
06:50I think I just, I think I have a new, a new popping record coming up.
06:55Now, when is that coming?
06:56You're not going to tell us?
06:58Polo is real weird.
06:59Like, he'll sit somewhere, he's a perfectionist, which is great, but he'll sit with it,
07:04and then he'll be like, I'm like, oh, okay, it's done.
07:06It sounds done.
07:07Like, when we record it, for the most part, it pretty much sounds great.
07:10Right.
07:10But he'll go in there, and he'll add something the next day, and then a week later, it'll sound like a different record,
07:16and then two weeks later, it'll sound like a whole different record, and then he'll be like, listen to this.
07:19Same thing like the surprise.
07:20Right.
07:21It's like, listen to this.
07:21Look what I did over here.
07:22And I'm like, oh, my God.
07:24Well, he's a visionary.
07:25Right.
07:25You know, he has this idea before he puts it together of what it's going to sound like in the end, and only he knows what that sounds like, you know?
07:32So he just keeps adding until he feels like it's right.
07:35So hopefully he doesn't do too much more.
07:38Right.
07:38And we could just, you know, because I think everybody's really excited, and the momentum is great right now.
07:43So I just want to have, like, a fluid movement moving forward, if that is proper term.
07:50Yeah, no, that makes a lot of sense.
07:51Yeah.
07:52Now, I know you're working on your album and all types of things or different music.
07:56Do you have time for love?
07:58Like, do you have a love life?
08:02I think you make time for the things that you want.
08:06I just haven't necessarily been in, I guess, in that pocket, you know?
08:11And I've gotten my heart broken really bad, like really, really bad.
08:16But, so it's kind of like, I'm still kind of guarded.
08:21I don't know that I can really give how I want to give.
08:24And I think that when you do love somebody, they've got to understand where you're going.
08:29And I believe that in the best love, you guys are kind of headed in the same direction.
08:34Correct.
08:36So you like dudes in the industry?
08:38I don't, I like all dudes.
08:42I like all dudes.
08:44But I think it makes sense.
08:49I don't think that you have to be in the industry, but you have to have a mindset that's forward moving.
08:53And that usually is not really intimidated by a lot going, you know, somebody with a lot going on.
09:00I have a lot going on.
09:02You know, I have a lot of men around.
09:04And that could be really, like, hard on the ego, you know?
09:08Correct.
09:08Correct.
09:08Especially if you're not more successful than me.
09:12Oh, yeah.
09:12You know, then it's, like, kind of hard to see maybe other men that are more successful than me around me.
09:19I feel that, girl.
09:20Well, you know what?
09:21What you doing tonight?
09:22Maybe we could go out searching.
09:23Oh, I want to go search.
09:25I love searching.
09:26Searching is great.
09:27All right, let's do that then.
09:29Miss Veronica Vega is in Tampa hanging out.
09:31And like I said, she is a dope girl.
09:34Her song, Amelia with Quavo, is out right now.
09:36Anything else you want to say to the people?
09:38No.
09:39I just, I am probably in the best place that I've been in in my life.
09:43And I've worked for 15 years to get here.
09:45So I just, I feel like God is with me more than ever.
09:51I know he's always been with me, but I just feel, like, really blessed and really happy.
09:54And I guess if there's anything to say is, like, any one of you that are my fans or even any of you who probably hate me, like, like, God is, like, the biggest, greatest thing ever.
10:04And, like, he's there with you.
10:06You just got to, like, trust and believe him, you know?
10:09Girl, yes, I love it.
10:10And I want to see you again on the next season of Love and Hip Hop Miami.
10:14Like, I know your music is popping right now, but I want to see it.
10:17I want to see you on there.
10:18It's like redemption season, you know what I'm saying?
10:20Because you really are a dope person.
10:23All right, thank you, Miss Veronica.
