00:00Huge flag behind us, we've got plenty of people here having a drink in the sunshine,
00:04celebrating everything that there is to do with St George.
00:06And let's speak to Geoff as well.
00:08Geoff, if I can interrupt your conversation.
00:10Geoff, thank you so much for joining us on GB News.
00:13You're here today celebrating St George's Day.
00:15Why is this day so important for you?
00:18Well, we've been doing it for the last 20, 25 years.
00:21Everybody likes to meet up, we don't see for ages,
00:23and celebrate the patron saint of England, St George.
00:26It was originally from Turkey, and it's our patron saint and Christians.
00:31That's why we do it.
00:32And what is it about its importance, and is it celebrating English history?
00:36Is it celebrating English culture?
00:38What do you think about on a day like today?
00:40Yes, it is about to celebrate our culture and history.
00:43We're proud of our history. Why shouldn't we be?
00:44Everybody else has their national day, and that's what we want.
00:48That's why we all turn out every year.
00:49Talking of everyone having a national day,
00:51do you think St George's Day would benefit from being something like a national holiday,
00:55a bank holiday, like they may be doing Northern Ireland,
00:57like they may be doing Scotland?
00:59Do you think it would be a better thing if England did the same?
01:02Yes, of course it would.
01:03It would be all inclusive.
01:04Like 4th of July, everybody gets a day off in America, they celebrate it.
01:08So why can't we?
01:09Exactly.
01:10And, of course, you know, here in Nottingham as well,
01:12I guess the history is all around us,
01:15especially here at the Old South as well.
01:17Yeah, and the castle behind us, Robin Hood.
01:19We've got plenty of history here.
01:20So, yeah, why not?
01:21We want to have a national holiday. It'd be great.
01:23Geoff, sorry, thank you so much.
01:26You know, St George's Day here being celebrated all around the country
01:29and here in Nottingham.
