Grade 4 Piano Exam
Category A 1
Song Name / Song Piece Presto
Composer G B Pescetti

Giovanni Battista Pescetti was an Italian composer and keyboard player who studied with Antonio Lotti at St Mark's, Venice, and composed operas for the Venetian theatres. In the 1730s and 40s he worked in London as a harpsichordist and opera composer. He then returned to Venke, taking up an organist's post at St Mark's.

Recommended tempo for this piece is 108 bpm.
This piece is mainly to be played legato (smoothly) in the right hand, but the left hand crotchet parts can have a little more bounce, in keeping with the Baroque style of the music.
Dynamics are straightforward and uncomplicated, but keep in mind a steady tempo is essential to maintain throughout. Look out for the temporary change of clef in the right hand part from Treble to Bass at bar 20 until bar 24, where the Treble clef is then re-instated!
The dotted-rhythm figures in bar 52 should be played in triplet rhythm to fit with the rest of the piece. (see footnote in the exam book for more detail)
