00:00:00Yeah. Perfect balance. What I'm going to be looking for is who is going to be that Malcolm
00:00:04Jenkins. And yeah, everybody's got to be their own guy. We all get that. No one's going to be
00:00:09Malcolm, but who is going to be that veteran in the room to hold other guys accountable?
00:00:14Cause it can't just be coaches. And that's what Doug Peterson thrives on. He thrives on having a
00:00:19leadership committee that can police the locker room. The last thing he wants to do is to be the
00:00:23guy to police the locker room. Cause he knows as a former player, as a guy that was the perfect guy
00:00:29to come in after chip Kelly, he knows that the players, their words go a lot farther than his
00:00:35because you're ultimately trying to impress the guy next to you, which is why I think it's a great
00:00:39idea. Great idea for him to be showing highlights of guys working out on their own during the pandemic
00:00:46to show guys around the locker room. Hey, look, I appreciate everyone being on these meetings.
00:00:50These, uh, these, uh, Microsoft teams meetings, wherever they are. I appreciate everyone being
00:00:54on them, but don't be the guy falling behind with his conditioning. Listen, here's Brandon
00:00:59Graham. Here's a Darius Slay working out. Here's Fletcher Cox working out. Here's Jason Kelsey
00:01:03working out. Here's everybody like showing guys on the team that everybody's doing it makes you feel
00:01:08like I don't want to be the guy to be left behind. Totally agree. And, and, you know, people say it
00:01:14falls right to Fletcher Cox, you know, he's going to have to be the leader now. Maybe, maybe it is,
00:01:19but it's a position. And I like the way Malcolm always phrased it while he was here. Yeah. People
00:01:25want to look at me like that. Fine. I am who I am. It's not like he had to go outside of his own
00:01:29box to be that leader. Right. Right. And, and those, those are the best leaders, the ones that
00:01:33don't have to really think about what they're doing. Um, you know, I think, I think the way
00:01:38Jordan as maniacal as he was, I think that came naturally to him. Right. Oh yeah. Yeah. Like that.
00:01:43I think it was thought out. I do think it was very much thought out, but he had no problem doing it.
00:01:48So it came naturally to him. And he was smart enough as a rookie to say, I can't be a leader
00:01:54here. Cause I have no voice. All I can do is play my ass off. Right. And hopefully I look, I turn
00:01:58around, there's going to be people behind me. Yeah. That's, that's a very self-aware thing. And then
00:02:02he went back to doing the dishes. Uh, Woj tweet, um, that just came out. Nothing, nothing major,
00:02:08not like crazy breaking news. Uh, but it's from Malika Andrews who says all 30 NBA teams are expected
00:02:13to participate in a Corona virus antibody study, uh, spearheaded by the Timberwolves doctor. Uh,
00:02:21you know, researchers are hoping to get a better understanding and spread of the disease in the
00:02:26league and society. So it sounds like a baby step towards a bigger plan. Didn't the MLB just do this?
00:02:34Yeah. They did with their organizations. Yeah. Like the Phillies all did it, but now the NBA is on board
00:02:39as well. I think things are ramping up. I think we're going to get, I do too. I think we're going
00:02:44to get all three back probably in, you know, mid July. Uh, no, here's what I've, I've learned
00:02:50baseball. You take your time. You're not missing the place. Like as a baseball guy, I, I I'm almost
00:02:59rooting for a complete, like they're going to have to kiss our ass as fans to make the sport better
00:03:05and come back. Like if they, if they don't play for the season and they don't play because of money
00:03:09and ultimately that's, what's going to lead the story anyway. So if they don't play, they're really
00:03:14going to have to kiss our ass. And that might be the thing that makes them have major change.
00:03:17Drastic times call for drastic measures. Like I'm almost in the school now of, you know what?
00:03:23If we get basketball back, if we get hockey back and then football's right around the corner,
00:03:26Hey baseball, why don't you take your time? That's a, that's a pretty damning statement.
00:03:30It is sport. Yeah. So wait a second. I understand what I'm saying. Believe me. Yeah. I understand
00:03:34what I'm saying. You're basically saying like, yeah, if the other three are full fledged,
00:03:37yeah, I don't need you. You need to work on you. Like as someone who loves baseball,
00:03:42you need to work on you. We need some time apart. Are you so soured? Is your sourness
00:03:46all from the money aspect of it? I'm not one that usually cares about the money, but when
00:03:50you put it out there, the way it's been put out there and you have someone on your own
00:03:53team who just became at the time, the highest paid player ever in Bryce Harper. And he's
00:03:58like, yeah, that's my guy. That's how, that's how you handle that. What are you nuts? What are you
00:04:01crazy? A guy that's identified with the fans better than almost anybody.
00:04:04Instantaneously. And you're going to go that route. And I look, I always argue. And on this
00:04:09case, by the way, I'm still arguing against the owners above, above anybody else. Sure. Because
00:04:13they're the ones that went, Oh, we got to change the plan. What plan with the plan we agreed
00:04:17to, we're changing it now. I don't think so. Right. But when it does come out over money,
00:04:21the way it did from Blake Snell, that's where you got to look at and go, um, hold on a second,
00:04:27buddy. I understand you were about to make the big bucks, but if you want to talk about
00:04:30how much you're, you're, you're putting yourself at risk, I get it. And the owners are the one that
00:04:34cost the money, but don't put it in that phrase. Don't phrase it like that to people that are filing
00:04:40for unemployment left and right. His thoughts. We can agree with. Absolutely. His thoughts.
00:04:45He wants to make 25% less. But my God, his timing could not have been worse. Just horrible. And I
00:04:54think that's the thing we have to get over. And people were going at me, Oh, you know, you,
00:04:57what are you talking about? If you had to pay, take a pay cut and all that. Absolutely. But I
00:05:01wouldn't be bitching going over to somebody's house who lost their job and bitching about me losing
00:05:0620% of my salary. Like that's, that's where we had the problem. Yeah. Meaning all of us on this
00:05:13show. I think, yeah, look, I I'm always the one saying that you're getting paid your market.
00:05:19That's what you're getting paid. And you want to talk about what you do for a living versus what a
00:05:23player does and weigh what means more to society. I get that. But if you go into a workplace and you
00:05:30get paid X amount of dollars, and then someone who just came in at the same position is getting paid
00:05:34more and you think you're better than them, guess what? Even if it's a million dollars or if it's $20 an
00:05:38hour and someone else is getting 22, you're going to want more money. That's kind of how we're
00:05:43conditioned as human beings. Hey, the few and far between, you give them $2 million. You never see
00:05:48them again. They disappear. They, they, they spend it wisely. They invest wisely. That's fine. But
00:05:53the vast majority of people would still want more. Sure. That's kind of how we're conditioned.
00:05:59You are listening to 97.5, the fanatic WPN, brilliant in Philadelphia, broadcasting through
00:06:02the Xfinity studio only from Comcast. Nine o'clock hour is brought to you by the Baxter dumpster in a bag
00:06:07at your state, home Depot and Lowe's for details. Go to the Baxter.com on the line with us right now
00:06:13from the athletic or good friend, Zach Berman joins us. Zach, how you doing buddy?
00:06:17Hey, I'm doing well. Thanks for having me on. Absolutely, man. I thought you asked a great
00:06:21question yesterday because, and Doug Peterson himself even said it. It was a good question.
00:06:26The logistics of all this going into how you handle a virtual locker room are fascinating to me.
00:06:34And the way Doug answered it was great because he talked about trying to evaluate guys without
00:06:38being in that same room, without seeing them on the grass. I learned a lot. Can you go into depth
00:06:43a little bit about that, about the logistics that go into these virtual training sessions?
00:06:48Sure. So back in April, I believe April 27th, they had their first team meeting and then that was
00:06:55without rookies. And Doug Peterson said they had full attendance there, which, which, uh, you know,
00:07:01he, I guess took some sort of pride and you would think that it's, it's not too hard to log on
00:07:05virtually, but this is a voluntary portion and they had every veteran there. Then the rookies
00:07:10joined in last week and, and, uh, I mean, they have meetings, um, over the computer and they also
00:07:18have workouts over the computer too. Uh, so, so you, so you're doing both. You're being monitored by
00:07:22the coaches. They have position meetings, they have special teams meetings. Uh, so really this is the
00:07:27period of time during the off season when, when you're doing a lot of the installations and then
00:07:33learning the playbook and it's, it's valuable for the new players. It's certainly valuable for
00:07:37the rookies. I don't think it compares to the on field work. Uh, but considering the circumstances,
00:07:44it's, it's, it's, it's as well as they can do right now. Uh, speaking with Zach Berman, the other
00:07:49thing here, Zach is I think that Doug Peterson's a great coach. And I saw somebody's list came out
00:07:54a couple, about maybe a month ago. He had him in the top five in the NFL right now, if not top four,
00:07:58I think the thing that makes him a great coach is how well he motivates his team, how great a
00:08:04player's coach he is. I think it's a brilliant idea to show footage of other guys working out
00:08:09to everyone on the team as kind of like a highlight package. So players then get the impression,
00:08:14well, I can't be the guy that falls behind because that other guy's working his ass off right now.
00:08:19Yeah, that's a valid point. Yeah. I mean, Doug does put a lot of thought in, into how he organizes
00:08:27off season workouts. Um, you know, he's, he's done different things in the past, introducing,
00:08:32uh, competitions in the weight room where, where you're trying to win a parking spot. Uh, you know,
00:08:37they've, they've gone paintballing, they've, they've gone bowling. Um, so, so Doug does put a lot
00:08:42of thought into that component of it. And, and the reality is he, he, he did not need to do
00:08:48a virtual off season. You know, the, the saints aren't doing one. They're just saying, come back
00:08:52in, in July or August in, in the best shape of your life, ready to play. Uh, Doug did, did not
00:08:58want the players to sit idle. Um, so he thought it was important that they had this component. And
00:09:03I don't know if, if, if, if you can say it's the right decision or the wrong decision, there's really
00:09:09no way of measuring it, but certainly the, the, he is keeping the players engaged virtually this time
00:09:15of the year. Zach, the other thing, uh, it's kind of the meat and potatoes of the press conference
00:09:21session. He had yesterday, the media session he had yesterday, and it comes down to Nate
00:09:24Sudfeld. It comes down to Andre Dillard for Sudfeld first. Usually if I listen to Howie,
00:09:28if I listen to Doug, I end a lot of the phrases in my head with, I don't believe you with Nate
00:09:35Sudfeld. I kind of believe him because it makes sense to rely on a guy that's more been in your system
00:09:40for the last couple of years than it does a rookie. Do you think Nate Sudfeld, at least the start
00:09:44of the season will be the Eagles backup quarterback? I do. And I thought this since draft day. Now I
00:09:51say this with the caveat that if, if, if there's an extended injury, so if Carson's out for six
00:09:58weeks or 10 weeks or the season, uh, then you can go to hurts because you can start to tell where the
00:10:04offense to him. But if, if, if, if Carson goes down in the second quarter of the game or, you know,
00:10:12go back to the, to the playoff game against Seattle, then you can put Sudfeld in and you don't really
00:10:17need to adjust the playbook or adjust the scheme because of the familiarity in the history he has
00:10:24in it. Now the caveat there is, is perhaps if there is training camp or, or I should say when, or if,
00:10:30um, Jonah Hertz comes in and looks outstanding and he, he kind of usurps, uh, Sudfeld on the,
00:10:37on the depth chart. But I, I think at least early in the season and especially with a short-term
00:10:42injury, Sudfeld would be the guy because they, they, they won't need to make a lot of changes.
00:10:48Zach, we heard Doug say yesterday that, that Andre Dillard is the reason they got him is to be the
00:10:53starting left tackle moving forward. And, and that's what they believe in him and they know
00:10:57where he needs to improve. And he went out of his way to praise him. One, is he doing that to get the
00:11:03confidence up of an Andre Dillard? Two, does he believe it? And three, how do you see it playing
00:11:08out? So one, yes. You know, I, I do think that, um, I don't want to call it an overcorrection,
00:11:16but, but certainly it, it, it was, or it seemed to be the plan there to really back Dillard, to,
00:11:24to, to show there's organizational confidence in them because that has come into question this
00:11:29off season. And frankly, if you're talking to Jason Peters and keeping that, that, that dialogue
00:11:35open, then that means at least in part that you do have some questions about whether Andre Dillard
00:11:41can step in at a left tackle. You don't draft a 23 year old in the first round trading up for him
00:11:46and then keep him on ice for two years. You put him in, uh, you know, you, that's, that's,
00:11:51that's not a position that you're patient at. That's the position that, that is almost plug and play.
00:11:56Uh, so to sit for two years would, would really be a bad sign for the Eagles. So I think a lot of
00:12:03that, um, is showing the confidence, whether they believe it or not. Uh, that's a valid question.
00:12:08You know, I, I, I do think that, that they believe Dillard has the tools necessary to play the
00:12:14position and to do well at the position. I thought Jason Kelsey really said it well last week when we
00:12:19spoke to him and he said that what, what Dillard has, you can't teach. You know, there are things that
00:12:26he can add such a strength and he needs to do that. But what he, but in, in terms of the
00:12:31athleticism, in terms of the length, those are things you, you can't add at, at, at this point
00:12:37of your life, at this point of your career. Uh, so I do think that, uh, you know, that, that they
00:12:44think he has the tools, but, but, but there are legitimate questions. And then the third part is,
00:12:48is how's it going to go? You know, a lot of it depends whether there is training camp,
00:12:52how much training camp you have, but I think they're going to give Dillard every shot to
00:12:56win that job. And it's, it's Dillard's job. And if it, and if there is concern this summer
00:13:02and Peters is still out there on the market, perhaps then you have that conversation, but
00:13:07I think going into this season, what your plan is, is to have Andre Dillard in left tackle.
00:13:13Uh, speaking with Zach Berman from the athletic on the Comcast business hotline beyond fast.
00:13:17I just want to backtrack real quick, because one of the things that Nate Sunfeld backup quarterback
00:13:21thing is bringing back to light for me, it's opening the old wound, if you will, of, uh,
00:13:25Jalen hurts in the second round. Um, if you could have Jalen hurts or the field at 53, just real quick,
00:13:31where would you have gone? I would have gone to field. Yeah. And, and I, I say that, uh, you know,
00:13:40I'll, I'll put it this way. I understood the philosophy behind the pick. Um, but I, I did not
00:13:47agree with the execution of it. And, and what I mean is that I don't think that this was the year
00:13:53that they could go with a luxury pick. You know, I, I think last year, for instance, when you had
00:13:58two second rounders and there were fewer needs, um, then you could do a, a, a luxury pick. And then
00:14:03the second part is, and, and I, I don't know if this is getting enough attention that, that Jalen hurts
00:14:09is, is not this like surefire can't miss prospect. Right. Right. You know, there's, there's, there's
00:14:14projection there. So your evaluation is critical. It's not like a first round pick who's, it's not
00:14:20like Aaron Rogers is on the board for the Packers and there's no other way you can go. I mean, this
00:14:26was a debatable selection in terms of value as well. Yeah, no, that's the thing that's jumping out
00:14:31to me. Uh, when I look at that pick, it just, it just seems so odd to me, but to, to move on,
00:14:36because like I said, an open old wound and we pretty much covered up most of it. Um, here's
00:14:40the thing with watching these players remotely and watching their workouts remotely. What,
00:14:46what can a coach really get out of that when you're not seeing them necessarily throw other
00:14:51people around in front of them? I can't imagine much. Yeah. Right. I mean, you, you like to
00:14:58see that, that a guy's in shape. You like to see that he's engaged. You like to see that
00:15:01he's moving. Um, but I, I also think that off season work, even, even when they're all
00:15:07together, it can be overstated. I mean, Nick Foles did not practice or, or, or he did not
00:15:14play in the 2017 preseason, barely practice that spring and summer. Okay. He, he was dealing
00:15:20with injury. He, he, you know, he, he was, uh, there were some personal things he was tending
00:15:25to and he goes on and he wins a Super Bowl MVP. Uh, so all of it comes down to what you do
00:15:30when the lights are on. Zach, do some of the positions that are, are still rail thin, even
00:15:36after a free agency, even after the draft seem to be linebacker running back. I, I, I still wonder
00:15:43if they're going to sign somebody there. What, what positions do you see that you think need
00:15:48addressing and where do you think they will if they do? Yeah, I think personally that, that the
00:15:54position that, that, that needs to be addressed and I'm surprised it hasn't been addressed is
00:15:59defensive end. Um, I think they, they, they could use, uh, better depth at, at edge rusher
00:16:07there. They, they have a lot of depth, but they don't have quality depth guys like Jannard
00:16:11Avery, Sharif Miller, um, Joe Oseman, they're, they're unproven players and that's a, an, an
00:16:17important position for the Eagles. And it's a potential long-term need because Brandon Graham's
00:16:21getting older, Derek Barnett, uh, even though he has a lot of upside, hasn't kind of established
00:16:26himself as, as a pro bowl caliber player. And that's a major position in this organization.
00:16:30And, and I think that's why, uh, you see them linked to some of the big names at the
00:16:35position. I just don't know if they're going to throw the type of salary that would need
00:16:40to go to that. I, I do think they want to grow some of those players organically. Linebacker
00:16:44seems like a hole, uh, but that's not a position that, that I see them prioritizing. I think we'll
00:16:50try to get by with what they have. I do think they're going to add a veteran running back
00:16:54behind Miles Sanders, just to kind of give you, uh, some experience in the room. And then I would
00:16:59also pay attention to potentially outside cornerback, but the fact that they haven't
00:17:03traded Russell Douglas, uh, and it, you know, and, and, and they, they made some changes to his deal
00:17:09there, uh, makes it seem like he'll be back this season. When you talk about the veteran running
00:17:13backs, Freeman, Hyde, and McCoy are three names that come up with a lot of regularity. Is there one
00:17:19name there that jumps out to you more than most? Would you do the reunion with McCoy? Would you bring
00:17:22in Hyde? Would you bring in Freeman? For my purposes as a reporter, do the reunion with McCoy.
00:17:28Yeah, right. That would be fun. Uh, but, but, uh, you know, I think Hyde would be the best fit
00:17:34in terms of complimenting, um, in terms of complimenting Miles Sanders. And I think
00:17:39Freeman of the three is the best player right now. I, I, I agree with that. Um, one last thing for me
00:17:44anyway, speaking with Zach Berman from the athletic on the Comcast business hotline beyond fast,
00:17:48the idea that every other coach in the NFC, when the NFC East, they're a new head coach,
00:17:54uh, at least with their team, they're taking over a new team entirely. Now the Eagles obviously don't
00:17:59have that scenario. However, they have a new system where it's all Doug Peterson, not just
00:18:04play calling, but there's no offensive coordinator. You've brought in Scangrello. For instance,
00:18:08you brought back more Marty morning, like press Taylor now has a little bit more say supposedly
00:18:12in the offense. How is all that going to work without those guys being in the same room?
00:18:16Yeah, that's a good question because you know, there, there are some changes there,
00:18:22but I think the, the thing that that's really been overstated this off season is, is like this,
00:18:28the scheme changes on offense. Doug Peterson said yesterday, they're going to be subtle. And I,
00:18:33I've been saying this all along. The person whose fingers on the button hasn't changed. If they had a
00:18:38new play caller or if, if they had a new offensive philosophy, it would be different. This is still
00:18:43Doug Peterson's offense. He's still calling plays. So, so whenever they get on the field,
00:18:49you know, there are some things that they'll add in, especially with play action, especially with,
00:18:53with rolling out Carson Wentz. But I think in, in terms of what we see every Sunday, whenever they
00:18:59play it's, it's going to look like it looks the past four years. Zach, how, how would you describe
00:19:06the working relationship between Doug Peterson and Carson Wentz? Oh, I think it's a good one. You
00:19:12know, I, I, I mean, I, I think that, uh, they've been tied to the hip now, um, since Carson was
00:19:18drafted. I think that, uh, you know, I, I, I think, you know, I think I, I, I don't believe there are
00:19:24any issues there. Uh, you know, I, I think they understand each other from a play calling perspective
00:19:30than a quarterback perspective. You know, there are things that, that, that they both can do to
00:19:36help the other out. Uh, I mean, Carson wants a lot of control. You know, that's something that,
00:19:41that, that Carson's always kind of saw it. Uh, and then with Doug Peterson, there are, are,
00:19:46are things he can do to get Carson in the space, to let Carson be Carson, so to speak. Um, so there's
00:19:53probably a compromise to be found there, but I think they have a fine working relationship. I don't
00:19:59think there's any issue there. Uh, one last thing, Zach, and it's just a favor if you'd be so kind.
00:20:03Um, next time there's a virtual press conference with Doug Peterson and he's at his desk, just two
00:20:09things. Tell him to stop doodling. I don't know if you guys could see that. I know there was video.
00:20:13It looked like in between questions, there's a little doodle going on there. You'd grab a pen and
00:20:16start doing some paperwork. I'll tell you what I think that was. Yeah. I'll tell you what I think
00:20:19that was. I think Doug was writing down the need of the person asking the question because every time
00:20:25someone asked the question, Doug would repeat the name and that's not something Doug at the
00:20:31lecture. That's good. I think that was a little trick that he was doing. That's good. I thought
00:20:35he was doing his taxes, but who knows? But then there's one more thing. Now you notice in the
00:20:41backdrop, you saw the, the two Superbowl trophies. All right. Great. Then you saw three Green Bay
00:20:46Packers helmets. Uh, right. He played for the Packers for a number of years. Everyone knows that
00:20:50now I am all but sure. And Bob's convinced me that it was his college helmet, but to the Eagles fan,
00:20:59I, it looks like a Redskins helmet over his left shoulder. So if we could just verify whether or
00:21:05not that's a Redskins helmet or not, that'd be great. And I, I, I, I believe that's Northwest
00:21:10Louisiana. All right. All right. That's the helmet I'm saying. I have a book suggestion for him to put
00:21:15on his bookshelf. Oh, so what? Oh, and what book would that be? Zach? I was going to send him
00:21:22underdogs to fell off. Eagles emotional road to full victory. It would look really good right
00:21:26over his left shoulder. Who's the author of that book? And Zach, if, if you weren't able to get
00:21:31it to him, where could Doug find those books? Anywhere books are sold.
00:21:39Brilliantly done. Brilliantly done. Uh, Hey, always great. Oh, you and the family. All right.
00:21:43During all the craziness. Yeah, we're doing well. I appreciate you asking. I, I think my wife and
00:21:47the kids are sick of me by now, but, uh, we're healthy and, and, and doing well. I appreciate
00:21:52you asking. Absolutely. Zach. Thanks so much for coming on, man. Great stuff as always.
00:21:56Anytime. Thanks Zach. Absolutely. Zach Berman from the athletic joint. Crafty. He's a crafty
00:22:01veteran. He's the nicest dude in media. So when I booked him yesterday, cause Addy and him
00:22:07went to high school, he graduated the same year ago. I was like, Addy, can you just look at
00:22:10this Zach Berman text? And she, she read it and I'll tell you what it is. And she goes,
00:22:14he's the nicest man in the world. Salt of the earth, man. I said, Hey Zach, do you mind
00:22:18if we grab you at nine tomorrow? And he said, sure thing. No problem. Thanks for asking.
00:22:25And I went, Addy, you know, he's doing us the favor, right? And he thanked us. Okay.
00:22:30Got it. I bumped into him at Lynn Villa orchards. Oh, no kidding. Right. Like my wife loves Halloween.
00:22:37Like her birthday's around Halloween. So like, I love a hot cider. How could you not? Right.
00:22:41Who doesn't? Not for nothing. I don't go. I don't crave a hot cider. I understand that
00:22:47people, I just got to be real with you. I just, I know people that it's delicious. Does it
00:22:50have alcohol in it? Yeah. You put a little rum in there. No, I'm all right then. Everything
00:22:55can have alcohol. But we bumped into him. And from this, this like tilt to this day, my wife
00:23:02goes, Oh, is he the nice guy? And I'm like, yep, that's the nice guy. That's that you
00:23:06got him pegged. That's how forever he remembers. She remembers Zach Berman. Yeah. One time that
00:23:10she bumped into him. Yeah. I've always liked that. 610-632-0975. But yeah, you pretty
00:23:14much all but confirmed your theory, Bob, that it's his, uh, it's his college helmet in the
00:23:17background. Yeah. Sorry to disappoint you, Mark. I know you want, you wanted it to be a
00:23:22Redskins helmet. I'm happy that it's not a Redskins helmet. I am happy to be, I don't
00:23:28even want to say I was wrong about it. I threw out the theory. I asked the question, was
00:23:33it a Redskins helmet, which yes, would have made zero sense, but we don't know if it's
00:23:37like someone he was friends with. Maybe that's his motivation. Maybe you're, you talk about
00:23:42motivation. Maybe he looks at that and says, the Redskins is like over his shoulder. I've
00:23:49got to see what the Redskins are doing. Yeah. I would, I would doubt that. Yeah. However,
00:23:53I'm glad that I'm on the same page as far as Zach goes with the idea that I actually believe
00:23:59Doug Peterson, when he talks about Nate Sudfeld. And I think Zach's point was good. Like what the
00:24:04early, like if it's in game Sudfeld, we'll just come in and take over the game plan. Right. But
00:24:10if it's a injury that they have, yeah. A couple of weeks to prepare for, you can cater the offense
00:24:15to hurts. Yeah. I think that's when he comes to say that. That was a really good point. And that
00:24:19might not make sense to the casual football fan. Like if he's good enough to play, he's good enough
00:24:23to play. What would be the difference? Well, one would be better suited. Exactly. Yeah. One would be
00:24:27better suited to take over a game plan than a rookie. Yeah. That would be it. And Doug
00:24:31has shown that he's good at that. I mean, look what he did for Nick Foles when he came
00:24:34in for Wentz, you know, he went to the RPOs. He catered the offense to surround, uh, Foles
00:24:39with plays that he was comfortable with. And if you look at hurts, I mean, the knock on him
00:24:44is his inability to throw deep. He's very good at the short and underneath stuff. So like,
00:24:50this is a very favorable system for him. And I think that's part of why they really loved
00:24:54him. I double dog dare him to have like three successful RPOs, like one run, two passes
00:25:00or two runs, one. But imagine this, he can actually run. Nick Foles. Couldn't. Yeah. But
00:25:06he could catch. Yeah. He can catch better than Tom Brady. By the way, that's one of my favorite
00:25:11things on social media right now. My plans. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then the next one
00:25:16is like 2020, 2020. My personal one. Did you put one? Yeah. Mark had a good one. Oh,
00:25:20thank you, Jeremy. Oh, I know. I saw it. I just don't remember what it is right now. Mine
00:25:23was my plans. And then it was a picture of, uh, I hate referring to him as the name Newman
00:25:28from Seinfeld, but it was when it was in Jurassic Park. My plans. He was all giddy. He
00:25:32was all giddy because he was escaping with the DNA. Right. And then 2020 was the monster.
00:25:37Well, the monster, the dinosaur that spit like tar all over him. Yeah. That was, that was
00:25:41my take on it. But I'll say this, my favorite, favorite one. And our buddy
00:25:45Graff sent it to us, sent it to me. I know, uh, was Randy. It was a picture.
00:25:51Oh, that was great. It was my plans. And it was a picture of the pigeon. And then
00:25:552020 was Randy Johnson. That was strong kids. If you didn't see it yet, Google it.
00:26:00That's still wild. It's crazy. What the hell are the odds of that happening?
00:26:05I mean, less than half a percentage, right? I don't know if it was the same year, but I
00:26:10know it was around the same time. Was it Jason Kendall, the catcher for the
00:26:13pirates that like either slid into third base or overstep third base and
00:26:20completely broke his ankle in half. That sounds about right. And they were
00:26:23carrying them off the field and they were getting a closeup and it was just
00:26:26there dangling. Like he popped up and it was like, right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I
00:26:30remember that play. I think that was the same. It might've been the same spring
00:26:34training that had happened. And I remember thinking, wow, I'll never see those
00:26:39things like that again, ever, especially not the Randy Johnson one. Not for
00:26:43nothing, but yeah. No, that's you. Bob's putting the rubber gloves back on. He's
00:26:47just freaked out. What's wrong with you today? No, I'm good. I don't know. I'm a
00:26:50little antsy today. And sweaty? Yeah, they did. I took the gloves off and man, they
00:26:54were, they were soaking sweaty, whatever. So I had to go wash up, you know, sanitize.
00:27:01I might wear the mask for the rest of the show, Mark.
00:27:03That my mask fell on the floor. What? Yeah. So I can't even, do you have, do you
00:27:10have backup? I have backup. I don't have a backup mask on me. It's my own. I actually
00:27:14had three masks on me today. Yeah. Cause I had one in the car, but I thought I lost
00:27:20it. So I grabbed another one. We have all washes. So we have them hanging up in the
00:27:23washroom masks. All right. So I grabbed another one and then I had a backup
00:27:26original and then I found the one I thought I lost. So I'm, I'm three masked up
00:27:30today. So we had an HVAC guy come over yesterday cause we were having a
00:27:32problem. HVAC. I heard eight track. So did I HVAC. I was like, what are we
00:27:37listening to? I was like, Steve Miller. And for the first time I wore a mask in
00:27:42my house. It was weird. Yeah. Cause he arrived as I was feeding Skylar and making
00:27:47myself a sandwich. So we were co-eating and I had it off and then he came in and I
00:27:52had the mask on and I was like, well, what do I do now? And I had to rock the mask in
00:27:57the house and he was too, you know, he had the, the gloves and the footies and
00:28:00the, and the HVAC mask and all that. But I heard the, just the mask. And I was
00:28:04like, this is weird. I felt a little bad yesterday. I got a, I got a meal
00:28:11delivered to the house pizza, which I ate the whole thing. I didn't cry about it.
00:28:15Like Jordan. Wait, all eight slices. Celeste had none. Yeah. It was my pizza.
00:28:21What'd she get? I called BS. She called a salad. You got a salad or something.
00:28:24What? You did not eat eight slices of pizza last night.
00:28:29I definitely ate eight slices of pizza last night. You ate a whole pizza.
00:28:32But not one regular size pizza last night. Hold on. Let me do the math. No, it was a
00:28:37vetri pizza. It was like six slices, I guess. Okay. It was like the. Oh yeah. They're
00:28:41more Neapolitan sized. Yeah. So pizza for one kind of thing. It's bigger than one. I don't
00:28:47want people thinking book it. That's impressive. Pizza for writing, reading like five
00:28:50books. It wasn't like that. It was like a big, it was not a, it wasn't deep dish or
00:28:53anything, but it was, it was like a European. Yeah. It was like an Italian,
00:28:56authentic Italian style pizza. So we got to break this down. What do you do? Do you
00:28:58do three, four at once, give it like an hour and then go back for the other two?
00:29:02How do you attack this? I put it on a plate. All, all six of them. All the, I put the
00:29:07whole pizza on a plate, microwaved it for like 30 seconds, whatever. Cause it's
00:29:09delivery. So I'm just doing that cause I'm a freak. And then I need to put a little
00:29:13water in there to help moisturize. Yes. But the best way to reheat a pizza and this
00:29:17is probably just warm and needed a little zap. Yeah. Yeah. But if you're doing cold pizza
00:29:21reheated, a cast iron skillet with a little bit of water in the bottom, get
00:29:25the hell out of here. It's amazing. Hands down the best way to reheat pizza.
00:29:29I got a toaster oven. Great knowledge by how long does it take? Not long. Like
00:29:33maybe two, three minutes. Do you heat the skillet first? Yeah. I heat the skillet
00:29:35first, put a little water in there and then. Oh. See, I like toaster oven. I go toaster
00:29:39oven. Nope. This blows it out of the water. Really? Swear to you. All right, Jamie.
00:29:43So you're asking me how I ate it. I put it on a plate. I blacked out. The pizza
00:29:46was gone. That's how I ate the pizza basically. Coming up, by the way, somebody
00:29:51tries to justify and clear their name in the pizza delivery story, by the way,
00:29:55for Michael Jordan. Wow. When we come back, we'll take Brian to Northeast. He's
00:29:59got. I'm hungry. He's got a he's got a proposal for why it made sense. Oh, yeah.
00:30:03Let's go to take the Jalen Hurts. So we'll get into that again. But we'll also
00:30:07let you hear the story behind the story of the flu game, which turned into the
00:30:11poison food poisoning game, which has now turned into the BS game. Yeah, it's funny
00:30:15how that just came out 20 some years later or whatever. Time of the fact nine

00:30:44of the league's total earnings if fans aren't permitted to attend games this
00:30:47upcoming season. Teams around the league will be hit differently, varying on their
00:30:51usual attendance. The team said to lose the most money, according to Forbes, is that
00:30:55the Dallas Cowboys, who will miss out on six hundred and twenty one million dollars,
00:30:59followed by the Patriots at nearly half that amount with three hundred fifteen
00:31:02million. The Eagles are ranked ninth on the list, expected to lose just over two
00:31:06hundred million dollars. For more news of the current sports shutdown, keep it locked in

00:35:50Farset in the morning. Now on 97.5 The Fanatic. So you see the story, like they found Pacers
00:35:59Karen, right? Yeah, they did. They found Pacers Karen, the lady that was yelling and screaming
00:36:05all the nasty things at the Bulls. And she was like, oh, there we are. You know, 25 years
00:36:09later, here I am. I'm now a meme. They finally got you. I believe the quote from her husband
00:36:15was you can run, but you can't hide. How many years later? So there you go. Then it comes
00:36:22out that the pizza delivery guy in Utah, where Jordan had the flu game, which then became the
00:36:30food poisoning game is now the complete BS game. Cause the guy's like, yeah, I delivered
00:36:36the pizza. The guy's full of it. Like not a chance. I didn't poison Michael Jordan. All right.
00:36:41We have the audio of the guy. Here is the, here's his explanation of the flu game slash
00:36:46food poisoning game. Now BS game.
00:36:48That's a bunch of crap. You know, it's one of those things where I'm like, well, great.
00:36:51Did you get it diagnosed? Did you go to the doctor and find out? No, all this is innuendo
00:36:55on their part. And they're like, of course it was food poisoning. But one thing I remind
00:36:58everybody is he was smoking so many cigars. They had windows open. He didn't have a shirt
00:37:02on or he's in a tank top or whatever. All the guys were, but as you guys know, darn good
00:37:07well at around three to four o'clock in the afternoon, park city, the sun's gone behind
00:37:11that mountain. So it gets colder up there than it does. Chances are he had this or they could
00:37:15have brought him food from somewhere else. If it really was food poisoning, but that pizza
00:37:18was made. Well, I followed all the rules. Heck I was at the time. I was so busy trying to
00:37:22impress to become the store manager there. I, you know, I followed all the rules and all
00:37:26that food handlers permits, all that kind of crap or not permits, but the teachings, if
00:37:31you will. So anyway, yeah, I, I'm a hundred percent certain it wasn't food poisoning or
00:37:35sure as heck wasn't that pizza. So did he make the pizza or deliver the pizza? Because
00:37:39the guy sounds like he did it all. He wanted to be the manager, but he made it, he packed
00:37:43it, he delivered it. Yeah. But the guy that makes the pizza doesn't deliver the pizza.
00:37:46Oh, you don't know that. Pretty good idea. It's Utah. Things are different. I've only
00:37:51been to Utah once and that was the airport. So yeah. I loved Utah all the times I was
00:37:58there. I really did. It gets a bad knock in my book. Two things I know about Utah. The
00:38:01Olympics were there. Uh, Mormons and that's it. That's all. That's all I got. Dave Chappelle
00:38:06was hilarious because he did the correspondence and for those Olympic games and he was great.
00:38:11But nonetheless, I was, if he didn't deliver the pizza, how does he know that the guy that
00:38:16delivered the pizza, because who's going to know it's Michael Jordan. Who's more so going
00:38:21to know it's the guy making the pizza or is the guy delivering the pizza? I'm thinking
00:38:25the guy delivered. Yeah. I guess he's there. Yeah. Team hotel. Penthouse. I bet.
00:38:31It's Michael Jordan. Now the only thing I didn't see him verify whether or not it was
00:38:35five guys that delivered. Yeah. I didn't hear that part either. Yeah. That's another
00:38:39interesting thing. I don't believe Jordan anyway. Yeah. I was just sitting up there
00:38:45with my friends. We were just hanging out. Yeah. Considering you would drink, according
00:38:48to Jeremy Roenick, uh, what, like 18 Coors lights and go play a game that night. Something
00:38:53tells me you weren't afraid of drinking before a game. Yeah, I, I, exactly. Hey, look, the
00:38:58guy won six championships. So, uh, winning cures all. Apparently it didn't cure the flu
00:39:03or the hangover or whatever it was, but he called it the food poisoning. I was food poisoned.
00:39:08He was thrown up. He was the only one. He ate the whole pizza to himself. And by the way,
00:39:11I, I, let me just say this a whole like Neapolitan, as you put it, Jamie, a whole like Neapolitan
00:39:16pizza. It's just like a regular meal. Yeah. It's not like a, no, a vetri pizza is nothing
00:39:19crazy. Yeah. Like, I disagree. I could eat a whole vetri pizza. Yeah. Bob, you could sit
00:39:24there and you could eat a whole like Neapolitan pizza. Nope. Oh, what Neapolitan? Give me
00:39:29a size. Like it's 16 inches, regular pizza. I think it's 12 inches. 12 inches. Yeah.
00:39:35I don't think so. I eat that. And then I eat a slice and a half. Bob, I ate that. And
00:39:39then I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. And then you had nachos. No, I had nachos for
00:39:43breakfast when I got home yesterday and they were delectable. Cause we had some leftover steak
00:39:47from the night and I just put that over top of the nachos. Good times. Brian. Oh, and then
00:39:51I had a banana. Brian in Northeast Philly. What's up, Brian? Good morning, guys. I hope
00:39:57everybody's well. Thanks, man. See you too, buddy. Hey, I'll just talk about pizza. You
00:40:00guys, now I gotta go get a pizza today. I know I'm starving, Brian. Hey, I ain't gonna
00:40:05be mad at you. I tell you the best pizza is down there at 7 and Chestnut. It's called
00:40:10Pizza Fresca by Lamberti's. I swear they put crack in their dough. Key ingredient, like
00:40:16old world Italian. Sprinkle some crack on it. There you go. Hey, look, I don't agree
00:40:21with this premise I'm going to put out there, but, um, it's, I think it's my, might be their
00:40:27thinking. When Wentz played his best year in 17, when he was going to win the MVP, right?
00:40:34Before he got hurt. Didn't they have the run pass option as a large percentage of their
00:40:39offensive plays? After the fact, when Foles took over, they started putting more of that
00:40:45in. And that's when Frank Reich had the wherewithal to go to, uh, uh, Nick and say, Hey,
00:40:51what made you, you in 2013, I believe it was a 27 and two season. What made you, what are
00:40:58you most comfortable doing? And that's when they went back and did that. I thought it was
00:41:02a lot with Wentz and I thought with the draft, they were thinking that Wentz just can't run
00:41:09through the run pass option anymore. Cause she's not a threat to run. They're thinking. And I
00:41:14think that they think Hertz is going to bring that back at some point. Uh, well, one of the
00:41:18stories that came out about Carson following the injury was that he didn't want to do any
00:41:23of that quote unquote, quote unquote Foles crap. Like he didn't want to run the RPO. Cause
00:41:28that was more of Foles' style of offense. I don't remember them doing, they might've ran
00:41:32a couple of plays. I don't remember them doing a significant amount of it before Foles took
00:41:37over. Cause I remember Wentz running a lot, like pulling the ball back and a pass wasn't
00:41:43open. He would just take off. Yeah. Unfortunately, how he got hurt eventually. Yeah. I don't, I
00:41:49don't, that was a mad scramble. I thought more than it was an RPO, but yeah, I think they
00:41:53did it significantly more. They did it when Foles or when Wentz was healthy. I agree, but
00:41:57I think they did it significantly more when Foles took over. I remember his rookie year, they
00:42:01did it and they ran him out on it after he had a concussion already. So yeah, I'm not saying
00:42:06they didn't do it, but significant. I feel like it was more after Foles. All right. Great show
00:42:12guys. I really appreciate it. Thanks for the, thanks for the kind words. Hope you're doing
00:42:15well. Also my friend, 610-632-0975. Yeah. Like people want to talk about any type of bad
00:42:22relationship between Doug and Carson, as long as there's a good working relationship, then
00:42:26we're all fine here. But I think there is a part of Carson Wentz that wants to play
00:42:29his style. And I don't think his style is necessarily RPOs. I do think he might still think
00:42:35in the back of his mind, yeah, that's full stuff. I don't want to run that. I want to
00:42:38run this other stuff because if you're running an RPO, you're making it a very simple read
00:42:44for the quarterback because you're literally looking at one guy. And if that guy's there,
00:42:48you're firing it to him or you're, you're, you're making the decision to keep it for
00:42:51yourself. Yeah. We haven't, sorry, go ahead. You go. I was just going to say, we haven't
00:42:55really gotten into an RPO offense too, too much with a quarterback that can actually run.
00:42:59Yeah, we haven't. Right. Which should be Carson Wentz, but it was more catered to Nick Foles
00:43:05when he took over. So that's the thing. So I think the offense can, just the point I'm
00:43:09making is the offense can be even better. Where's my, where's my option? If the other
00:43:14guy isn't running like with Nick Foles, it's like, Oh, Foles is going to burn me on this
00:43:18one. Yeah. Better watch him. Yeah. But like, I think we all called for it during the course
00:43:22of last season, like roll out Carson a little more, give him the option to, to move the pocket.
00:43:26And so we'll see. I was going to say, I was going to say that now it doesn't matter
00:43:33anymore. I was going to say Jeffrey Laurie should be coaching the team because he knows
00:43:37he's a North Dakota slinger. He's not, he didn't call him the RPO guy ready to sling
00:43:44it. But here's the thing. If Jalen hurts does go out there, this is again, this is another
00:43:51bag of worms that we're opening up again, because we're talking about a backup quarterback
00:43:54and not just the backup quarterback who they took at that spot when they had the field
00:43:59to choose from after number 52, essentially 53 and on Jalen hurts goes out there and Donovan
00:44:05McNabb even alluded to this and he's not at all wrong. The second Jalen hurts goes out
00:44:09there and shows he can play, whether it's a run, whether it's a pass, Oh boy, start knocking
00:44:14on that door. And if you think that's wrong, you're wrong. And the reason for that is because
00:44:19people already started that argument when Josh McCown took over for a couple of snaps
00:44:23before halftime in week two. Yeah. Well, the offense looked better with them. And there
00:44:29we go. We just got a tweet that you need to address Mark. Our friend, miss Janet snake hole.
00:44:34Okay. She would like to know who the hell ever has leftover steak. I made a question. I made
00:44:41five. You saw the thing I got. You saw the thing I got on Twitter. Oh, right. That was
00:44:47a huge 48 ounce steak. That was a, that was five New York strip steaks and like 10 things
00:44:54of salmon. We ended up giving away some of it to our nanny and like some of my, uh, what
00:44:58he called our neighbors. But like, yeah. So I made five steaks in one sitting. Oh, all
00:45:04right. So I made it for the week. Well, that's psycho stuff. Why is it psycho? I gave one to
00:45:08our nanny. So you made five steaks? I grilled them up. You throw them on the grill. Good to
00:45:12go. Done. Let's do it fresh every time. I wasn't going to grill it by the time our nanny
00:45:16leaves for like five o'clock. What'd you do with all the cooks steak? You gave that
00:45:21away? I don't know. Yeah. I gave it to the neighbors. Why not just give them the steak
00:45:26to grill themselves? Because they ate it for dinner that night. Hmm. Fishy. Oh, it's a
00:45:31fishy. I made them dinner. You're welcome. Hmm. And then I had some, but then Celeste didn't
00:45:36finish her steak. There was leftover steak. I made that for nachos. This story stinks
00:45:40like Jordan's pizza story. And then everyone got food poisoning. And then everyone scored
00:45:4638 points in 44 minutes. Have you ever had food poisoning? Yeah. Not fun. Oh, it usually
00:45:52sucks. I don't want both ends. Yeah. I don't want to be too, just too graphic, but it goes
00:45:57through me rather quick and I'm over it. Yeah. I think laying on the floor of the shower is
00:46:01the best approach. I don't think that's ever happened to me. Oh no. No. Oh yeah. But I
00:46:05have had the, yeah, that was expired. I shouldn't have eaten that. I know right away. Like
00:46:10I took a, I took an oyster once I was at a golf outing. They had like all the, oh, you can
00:46:13eat oysters. So I'm an idiot. And I was like, sweet. And I like had four or five
00:46:17of them. I woke up at 2 AM and I went, those oysters. And then immediately vomited.
00:46:22Yeah. My sister tried to kill me one time. Yeah. She brought up like a, a container of
00:46:28roast beef she had. And I think I just got done playing again. She might've come see
00:46:31me place. I don't even know what it was. And she's like, Oh, you hear you want some
00:46:35roast beef? I did. I thought she came from her friend's house. I didn't know what
00:46:38it was. Sure. Made a couple of sandwiches, ate that. And oh man, I thought I was going
00:46:43to die. Really? Food poisoning is horrible. That one time I took a bite of a pizza steak.
00:46:48I thought I was going to die. Cause that's just God awful. And it goes against everything.
00:46:52It's one of the best things ever. It goes against everything I believe in.
00:46:54I need to try my meatballs.
00:46:58610-632-0975. We come back. We'll hear, we'll let you hear one more time from Doug Peterson.
00:47:02And what I think is his ringing endorsement of Andre Dillard and who's going to be your backup

00:52:22Hey, just as an aside, you know who's not having it during the pandemic?
00:52:26You know who is not having it more so than any people?
00:52:29Having what?
00:52:30They're not having it.
00:52:32Bob, I ain't having it.
00:52:33All right.
00:52:34Take it elsewhere.
00:52:35I thought you meant something more specific.
00:52:36Hit the bricks.
00:52:38Who's not having it, Mark?
00:52:39Costco.
00:52:40Costco.
00:52:41Oh, yeah.
00:52:42They're brutal.
00:52:43Not brutal, but they're...
00:52:44Yeah.
00:52:45Give me your cart and get out.
00:52:47My in-laws are Costco loyalists.
00:52:49Yeah.
00:52:50Like, they...
00:52:51Every...
00:52:51Like, that's why they bring, like, 20 bags over my house all the time.
00:52:55It's because they usually stop at Costco on the way up.
00:52:59And they are probably handling the pandemic better than anybody.
00:53:03Yeah.
00:53:03Do you belong to any bulk place?
00:53:04No.
00:53:05No.
00:53:05Yeah, see, we do.
00:53:06We do the Insta, the Instacart that has a membership to that or whatever it is on Prime.
00:53:11So then they, then we'll shop at those places and bring it to us.
00:53:14But no, I don't...
00:53:15We belong to Sam's Club when I was a kid for, like, a year.
00:53:18Yeah, we have four kids, so we have to...
00:53:20Yeah, you guys got to shop in bulk.
00:53:21Yeah.
00:53:22So, yeah, but there...
00:53:23Did you see the video last night?
00:53:25I did.
00:53:26I love that guy.
00:53:27Tyson, I think it's his name.
00:53:28The guy's like, oh, you're gonna film me?
00:53:30Okay.
00:53:30And then he addresses the camera like he's doing his own PSA.
00:53:34I was like, whatever this guy, if he's not a manager, just forget it.
00:53:37Give him a store and let him keep all the proceeds from the store.
00:53:41Like, that's what needs to be done.
00:53:42And the lady in California, did you see her this weekend?
00:53:46No.
00:53:46She goes up and she goes to go in and the guy says, sorry, you can't come in.
00:53:49You need a mask.
00:53:50And she says, I have a medical condition that says I can't wear a mask.
00:53:52And he says, oh, and I'm not telling you what it is because HIPAA laws say no.
00:53:56And he's like, well, I'm sorry, you can't come in the store.
00:53:58You know, we're here to protect other people.
00:54:00And she just, you're violating my rights.
00:54:03Oh, my God.
00:54:04Okay, sorry we're violating your rights to maybe not get somebody else sick.
00:54:09Yeah, right.
00:54:10Sorry.
00:54:11I'm an American.
00:54:11Sorry for trying to be nice to other people, other humans.
00:54:15I don't get it, is what I'm telling you.
00:54:18Yeah.
00:54:20It's a courtesy.
00:54:21It's a courtesy.
00:54:22Credit to Costco.
00:54:23I mean, what are you?
00:54:24Not only can you get a five-gallon drum of mayonnaise,
00:54:26but you can also make sure that people are safe.
00:54:28So there you go.
00:54:29And buy a TV and pants and all that stuff in the same area.
00:54:32Oh, God, yeah.
00:54:32I can go and get a golf outfit, get a new washer and dryer and outdoor furniture all in the same place.
00:54:40I'll just say this right out of the gate.
00:54:41They're Korean barbecue.
00:54:43Oh, my God.
00:54:43Pots and bags.
00:54:44The beef jerky in particular is what I'm talking about.
00:54:47When I watched that show Meat Eater I was telling you about, I have to have a slice or two just so I can get my own craving out of the way.
00:54:52It's delicious.
00:54:53You're bringing up food an awful lot today, Mark.
00:54:55I'm a hungry man.
00:54:55I'm starving right now.
00:54:57My wife just sent me a recipe for crying out loud.
00:54:59Oh, my God.
00:55:00Come on.
00:55:02That's killing me.
00:55:03Here is Doug Peterson yesterday.
00:55:04I want to hit this one more time.
00:55:05It's Doug on Nate Sudfeld.
00:55:07And it's the rare occasion where I actually believe Doug as to who the backup quarterback will be going into next season.
00:55:14Take a listen.
00:55:14But I fully expect Nate to come in and be aggressive and do the things that he's capable of doing and, you know, become the backup to Carson.
00:55:23And then with Jalen, Jalen's about right now just learning and picking up our system.
00:55:28And, you know, he's another one, another young player that we drafted who there's a lot to learn from the quarterback position.
00:55:34So are we going to take it, you know, a little bit slower maybe with him until he, you know, grasps the offense?
00:55:40You might have to.
00:55:41I think that's what you're going to end up seeing, at least the first half of the season, is Nate Sudfeld.
00:55:46And then they see how Jalen Hurts progresses.
00:55:49I think one thing they don't want to do is make Jalen Hurts feel like he could go in at any given second as a backup quarterback.
00:55:55I think what they're going to rely on is Nate.
00:55:58If there is a long-term thing, you could install a game plan with Jalen Hurts over the course of a week.
00:56:02And there isn't a you're going to miss Carson Wentz for a couple of weeks.
00:56:05Yeah, that most likely long-term solution will go to Jalen Hurts.
00:56:08But the immediate situation, the break glass moment, that'll be Nate Sudfeld.
00:56:13Yeah.
00:56:13And then he also gave a ringing endorsement, the first one we've ever heard, really, of Andre Dillard going into next season.
00:56:18And it seems like that is their plan as of right now.
00:56:22Sam, you just heard right there Nate Sudfeld being talked about by the head coach.
00:56:25Rare occasion I can actually say this after hearing a head coach or GM.
00:56:29I believe you.
00:56:30What are the people saying about who the backup quarterback will be next year?
00:56:33We asked the people, who will the Eagles name as their backup QB, Nate Sudfeld or Jalen Hurts?
00:56:39We had just under 1,600 votes today.
00:56:42Fifty-three percent now say Jalen Hurts.
00:56:44Jalen Hurts has been pretty much winning all year, but it's all year, all day.
00:56:48And it's been all morning, to be more specific.
00:56:51And that's pretty much where the Eagles, I think, will go at the second half of the season.
00:56:55Sam, I think I know your takeaway of the day.
00:56:58But by all means, what is your takeaway of the day?
00:57:01Well, now I feel pressured.
00:57:02What did you think it was?
00:57:03Yeah, I don't know what hers would be either, but...
00:57:05Come on, Sam, be brilliant.
00:57:07I was going to say, mine was going to be that if you think Jack Nicholson was a better joker
00:57:13than Heath Ledger, then you're wrong.
00:57:17Wow.
00:57:18Nailed it.
00:57:18Yeah.
00:57:19That's exactly where I thought you were going.
00:57:20And let me tell you something.
00:57:21Oh, really?
00:57:21Yeah.
00:57:24Sam, I am not trying to evaluate an acting performance.
00:57:28I'm trying to evaluate which I enjoyed more.
00:57:30And Jack Nicholson, I thought, did more service to the joker character than Heath Ledger.
00:57:34Heath Ledger made a dramatic role out of a comic book character, which, yes, was amazing.
00:57:39However, what did I enjoy?
00:57:40Yeah, it was one of the greatest acting performances.
00:57:42You guys are on different sides here, you know.
00:57:43You don't realize this.
00:57:44What are you talking about?
00:57:45She says Ledger was better.
00:57:46You're saying Nicholson was better.
00:57:48Yes.
00:57:48Well, you guys disagree.
00:57:50That's what I'm saying.
00:57:51Okay.
00:57:51I didn't think you guys realized you were disagreeing with each other.
00:57:54Oh, no.
00:57:54Totally disagree with Sam, who's wrong in this argument.
00:57:57Well, she's a kid.
00:57:57She still has pimples on her face, Mark.
00:58:00Hey, look at my face in the...
00:58:02It's clear.
00:58:04She's like, don't you put that shame on you.
00:58:05I don't have wrinkles either, Sam.
00:58:06Totally.
00:58:07Right, right, right.
00:58:08But, no, I'm just saying, better acting performance overall, yeah, it goes to Heath Ledger.
00:58:12But who did more service?
00:58:14Who did a better job portraying the joker?
00:58:16Well, I didn't read the comics.
00:58:17Oh, neither did I, but I know it's a comic.
00:58:21Whatever.
00:58:22Anyway, it's like arguing about Jerry Krause.
00:58:24All right.
00:58:26Nice setup for my takeaway of the day.
00:58:28My takeaway of the day is, man, Sean in Newark hates Jerry Krause.
00:58:31You know what I didn't realize until today?
00:58:33Sean in Newark, mediocre man, is actually Michael Jordan.
00:58:37Michael Jordan's been calling this show this entire time.
00:58:40I did not realize that.
00:58:41Bob Cooney.
00:58:42Yeah, mine was also going to be kind of on that, and I can't believe that part of my
00:58:48show prep for tomorrow is going to be reading the career of Jerry Krause.
00:58:52Never thought I'd say that.
00:58:54My takeaway of the day is that we didn't hear from Jeff and Camden.
00:59:00So I will go through another night where I'm wondering what the hell happened to Jeff and
00:59:03Camden, and until we know the answer to that, I'll be thinking about it.
00:59:07So, Jeff, better give us a call tomorrow, bro.

00:59:18MLB gives options.

00:59:27The MLB supposedly gave their players' union two options the other day when trying to negotiate
00:59:32a return-to-play contract.
00:59:34Option one is to negotiate and agree on players' pay for the shortened season.
00:59:37The league will not pay players' prorated rates without fans in attendance for the games.
00:59:43If players can't agree on an amount with the league, the second option is to just wait
00:59:47out the virus and play when fans are able to return into stadiums.
00:59:50If the two sides can come to an agreement, the league is hoping to be able to have the
00:59:54season completed by the beginning of October like usual.
00:59:57But the MLB is prepared to go into November in case of the second wave.
01:00:01According to John Heyman, teams' biggest fears are completing the regular season and not
01:00:05being able to finish the playoffs.
