00:00.
00:26I thought Mr. Carney did very well.
00:28I thought Jagmeet Singh did very well, not so much for Mr. Paliyev.
00:33Was there anything that surprised you?
00:37Not much.
00:38It's just typical what politicians talk about.
00:41They usually don't answer the question and they have a point of view they want to express
00:46and they do it.
00:47Do you enjoy watching the debate?
00:49Well, the parts I watched I did enjoy.
00:52Which leader do you think did the best job yesterday?
00:57I think in the debate Mr. Carney did the best job.
01:01Follow the debate, I follow the issues.
01:17I thought it was well conducted and it was helpful in terms of informing my decision.
01:24Which I made momentarily, just a moment ago.
01:39Climate number one and economy which is obviously related number two.
01:45And Trump number three.
01:51There are so many topics that are important in this election.
01:54But the fact that thousands are being killed in front of my eyes,
01:59makes me feel like that is the litmus test for the Prime Minister of this country.
02:04Will he stand for the rights of people being ethnically cleansed abroad?
02:10Along with standing up for our right here to stand up with them.
02:15The rise of anti-Palestinian racism.
02:18The rise of Islamophobia.
02:20We are being silenced in our schools.
02:22We are being silenced in our workplaces.
02:24We're being silenced in public for simply calling a spade a spade.
02:29For simply talking about genocide.
02:31And the Prime Minister of this country needs to be defending human rights at home, here and abroad.
02:39As many as 60% of Canadians have already made their minds up before this debate.
03:00So you're really only talking about, you know, maybe 40% of the population.
03:05And debates don't really change much.
03:09I think that most of the time they just shore up the support.
03:12I think that people might have been a bit surprised by the extent to which there seemed to be kind of common agreement.
03:24In terms of, for example, the issue of how to deal with Trump, right?
03:28And the trade dispute.
03:30So there seems to be quite a fair bit of commonality there.
03:34Both the Liberals and the Conservatives agree that there is a need to fight back.
03:46Right?
03:47There's a need for counter tariffs.
03:49So there really is no disagreement there.
03:52The question, I think, then boils down to, okay, well, how are you going to compensate workers who are hurt by this?
03:58And how much will you compensate them?
04:00So I think, and what is your plan for getting Canada, you know, some new trading partners and diversifying our trading partners?
04:09Because clearly the lesson that we've learned is we can't be so reliant on the Americans.
04:14Switching at the same thing into that, you know, that the Liberals look like they're going to do well into that.
04:19And Carney came out early on talking about how he would do that, but everybody is asking for more specifics.
04:24So that didn't happen.
04:26We didn't get that kind of budgeting out of promises in the debates.
04:31And for some people that was a disappointment.
04:34The Deputy Prime Minister.
04:35Yeah.
04:36Right?
04:37You know, she's got huge name recognition.
04:40Right.
04:41But the other thing that I found a really interesting contrast is, you know, everybody says he's not a politician because he's just new to politics.
04:47And it was very apparent that there was a very different style on the part of Carney and the three other men in the debate.
04:57Because he was, he was more sort of thoughtful in many ways, and he was sort of more analytical.
05:03Whereas you could see that the other three leaders come in with their, they've got their points well prepared.
05:09Right.
05:10And they're going to roll out the lines they've been rolling out for some time, which, you know, is fine.
05:14It's fine.
05:15That's kind of what these debates are about.
05:16But, but there was such a difference of style between Carney and the other three.
05:21Here we are.
05:22Here we are.
05:25Please see, here we are.
05:28But, but the other one is moving.
05:31You know, if the colleagues come in with a group of OO and the other two.
05:34I will see you again.
05:35Let me see you in the next one.
05:39Please watch this.
