00:0011 Bristol restaurants, including Mayflower and Taka Taka, have been shortlisted for the prestigious Deliveroo Restaurant Awards 2025.
00:11There's loads around, from all different cultures as well, which is so nice. You've got a wide diversity of food.
00:19What have we got around here, for goodness sake? Well, Wilson's has just got its first star, hasn't it?
00:25Not that I've ever been. But around here, we just like to eat in the pubs, and the mall is great, and we like the busco down the road for the pizzas.
00:37The coat is brilliant for people over a certain age, I have to admit, these days.
00:44Yeah, it's got a bit of a scene, Bristol, hasn't it?
00:47The Deliveroo Restaurant Awards have returned for 2025, celebrating the best and most loved local restaurants in the UK.
00:55From local independent burger joints, to neighbourhood sushi restaurants, and the dishes and flavours in between.
01:04I love nutmeg in Clifton, it's my favourite place to go and eat in, but also you can do a nice takeaway, have it in your living room as well, which is also really lovely.
01:14Bristol is a city known for its good food, and many restaurants in the city have previously won awards.
01:20But this year, Danny's Burgers has been shortlisted again, having won Best Burger Chef of the Year in 2021, and the UK's Best Burger in 2022.
01:31Owen's Diner has been nominated for Independent Restaurant of the Year.
01:36The brand launched its 2016 and American-style burger joint that's served dirty burgers for meat lovers and vegans alike.
01:45They won Restaurant of the Year in 2019, and have been a popular spot in the city ever since they launched in 2016.
01:54But do locals find eateries and bars around the city of Bristol too expensive?
02:00I don't think so. I mean, if you're going out for a special treat, then, you know, why not just treat yourself for a bit?
02:09I think, I mean, it depends what you want.
02:12So if you want pizza, maybe it's a little bit getting more expensive to have pizza.
02:15You might as well make it at home yourself.
02:18But, yeah, I mean, I wouldn't eat out every week, so don't you?
02:23Yeah.
02:24And the reason, perhaps, is the fact that Bristol is open to new ideas, new cuisine.
02:33There's money about in Bristol.
02:36I think, well, north of the river, there's money about in Bristol.
02:41Property prices are high.
02:45Gentrification comes in, I think, to a certain degree.
02:49And people that move into these places have got money to spend.
02:53And they go to places like down the road, you've got the Clifton.
