Haji Baba Story
Transcript
00:00In a quiet village nestled between golden fields and sleepy hills, there lived an old man named Baba Haji.
00:07He was known for his kind smile, wrinkled hands, and a heart that still beat strong despite the many years he had seen.
00:15Baba Haji had little left in the world. His children had long moved to the cities, and most of his friends had passed off.
00:23But he was never lonely, for he had one companion who stayed by his side through every season, a frail, old cow named Nandi.
00:33Nandi was once the pride of the village, strong, milk-giving, and graceful.
00:38But age had crept into her bones, just as it had into Baba Haji's.
00:43Her ribs now showed beneath her dull fur, her legs trembled when she stood, and she barely had the strength to move.
00:51The villagers often whispered, telling Baba Haji that it was time to let her go, but he would shake his head and reply,
00:59She's family.
01:00Each morning, the old man would carry a bucket of water and a handful of grass to Nandi.
01:06He'd sit beside her, humming old songs, brushing her coat with slow, gentle hands.
01:13Even though she was weak, Nandi always lifted her head when she saw him, her eyes soft, grateful, and full of silent understanding.
01:23One day, a terrible drought struck the village. The rivers dried up, the grass turned to dust, and the sun burned endlessly.
01:32People began selling their animals, or moving away. Baba Haji, too, had no more grass, and the well behind his home offered just a few drops of water each day.
01:44He grew thinner, yet still he fed Nandi before himself.
01:48One night, as the stars twinkled faintly through the dry haze, Baba Haji sat beside Nandi, whispering,
01:56I think it's our last night, dear friend.
02:00But Nandi, weak as she was, struggled to her feet.
02:03Slowly, with great effort, she walked toward the edge of the village.
02:08Baba Haji, surprised, followed her, his legs stiff and tired.
02:14They walked for what felt like hours, past the old fig tree, beyond the abandoned well, and into the forgotten valley behind the hills.
02:23And there, hidden in the shadow of the rocks, was a tiny spring, clear, cool water trickling from the stones.
02:31Grass sprouted around it, fresh and green. Baba Haji fell to his knees in joy.
02:38Nandi, panting, drank deeply and lay down peacefully beside the spring.
02:43It was as if she had remembered a place from long ago, a place of life.
02:49From that night on, Baba Haji and Nandi lived near the spring.
02:53They planted seeds, tended a small garden, and slowly, others in the village came too.
03:00The valley became a place of new beginnings.
03:02All thanks to the final strength of a cow who wouldn't give up,
03:06and an old man who never stopped believing in loyalty, love, and hope.
