00:00Thank you so much for watching Riff TV. Now, this interview is obviously with video, but I don't interview everybody on Zoom.
00:07That's why I put it on my Talkin' Rock with Meltdown podcast. We talk to rock artists from all over the genre.
00:13So check out Talkin' Rock with Meltdown wherever you get your podcasts. And now, to today's video interview.
00:20Matt, good to see you.
00:22How are you, man? It's been a while.
00:24Yeah, it has been a while. Thanks for taking the time.
00:26Of course, you guys just played last night in Milwaukee at the Rave, didn't you?
00:31Sure did.
00:32Yeah, so I was there about a month ago. I took a trip to Milwaukee.
00:36And I don't know if I've told this story on the show or not, but I took a trip to Milwaukee to see the Harley-Davidson Museum, right?
00:42Which I'm sure you've probably seen, right?
00:44I had one, actually, where I'm from. We have a Harley-Davidson plant.
00:48I've been there, to York, Pennsylvania. That's right.
00:50Yeah, so I haven't been to the one in Milwaukee, but I've been to the one in York quite a bit.
00:54All right, so anyway, so I go to Milwaukee, and I'm at this stage in my career where I have connections all over the place to bands, whether I know the bands or the management or, you know, whatever.
01:04So I see Guar is playing at the Rave.
01:09So anyways, I text one of my friends, and I say, hey, could you get me in to see Guar?
01:13He's like, sure.
01:14So anyway, so I go to see Guar, and not only did I see him, but they were so nice, I got to meet him beforehand, and they even offered to kill me on stage.
01:23Did they?
01:23Yeah, no, they didn't. No, they had a radio winner. Apparently, they were supposed to kill instead, but anyways, but it was nice of them to offer anyways.
01:30I have heard only stories. I've never seen them.
01:34Yeah.
01:34I've watched them on YouTube. It looks pretty wild.
01:38I've heard they smell terrible because of their suits. Like, they can't wash them.
01:43So, like, I heard that, like, you know, if you get within five feet of them, you're like, it's basically, you're passing out.
01:50So I don't know if you had that experience or not.
01:52No, no, no. I didn't get that. I've heard the same thing about, you know, a slip knot and the whole thing, right?
01:56But it's like, you know, they were super nice, and I met them before they put all their gear on and stuff like that.
02:02So, you know.
02:03Yeah, our joke is, is if you let your stage pants go for, like, three to five days, you can just stand them up and jump off your bunk right into them.
02:09That's right.
02:10So that place is pretty cool. I've never been there before.
02:13And, ironically enough, that was my first time ever seeing them, too.
02:16So that's half the reason they offered to kill me on stage.
02:18So, you know, very nice of us.
02:20Welcome. Would you like to die on stage today?
02:22That's right. Exactly.
02:24It was really cool, man.
02:25You know, first time in Milwaukee, believe it or not.
02:27I mean, we've been all over the world.
02:29Wait, that's the first time you've played there?
02:31First time we've ever played Milwaukee, man.
02:33Wow.
02:34And, of course, it comes right after the Dahmer Netflix series, and everything's just, like, eerie at that point.
02:40Like, it gets dark in Milwaukee, and it's like, ooh, this is weird.
02:43And, you know, we're right across the street from the Ambassador Hotel.
02:46That's right. Yeah, that's right.
02:47You know, that becomes a highlight of the day, of course.
02:51Which is funny.
02:51I think that's half the reason I went, too.
02:53I think it got into my psyche, because I was watching that throughout October.
02:57Then I went there, and I think the concert was, like, October 28th or something.
03:01But they say that place is haunted, and I was expecting you to say, oh, yeah, we've played there a bunch of times.
03:06But that place is a pretty wild place.
03:08Did you get a chance to walk through it?
03:10All over.
03:11It's incredible, man.
03:12Yeah.
03:12Incredible.
03:13You know, we played the downstairs, but, I mean, you know, we're progressing nicely in our career.
03:16So I'm hoping we just keep moving up levels, you know, because that top room is so amazing.
03:22Yeah, that's really cool.
03:23I guess I'll like guys like Jack White have played up there in different things.
03:26I went up there with some of the locals, some of the guys I met, and they took me up there.
03:32And there was a smoking area in this bar up there, which, like, is kind of outdoors.
03:36It was pretty cool.
03:37Yeah.
03:37Yeah, it's like a balcony out front.
03:39It's wild.
03:40And so then you're coming here for a sold-out show, I know, playing on the 10th at my friend
03:43Kevin Zink's place over there at the Machine Shop.
03:46You guys have played there a bunch, I'm sure, right?
03:48Oh, I love it there, man.
03:49You know, we're getting to the point now where we got to do two nights, so, or they got to
03:53knock out a wall and extend that bad boy, you know what I mean?
03:55So, but yeah, I mean, you know, the Machine Shop's iconic, and every time we get a chance
04:01to play there, it's always wild.
04:02I just can't wait to see the Flint Santa.
04:03And that's what I'm looking forward to, man.
04:05Yeah, we'll have to give him a plug.
04:07I saw him at the Jackal concert a couple weeks ago, but I didn't get a chance to, like, you
04:11know, he said, I'm going to get a picture or something, you know, and I'm like, yeah,
04:14you know, I didn't get a chance to do that kind of thing.
04:16But yeah, the Flint Santa, of course, legendary up there for going to all those concerts.
04:19So, what else do you guys have going on?
04:23Tour, you know, this tour ends December 17th at home, which is always nice when it ends
04:29at home, because you just go from the show right to your house.
04:32So, that's always great.
04:34And then, obviously, everyone's doing the holidays, and next year, we're working on some more touring
04:38stuff.
04:39And, you know, fingers crossed that our record label is going to work with us to put the
04:42record out.
04:44And we'll see what goes from there.
04:45All right, let's talk about the record here in a few minutes, but let's talk about this
04:48Christmas song, All I Want for Christmas is You.
04:50So, first of all, I always wonder, when do bands record their Christmas stuff?
04:55Do you do it, like, in the middle of summer and just dress up the studio with all sorts
04:58of bells and whistles, or did you record it last year, or did you just record it?
05:02How does that work?
05:03So, we probably did it a bit unconventional.
05:06I'll try to make a long story short for you.
05:09So, I booked some studio time to do some solo stuff.
05:13The studio time was set for mid-November.
05:16So, it was set for about a week before we were going on a tour.
05:20Actually, probably a little less than a week before we were going on the current tour that
05:22we're on right now.
05:23I was going to say, just a few weeks ago?
05:25Yeah, just a few weeks ago.
05:27So, one thing led to the next.
05:29I wasn't able to do the solo stuff.
05:31That's a whole other conversation.
05:33And I was like, well, we got the studio time booked.
05:36Why don't we just do a Christmas song?
05:38So, Lance, the guitarist, and I, we just started throwing around Christmas songs.
05:43And, of course, there's a hundred in the hat.
05:45And we're like, yeah, but, you know, we really don't have time.
05:48We don't know what we're going to do with this thing.
05:50Let's just go for the low-hanging fruit and see what happens.
05:52But, so, of course, we did All I Want for Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey, which, you
05:58know, we all know how most people feel about that song.
06:02And then the other, it's like a 50-50 split, I guess.
06:05So, anyway, we recorded it less than a week before we came out here on tour in mid-November
06:10and shot the music video, all of that within three days.
06:14A total elapsed time was 16 hours.
06:16So, normally, I think people do what you're saying is they do it, you know, a year prior
06:22or they'll do it in the summertime or something like that.
06:26We were just like, you know what?
06:27Let's see what happens.
06:29And it's growing legs, man.
06:30I mean, it's just, you know, as quick as we could get it out.
06:33And here we are.
06:34Where did you shoot the video?
06:35Near the same place?
06:37In our practice spot.
06:38Oh, right there.
06:38Okay.
06:39So, we had all of our stuff set up to rehearse for this tour.
06:42And it just, we're like, how about we just go to the home store, buy some Christmas trees,
06:47bring them in.
06:48You know, the guy who shot our last music video, I called him up.
06:51I'm like, hey, you want to come down?
06:52He's in New York City.
06:54We're Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
06:56We're like, hey, you want to come down and shoot this video?
06:57He's like, yeah, I'm not doing nothing.
06:58I got that day off.
06:59I'll come down.
07:00So, it really strangely came together faster than anything I've ever seen come together.
07:05And, of course, you guys had to make it brutal.
07:08Yeah, you know.
07:08So, that was the original idea that Danny was talking about.
07:13He's like, you know, why don't we do like the stalker thing, like Michael Myers, and
07:17like, you know, the memes, and make a joke out of it.
07:20And I was like, I just don't know that we have time to come up with that storyline.
07:23I was like, what if we actually take it serious?
07:26Like, what if we actually just put out a serious cover of this song for people who want a different
07:33version of the song or, you know, want metal or rock, you know, quite like ourselves?
07:39And, you know, one thing led to the next.
07:42That's what we did.
07:42And it seems to be working.
07:44Now, you playing that on stage now?
07:47No.
07:48No.
07:48What about the last show?
07:50No.
07:51No.
07:51Okay.
07:52I thought you guys would pull it out there for a little bit.
07:55I don't know how that would go over yet.
07:57Because we recorded in such short time, never rehearsed it.
08:02They talked about playing it at our last show, which is the Hometown Christmas show.
08:06Right.
08:07They've discussed, the guys in the band have discussed, like, let's do it.
08:10And I'm the one who's kind of like, I don't know, guys.
08:12Like, are we ready for this?
08:15You've got to spit it out in front of your hometown fans, I would think.
08:18Yeah.
08:18Maybe we'll limp through it, see what happens.
08:20Maybe we'll just get everybody else singing it.
08:22Yeah.
08:23There you go.
08:23No, it's pretty cool.
08:25It kicks ass, of course.
08:25I mean, the Mariah Carey version, it's like, as soon as you start to hear it, well, you
08:29know, the 157th time you hear it every Christmas, you know, it starts to wear on you a little
08:34bit.
08:34But it is kind of cool that someone else is doing that now.
08:37So you got these shows coming up here.
08:39And then you were talking about your solo stuff.
08:43So do you want to get in that or no?
08:46I mean, I would love to do it someday.
08:49You know, getting into it, talking about it.
08:51I mean, it's just, at this point, it's kind of just contractual, you know what I mean?
08:54And where I'm at as an artist, I'm just not really given the opportunity to do it yet,
09:01I guess, put it that way.
09:02So there's not really much to talk about there, but hopefully someday we can get it rolling
09:06and I'll be able to get some of that stuff out.
09:08And speaking of contractual stuff, what kind of legal loopholes do you have to jump through
09:12to record that Christmas cover?
09:15Or don't you?
09:16I was wondering how that worked.
09:17Yeah, so with covers, it's weird, right?
09:20So like, if you change the song a lot, if you change the lyrics, if you add parts,
09:24then you start getting into like weird licensing and stuff like that.
09:27But as long as you keep it pretty true to the original, there's, you know, and you're not selling it,
09:33you know, you're just streaming it or whatever, you know, all that kind of stuff.
09:37Like, you know, and if you are selling it, of course, you get the money to the right people.
09:41You know what I mean?
09:42Like, it's fine.
09:43But if you go changing a lot about it, you add parts, like we had a couple of things
09:48that we've done in the past where we've mashed songs together just for fun.
09:52You know what I mean?
09:52And then, of course, one thing leads to the next and they take off and fans want a recorded
09:56version of it and stuff like that.
09:58That makes it difficult when you mash them together.
09:59Then you've got to get two different artists to be like, oh, OK, I'm OK with this because
10:04it obviously changes the integrity of what they intended for their original piece of art.
10:08But so so with this one, there's nothing really changed.
10:12It's just, you know, it's our version of a song that already exists.
10:16Now, you guys you guys contributed a song to The Retaliators, correct?
10:20We did.
10:21Yeah, two, maybe.
10:22I'm not sure.
10:23I'm not sure how that goes, but I know one for sure.
10:25Yeah, I would love to have seen the movie, but I don't even know where it's streaming.
10:28I've tried I've tried to watch.
10:30I'm like, I want to see it because I'm like a horror movie fan and all this kind of stuff.
10:33And I don't know where it is.
10:35I think it's on Amazon, but I'm going to be dead honest with you, man.
10:39I haven't seen it either.
10:40OK, I don't know that any of us have to be 100 percent honest.
10:45And Lance, our guitarist, he is he's really into horror as well.
10:48So but I've heard from a lot of people that it's really gory, if that means anything.
10:53So it also is Terrifier, too.
10:56I have heard that is incredibly gory.
10:58I've not seen that either.
11:00I'm more of a I'm not really into like the slasher horror films.
11:04I'm more of like the sci fi and suspenseful horror psychological thrillers.
11:10Yeah.
11:10Yeah.
11:11Right.
11:11Unless it's like some like a classical slasher.
11:14And I can't believe I'm saying classical at this point, but like Scream.
11:17Right.
11:17You know, like that's one of my favorite movies of all time.
11:19But I'm all into like the ghosts and demons and stuff like that.
11:23You know, so those are the ones that those are the ones that make me think about things.
11:27Yeah.
11:27So were you did you watch all the Stranger Things stuff?
11:30Oh, my gosh.
11:31Yes.
11:32Oh, love it.
11:33R.I.P.
11:33Eddie.
11:34Yeah, that's right.
11:35Yeah.
11:35For now, we'll see what happens.
11:36But it's weird.
11:37They use, you know, they used a master of puppets and whatnot.
11:40But I'm older than you.
11:41And it's like I never heard the other song.
11:44They're running up the hill or whatever.
11:45I don't even know what that song is.
11:46Neither did I.
11:47My wife seemed to know what it was, though.
11:49OK.
11:49So she's like, oh, my God, I love this song.
11:52And I'm like, I have no idea.
11:53But my thing was, is after it hit and was so big, obviously, I was like, all right,
12:00where's the covers?
12:01Where are they at?
12:02And that's kind of like kind of like there has been a few.
12:05There has.
12:05Absolutely.
12:06Absolutely.
12:07So that song was huge, though, man.
12:10You know, I mean, I'm not sure it was huge back in the day, but I'm sure.
12:13What's her name?
12:14Kate Bush.
12:15Yeah.
12:16Bush.
12:16I don't know who that is, but I have a Peloton and every once in a while.
12:20Well, well, not anymore, but like back in, you know, a few months ago, you'd hear this
12:24metal cover.
12:25I don't even know who did it, you know.
12:28Yeah, I do know that I heard.
12:31Well, I heard.
12:31OK.
12:32And then I think it's true that she owns all her masters, which as an artist is like, you
12:39know, it's a dream come true.
12:40Right.
12:40To own all your masters.
12:42Right.
12:42And the fact that that went so viral in 2022, like she probably was like doing OK.
12:48You know what I mean?
12:48And then like 2022 rolls along like 30 years later.
12:51And the next thing you know, it's the best thing that's ever happened.
12:54And probably 40 years later, it's the best thing that's happened in her career, you know.
12:58So it's wild how things like that happen.
13:01And it's really cool to see somebody, you know, kind of take to Metallica, too, because
13:05I heard they were struggling a little bit.
13:07So.
13:07Yeah.
13:08It's good to see those guys get a few pennies in there.
13:11I thought you were being serious there.
13:13Then it clicked.
13:14And I was like, OK, wait a second.
13:16Starving artists, those Metallica guys.
13:19No, no.
13:20That show, by the way, that those.
13:22I mean, you know, not to get off on something else, but it's like those you've heard about
13:26the tour, right?
13:28With Metallica.
13:29Which one?
13:30The one that's coming up next year.
13:32Oh, yeah.
13:32I mean, I saw it.
13:33The one that's got like a million different openers and straight goes for like two years.
13:37Yeah.
13:38It's like Metallica.
13:39They've reached that that state that point in their career.
13:41Well, they have been for a long time now where they can pretty much do whatever they want.
13:45Oh, absolutely.
13:46Absolutely.
13:47It's incredible, man.
13:48Yeah.
13:49It's a dream come true for any artist.
13:51So so for me, I just look at it and live vicariously like, oh, this is and to see some
13:56of my friends, you know, that that we've come up through the industry with opening those
14:00shows is just.
14:01It's it's awesome, man.
14:03Like it's it's, you know, again, vicarious.
14:05I'm like, you guys, man, can I just come out and look?
14:08Can I just come out?
14:09I mean, like just be there for a minute.
14:11Yeah.
14:11I saw the show in Pittsburgh and, you know, Ice Nine Kills.
14:14Is that who you're referring to?
14:15One of the guys, you know, I saw those guys open up in Greta Van Fleet opened up that show
14:19as well.
14:20Yeah, man.
14:21Just so, so great.
14:22So happy for all those guys.
14:23Yeah, it's so cool to see metal and rock artists like this day and age because it's
14:28hard for all artists, you know what I mean?
14:30So this day and age to see those guys, you know, coming up the way they are.
14:33I'm like, all right, man, we've got we got some life here, man.
14:36Let's go.
14:37Let's go.
14:38So you mentioned earlier about a record and possible tour next year.
14:41So what kind of stuff you got in the can?
14:44Well, we have a record in the can.
14:47It's been done for a while.
14:49Um, and touring, I don't really know yet.
14:54We're working on that.
14:55So, uh, it's touring's weird, man.
14:58Um, it's not the way that it used to be prior to the pandemic.
15:01Like, you know, there's not as many bands going out.
15:05There's less opportunities.
15:07Um, we're in a weird spot where we're no longer like the one of four opener.
15:12Um, so, you know, we don't get those types of opportunities because those opportunities are
15:17a little bit easier because there's more of them, right?
15:20Um, for us, it's more, you know, depending on the bill, we're, we're, we're direct support
15:25in a lot of the bigger bands now, um, and doing our own headliners.
15:28So, you know, really trying to like line all that up, figure out what's coming up for the
15:32summer, because not all that's booked yet.
15:34And I think that that's kind of what we're looking at maybe for support, um, to do something
15:38cool in the summer for support.
15:40Um, so like trying to book headliners around it.
15:42And then of course you've got festival season.
15:44So you've got to figure out festival season.
15:47It's really a chess, you know, big game of chess, man, just to figure out where all the
15:50pieces are supposed to go.
15:52So, um, and plus you want to have some product out there.
15:55Right.
15:55So, right.
15:56So, I mean, so is this record going to drop first quarter or what, or don't you know?
16:00I have no idea.
16:00No, really?
16:01I, I literally have no clue.
16:03Um, got some phone calls about it.
16:06You know what I mean?
16:07But that, that's where we're at.
16:08I wish I had answers, but I really have no clue is exactly what the record thing is.
16:14It's been in the can since 20.
16:15So we, we finished it in 2021.
16:18We started it in 2020.
16:19This is all a pandemic stuff.
16:21You guys did the quarantine stuff and all that, but this is, this is all totally different
16:25stuff.
16:26Yeah.
16:26This is a whole, this is a whole original record, you know, brand new.
16:29Uh, we released two songs from the process.
16:32Uh, they're already out.
16:34Um, but we've got, you know, we're, we're contracted to do 14 every album cycle.
16:38We've got 12 that we're, we're currently sitting on, I guess, just waiting to figure out what
16:42the label wants to do.
16:44Um, our best record yet.
16:45They know it.
16:46We know it.
16:46So I guess that's part of the planning is to make sure that we put our, you know, the
16:49right foot forward and, and, uh, make this the biggest thing we've ever done.
16:53Yeah.
16:53It's pretty cool.
16:54I guess, uh, too, to, to, to see that the world is kind of, I mean, from as far as I'm
16:59concerned, back to normal, isn't it?
17:01Yeah.
17:01I mean, you know, when it comes down to what we're doing, I mean, I can't, I can't say that
17:05our $6 gallon diesel prices are back to normal.
17:08Well, of course.
17:08Yeah.
17:09Right.
17:09You know what I mean?
17:10Like as the generator runs while I'm sitting here talking to you, I just watch my dollars
17:14flying out.
17:14You know what I mean?
17:15Like no doubt that exhaust is green.
17:17What's going on there?
17:18Oh, but yeah, beyond that, man.
17:20I mean, yeah, we're out here.
17:21The shows are great.
17:22You know, people are showing up, uh, you know, merch is flying off the shelves better than
17:27I think that it ever has.
17:29And, uh, people are just having fun, you know, and it's good to see, you know, people are
17:32smiling.
17:33Nobody's scared to look, you know, that, that look.
17:35Look, you know, remember that look, you go out in public and you see someone sneeze
17:38and you'd be like, Oh, I don't know.
17:40Yeah.
17:40Right.
17:41That's not happening right now.
17:42So, uh, so it's good.
17:44Yeah.
17:44It is pretty cool to get things back in order.
17:46I've been to a bunch of concerts this year.
17:48Uh, last year it's like, it was kind of touch and go for a few.
17:51And of course there was a lot of the bands I went and saw, there was no meet and greets
17:55or anything like that.
17:55That's all starting to come back now.
17:57So you guys doing all that kind of stuff?
17:59Oh yeah.
18:00Yeah.
18:00We did it in 2021 too.
18:01So we were one of the first bands to come back, um, full tour, you know, bands
18:05were doing little things in here and there, but we went out with POD in 2021 and, uh,
18:10we did meet and greets then, but we did, um, they were weird, man.
18:14Like we would be on stage, fans would come in and they would be, you know, 10 to 12 feet
18:18away from us.
18:19We'd take pictures, talk from the stage, do the whole thing.
18:21It was strange.
18:22It was definitely weird.
18:23Um, we did.
18:24And I'll tell you what, man, we did everything in our power on that particular tour because
18:29obviously it was fresh.
18:31People weren't doing it.
18:32We did everything in our power to stay safe.
18:34We all got COVID went home.
18:37Yeah.
18:37I was, that was my next question.
18:39Did you guys make it through?
18:40You know, it's funny.
18:41It's like, uh, I remember watching, I think it was, uh, well, I know it was, it was a black
18:45label society and I want to say that this was early on as, as the pandemic was kind of
18:51starting to come to an end.
18:52It was like, you know, and they're just doing meet and greets and they're like pandemic
18:55shmandemic and they're like, get over here.
18:57And they're hugging everybody.
18:58It didn't matter.
19:00Didn't they get it?
19:01I don't think so.
19:02I mean, I don't know, I don't know, but.
19:05Oh man, that thing kicked my ass to be honest with you.
19:07That was, I was, I felt about 85.
19:10My back hurt so bad.
19:12I was just limping around all over the place.
19:14So you guys have to cut off the tour.
19:16Yeah.
19:16Yeah.
19:17We ended up having to, to leave it.
19:19And then luckily we didn't have anything coming up too soon after that.
19:22Uh, we, I think what ended up happening, if I'm correct, is we cut off about half of
19:29the end of the tour and then we ended up finishing the last two shows.
19:35Um, cause they were close to us.
19:36So we were able to send the bus home and then get a vehicle at home and do Syracuse and Harrisburg
19:42at the end, um, which was about a three week period.
19:45But I'll tell you what, if it was any less than three weeks, man, I don't know that I
19:49was getting up there doing it.
19:50It, it got rough for a hot second, you know?
19:53So the muscle pain unreal.
19:55Yeah.
19:56It's weird.
19:56It affected everybody differently.
19:58My first bout was in October of 2020 and that's a story for another time.
20:03But, uh, um, and it's like, this was pre, you know, vaccines and all this other nonsense.
20:08And so then, uh, uh, it was like, uh, I was just like, I like had a cold, like, that's
20:13what I thought it was.
20:14And I wake up on Halloween and I'm like, yeah, I can't smell anything.
20:17Oh, that came at the end for me.
20:21Oh, really?
20:21Yeah.
20:22It was like, Oh, I'm good.
20:23I'm good.
20:23I'm not going to lose any smell, taste it.
20:25And then the, literally the end, my smell went and it was gone for three months.
20:30Oh, I was like, yeah, I was like, this is never coming back.
20:32I guess I'm just never smelling the wonderful things that I love to smell, which is a plus
20:36because, you know, at that point, because I'm in a bus with Danny and he's not the best
20:41smelling people being in the world.
20:42Yeah.
20:43Right.
20:43When everyone's running and, you know, for the Hills and the doors are flying open and
20:47everyone's running out, I'm just sitting here like, what?
20:50Yeah.
20:50What's going on?
20:51Right.
20:51I remember taking my deodorant going like this.
20:54I'm like, I can't smell anything.
20:55And then you're right.
20:56Like for like six months, my smell was like strange.
20:58Like it was weird.
21:00Things smelled weird.
21:01Like my shampoo smelled like I was just pouring chemicals all over my body.
21:05And like, I was actually smelling, uh, I was actually using peppermint, like essential
21:10oil to bring my smell back.
21:12It's what I heard.
21:13I don't know.
21:13I don't know if it worked or not.
21:14It did take three months, but, um, I mean, I'm talking like, you know, you get a little
21:18dab of that and normally you're like, Whoa, I'm just putting it like in my nose.
21:24Yeah.
21:25You can do that kind of stuff.
21:26You could cut onions, not worry about it.
21:27The smell and salts, everything, nothing.
21:29Wild.
21:30Yeah.
21:31One thing that did happen that I think that, you know, everyone got a kick out of this.
21:35Um, I became wasabi proof.
21:39Is that right?
21:39Um, so we're all eating sushi and, and to be dead honest with you, I just got into sushi
21:45probably within the last, like two years.
21:48We'll say that makes one of us by the way, but go ahead.
21:50Okay.
21:50Yeah.
21:51Like, well, it took me forever, man.
21:52But you know, I was like, Ooh, I ain't going to eat that stuff.
21:54Yeah.
21:54I'm not much of that.
21:55Yeah.
21:55So finally I was like, all right, I'll try it.
21:58So I tried it and I liked it, but I had never had wasabi.
22:01So after the whole COVID bout and then losing my smell was the first time that I ever tried
22:08wasabi because I just hadn't had it before.
22:10I was like, yeah, I'll try it.
22:11And everyone's like trying it.
22:13Right.
22:13And they're all like dying.
22:14There's your faces are melting.
22:16And I'm sitting there like, is there something?
22:19And like looking at me, they're like, what's, what's going on in it?
22:21And I take like a big dollop of it, man.
22:24And I'm just, what do you mean?
22:26Like, is this supposed to do something?
22:28And they're like, COVID has made you wasabi proof.
22:31So, yeah, that is funny.
22:34Yeah.
22:34The things you do when you, when you had COVID.
22:36Yeah.
22:37We're going to be talking about this for years.
22:39Wild times.
22:40Exactly.
22:41Well, I'll tell you what, good luck with the arrested tour.
22:43Of course, like you said, uh, and ending in, uh, in Lancaster or as I, or as the town
22:48over from where I grew up, we've called it Lancaster.
22:51Um, and shoot.
22:53You had it right though.
22:53The first time.
22:54I know you.
22:55Well, no, I, you had it wrong the first time and I had it right the second time.
22:58Lancaster.
22:59Right.
22:59But, uh, uh, yeah.
23:01Um, wet bottom or dry bottom shoe pipe shoe.
23:04Wet bottom, man.
23:05I like the wet bottom too.
23:06That's pretty good.
23:07Yeah.
23:08I bring that up a lot on tour.
23:09People are like, what are you talking about?
23:11They have no clue.
23:12If you're not from Amish country, you don't know what a wet bottom dry bottom is.
23:16Yeah.
23:16I stayed at a place out there years ago, Mike, probably about 10 years ago.
23:19And we stayed at this place called the old fogey farm.
23:22And it was pretty cool.
23:22Actually.
23:23And it was, these two old people, their last name was fogey.
23:25And, uh, they, we stayed at their farm, you know?
23:27That's amazing.
23:28Yeah.
23:29And then I went to the York, uh, plant, like I was saying, and the whole thing, and it
23:32was, uh, it was pretty cool.
23:33But, uh, um, and, and final thing here for, I've asked you before, let's see if you've
23:36learned anything.
23:37The greatest rock band to come out of Pennsylvania is.
23:42Oh, there's a lot.
23:45Uh, Breaking Benjamin for me.
23:46Oh, so you said that.
23:47I think you did say that before.
23:48Well, I was going to say Cinderella.
23:50Oh, I love that.
23:52That my sister would say that my sister would actually say poison.
23:56That's her favorite band of all time.
23:58So.
23:59Well, Brett from, right?
24:00Yeah.
24:01I talk about all the time, man.
24:02There's, there's nothing to do in Pennsylvania except for music.
24:05Except to rock.
24:06Yeah.
24:07You either break the law or you create music.
24:09That's it.
24:09There's no in between.
24:10And I've done both in my life.
24:12So I'm glad I'm on this kick now.
24:13Well, growing up in Western New York, I've had, I've had a chance to explore Pennsylvania
24:17a little bit.
24:18And it's a, it's a pretty cool state.
24:19And like I said, just when I saw that Metallica show in Pittsburgh at the baseball stadium.
24:23So that was really cool.
24:25You know, maybe one day.
24:26Was that, was that PNC park?
24:27I think.
24:27No, that's not PNC.
24:28Yeah.
24:28Is it PNC?
24:29Yeah.
24:29You said you grew up in Western New York.
24:31Where at?
24:32Outside of Buffalo.
24:33Yeah.
24:33Okay.
24:33Danny's from Rochester.
24:34So.
24:36Talks, talks lovely things about it all the time.
24:40All the snow.
24:41I didn't spend much time in Rochester, but yeah, we just got a pounded.
24:44My family did, you know, a couple of weeks ago, but crazy, man.
24:48Yeah.
24:49Hey, well, Matt, listen, thanks so much for the time.
24:51Of course, the new song, all I want for Christmas is you.
24:54We're going to drill that into people's head this whole holiday season.
24:57And we'll see you on tour, maybe in a couple of weeks at the machine shop.
25:00Okay.
25:00Oh yeah, man.
25:01Stop out.
25:01We'll be there.
