00:00You know, in the past professional district, one of the things we did yesterday, we had to resist together town hall and training because folks are showing up and I want you all to be equipped, right?
00:13But also to understand what the real impact is of $880 billion cut to your community.
00:19So I'm going to show you, again, in numbers, but behind every number is a parent with a child that relies on Medicaid, is a mother who relies on prenatal and postpartum care, all of that.
00:32It is a person that relies on long-term care to be covered by Medicaid.
00:36So just remember with these numbers.
00:37So it is important to understand, again, what the impact is in the town's congressional district.
00:43So we know that hundreds of millions of Americans.
00:46You should know, as the founder of the Congressional Mamas Caucus, over 40% of births around the country depend on Medicaid.
00:55Yes.
00:56But I want you to see this.
00:57This is your congressional district.
00:59This is your backyard.
01:01Look how many individuals, 23% of Congressman John James' district relies on Medicaid.
01:0823%.
01:0869,000 of them are children, including 17,000 children who have disabilities or are living with disabilities.
01:18Yes.
01:18Exactly.
01:19And as a person that is a mom with an autistic child, I know how important it is for the wraparound programs and services.
01:26And let's be honest.
01:27You know, Medicaid is that band-aid to sick care in our country.
01:30We don't have health care.
01:31We have sick care.
01:32It's driven by profit.
01:32And one thing that Medicaid has done, though, because it's not a choice, it's a life-saving tool that has provided care for our families.
01:412,800 births per year in the congressional district, again, that depends on the postnatal, prenatal.
01:47And we're just finishing up Black Maternal Health Week.
01:50Again, Michigan is one of the worst in the country when it comes to Black Maternal Health.
01:5417,000 seniors, including over 1,000, receive care through Medicaid, long-term care.
02:03Next slide.
02:04I want you to know, again, about 2022.
02:08Again, these numbers might not be fully updated, but I want you to see.
02:12Now, you see this number and you're like, wow, but that's your money.
02:16This is your money.
02:17Don't let them think that it's something that, this is the bare minimum of what they can do while they have Big Farm on the health industry.
02:26It's going to be driven by profit.
02:28We're subsidizing that with this care.
02:33It is important for you, again, we see.
02:36Again, what the importance here of is that we're covering.
02:39This is something that would devastate a family.
02:41I've seen it.
02:42I've seen the people on private health care have to put a mortgage on their home or file bankruptcy because of medical debt.
02:50Next slide.
02:53Again, we should, again, this is very important for you to know that in the town congressional district, 55,000 adults gain coverage through the expansion.
03:00Again, how many of you are in Affordable Care Act?
03:03The budget proposal, I am too.
03:05I know I'm not one of the millionaires that is in Congress.
03:08But one of the things to know is the data shows that it will be a 50%, 40% to 50% increase in the Affordable Care Act.
03:17That's about $630 per year addition of what you already pay with the $880 million they're putting in there.
03:26Again, that's nearly a trillion dollars.
03:27Again, it's really important.
03:28And I know Medicaid, what's important, again, to the economy for you all to see, this is important.
03:36But hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, all the areas in the district among areas are the largest employers that have deep economic ties to Medicaid.
03:44That's why you see Coralwell and others.
03:46Now, again, they need to be checked, too.
03:47I'm going to be on record of that.
03:50No, we do.
03:50Because they have shareholders.
03:53Hospitals have shareholders now.
03:54Even though I have a 501c3 status, again, you have sick care in our country, not health care.
04:01So Medicaid is critical for the town professional district.
