00:00A political analyst said the defeat of several high-profile figures, including ministers, in PKR's divisional elections signals grassroots dissatisfaction with their performance in Kutra Jaya and as elected representatives.
00:16Rusty Omar of University Utara, Malaysia, said the losses also reflect a growing boldness among party members to push for change.
00:25He said these defeats suggest that PKR grassroots believe that several of the party's ministers are performing below par.
00:33He also said it shows that members are aware of their MP's lackluster performance and failure to fulfill promises.
00:41Meanwhile, Asmi Hassan of Academy Nusantara said the defeats of big names were driven less by performance and more about factional alignment.
00:50He said PKR elections tend to focus on personalities and preferences, and those who lost may have been seen as too closely aligned with certain factions.
01:00Notable names who lost in the divisional polls include Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nick Nazmin Nick Ahmad,
01:09Deputy Unity Minister and PKR Vice President K. Saraswati, Penang Executive Councilor Fahmi Zainul and Batu MP P. Prabhakaran.
