00:00How much did the price of eggs change in the EU?
00:07The price of eggs in the EU was on average 6.7% higher in March this year than in March 2024.
00:15The Czech Republic experienced the highest annual inflation rate for eggs at 46%,
00:21followed by Slovakia at 29.8% and Hungary at 26.1%.
00:28By contrast, egg prices decreased the most in the Netherlands by 3.6%,
00:34followed by Luxembourg with a drop of 3.2% and Greece where prices fell by 2%.
00:41Egg prices have registered increase so far in 2025 with a rise of 3.4% in January
00:48and a 4.1% increase in February, compared to the same periods in 2024.
00:532024 saw negative rates of change in 10 out of 12 months compared with 2023.
01:00However, 2025 increases were smaller compared to those registered in 2022 and 2023,
01:07where all months between April 2022 and September 2023 had double-digit increases.
01:14The largest was 31.2% in February 2023, compared to the same month in 2022.
01:21In 2024, France was the leading producer of eggs with 942.000 tons,
01:28followed by Germany and Spain.
