00:00I know there's going to be moments that you need to rest, but also bring joy into it.
00:06You know, put music into it, joy, march, make it, because joy is resistance, too.
00:13And so make sure that you should be nervous.
00:16It is.
00:18You know, I love that you guys are having so much fun with the signs.
00:22They're hilarious.
00:23I mean, even though your dogs have signs.
00:25So this is amazing, but this is the way to do it.
00:28But also take care of yourself.
00:30Show for each other to take care of each other, but also don't let them paralyze.
00:33That's just exactly what they want us to do.
00:36They want us to be paralyzed, fear, don't move, don't do anything.
00:40And remember this.
00:41You know, you might know, I come from an incredibly very beautiful, I think, 12th congressional district.
00:47I grew up in Wayne County.
00:48And sometimes I find that, you know, a black pastor told me this.
00:51I find that sometimes we're disconnected.
00:54They build these issues of disconnecting.
00:56Our country is not divided.
00:59We are disconnected.
01:00Right?
01:00We're not divided.
01:01We're disconnected.
01:02Connect with each other.
01:03Again, I can tell you, every single one of you have stories you can share with other mothers, other folks that are taking care of their loved ones, seasoned residents.
01:13Because all of us have these stories that are impactful.
01:16That's how we connect with each other.
01:17Because the division that they're trying to create by targeting certain people and so forth, knowing the slippery slope, we're always understanding, I do, that when somebody do cross their constitutional rights, when somebody cares, they always end up coming to our backyard.
01:34It never, it never, never changes.
01:36Look at our history.
01:37It always ends up in our backyard.
01:38I say this about auto insurance.
01:40Don't get me started.
01:42Where everybody thought, that's not our issue.
01:43Well, guess what?
01:44Now, 90% of zip codes in the state of Michigan have unaffordable auto insurance, right?
01:49So, don't let them expand and grow in this, you have to fight back together and show up together.
01:57I will leave you with this.
01:59Community mothers taught me this.
02:01You know, I remember, like, feeling, you know, moments of, because I grew up in a very, very polluted community.
02:08I always thought, wow, Marathon and USC, everybody's going to continue to pollute our community.
02:13It always smelled like rotten acres growing up.
02:16I just thought, you know, this is awful.
02:19You know, I grew up four blocks north of Delaware neighborhood.
02:22Yeah.
02:23And community mothers remind me that we don't get transformative change because of who's in the White House or who's in Congress.
02:32We didn't get the Civil Rights Act because the President of the United States woke up and said, wow, that's a really good idea.
02:38Or we didn't get the right to organize unions because somebody in Congress said, let me introduce yourself, it's a great idea.
02:43It's when people organized in the streets and they demanded that change.
02:48You all have that power to move in an institution like Congress that is broken.
02:52I'm there.
02:52I'm going to have a front row seat to it.
02:54People have access to them that will never, ever, I mean, we constantly are trying to compete with it, right?
02:59I mean, look how many of them take corporate tax money.
03:02They take money from the same people that are hurting their constituents.
03:05They are choosing the billionaire class, getting those tax breaks, making us believe that it's about jobs, when at the end it isn't.
03:14It's about greed, corporate greed.
03:17You all have the power to move this institution and move your member of Congress.
03:23And, again, it inspires me to see this rule.
03:26This is how we, again, fight against the fascist regime that is there.
03:31And, again, these are many people in my community who have really thought, God, I didn't know it was going to be this bad.
03:38I don't shame or blame.
03:40I said, you ready to join us in this fight?
03:42And they will join us.
03:43Thank you all so much.
03:45I really appreciate it.
