00:00Hey, what's up y'all? It's Dub hanging here in the man cave here at the house. I had a couple of minutes, so I figured I would shoot a little video talking about some guitar pull memories.
00:10We are exactly seven weeks away from the 2022 Kix99 guitar pull, and I told you pretty much every week from here on out, we would talk a different guitar pull and share some memories from that year.
00:22So now let's go to 2006. 2006 was a huge Kix99 guitar pull. First of all, it was our last year at the Bell Auditorium. We had a great run at the Bell from 2001 to 2006. I'll never forget those years. Those are some of my favorite guitar pulls. That venue is just incredible.
00:42The thing that made 2006's guitar pull huge was we had Rascal Flatts headlining that year, and in 2006, Rascal Flatts were the biggest thing, not just in country music, but in music, period.
00:54I mean, they were crossing over to the pop charts. They were everywhere. They were the hottest thing going, and we had them headlining guitar pull in 2006.
01:03We also had some guy who had a couple of songs out, some guy, Al Dean, Jason, Jason Al Dean, y'all heard of him? Yeah, he was on guitar pull in 2006 as well, along with Daryl Worley, Julie Roberts, Jeff Bates.
01:17It was a great show. What made 2006 an interesting year was you could not buy a ticket to guitar pull that year.
01:26We did not put any tickets on sale. The only way to get your tickets for guitar pull 2006 was to win them, either on the air or at something that we had just started doing, something brand new that year that now has become a tradition in the fall, just like college football, guitar pull ticket stops.
01:452006 was the start of Kicks 99 guitar pull ticket stops. I remember the first one that we did that year. I was there with the road crew. It was at the old Toyota of Augusta on Washington Road, and we had over 800 people come by and get signed up to win tickets that year.
02:03So 2006, big year for Kicks 99's guitar pull. We started guitar pull ticket stops for the first time. We had Rascal Flatts and Jason Al Dean on the show. It was a big year.
02:15Man, just, I'll never forget 2006. If I had to rank top 10 guitar pulls or top 5 guitar pulls, 2006 is definitely up there in the top 5. It was a great year. Hopefully, some of y'all might have been there. If you remember it, hopefully you got some great memories as well.
02:32And next week, who knows? What year will I come up with? What year will we look back on? We'll talk to you next week, alright?
