00:00Congratulations, this is the final season.
00:04How do you think fans are going to feel about Joe's ending?
00:07Are they going to be satisfied?
00:09Is it going to be a mixed reaction?
00:11What do we think?
00:13I really believe that people will be satisfied.
00:16You know, you can't win them all, but you can't please everybody.
00:21But, you know, we put a lot of thought into this,
00:23very conscientious about what we were trying to say,
00:26what the ending should be.
00:27Obviously be entertaining.
00:29You know, maybe I'm a fool, but I think we'll win the majority.
00:35Yes.
00:35As part of our process, we went through so many different options.
00:38We had one ending in mind for almost the entire season,
00:41and then we changed it at the last minute.
00:42That's all I can say, but it's very exciting.
00:45Oh, my gosh.
00:45Well, now I want to know the original ending.
00:47Well, I know that this season there's a three-year time jump as well,
00:50so how does that switch up the dynamic of the show?
00:55Well, you know, this is me.
00:57Make sure I don't give away anything.
00:59You know, we're starting this show with it.
01:03It's been three years, and Joe hasn't killed,
01:05so he hasn't acted on his darker nature.
01:07So, of course, we have to switch things up,
01:11and we have a season to, you know, create.
01:13So, of course, you know, by the end of the first episode, things may, that may change.
01:19But the idea is that Joe has settled into a life that he's been accustomed to,
01:22that he's fallen for, that maybe isn't as rewarding and fulfilling as he needs it to be.
01:28Why do you think now was the right time to end the series?
01:31Around season three, we, as well as Sarah Gamble and Greg Berlanti,
01:36just decided that we wanted to do a five-season journey for Joe.
01:39We didn't want to overstare a welcome.
01:41You know, we all know those shows that have gone on a little too long.
01:43This felt like something he couldn't get away with forever.
01:46So five seasons felt like the right number.
01:49Well, I know that there's a little bit of a debate going on
01:50on who Joe's most iconic love interest is.
01:55What would you guys say?
01:56Who was his most iconic love interest?
01:59I know the most popular character that wasn't Joe Goldberg was love, of course.
02:06The definite fan favorite.
02:08I'm not going to answer otherwise.
02:12Who do you think would have been the best suited for him
02:16had he not become this obsessive serial killer that we know today?
02:20Gosh, that's a great question.
02:24I think this is a controversial take,
02:26but I think Delilah, who was in season two,
02:28could have been a great woman for Joe.
02:31I didn't hear that.
02:32Yeah?
02:32I like that.
02:33Yeah.
02:33But love killed her, so.
02:36I know.
02:36Oh, my gosh.
02:37R.I.P.
02:38And finally, I wanted to ask,
02:39of course, this show takes obsession to the extreme.
02:42I wanted to know for each of you,
02:44what is your current healthy obsession?
02:49Reading.
02:50I'm so boring.
02:52Love it.
02:52That's a very healthy obsession.
02:54We'll take that.
02:56Gosh, this might not be healthy, but TikTok.
02:58I love to watch TikTok,
02:59and it features in the season, actually.
03:01So, yeah, we made it work for us.
03:03Right from Matt.
03:15So, yeah.
03:15We'll see.
