President Trump Signs Workforce Development Executive Order: 'This Is Like A Training Center'

During an event in the Oval Office on Wednesday, President Donald Trump spoke about workforce development.

00:17Okay.

00:19Next, sir, we have an executive order on workforce development.

00:23This executive order is going to charge numerous departments and agencies within the government

00:28to reshape the way that we do workforce development.

00:31One example from the executive order, for instance, we're looking to get the total number of apprenticeships,

00:37new apprenticeships, up to a million in the country to ensure that in critical jobs areas

00:44and areas where we currently don't have enough trained workers, that we're recreating that pipeline

00:50to ensure that particularly as we onshore industrial jobs and new industries,

00:55that those industries have the workforce they need to be competitive globally.

01:00Very important.

01:01And this is the EO that we're all here working together.

01:05And in a way, this is like a training center, right, for what we're trying to do,

01:10which is jobs and great salaries.

01:13These are great salaries, too.

01:15Right.

01:15That's exactly – so all those factories that you're bringing in because of your trade policy,

01:20we're going to train people in tradecraft, bring back tradecraft to America so that people can work

01:26in these factories with great-paying jobs, and we're going to train them,

01:30and we're going to remake the American dream for all these people.

01:36This plays right into America at Work Tour, which I have kicked off.

01:41We will work with our state partners and work with our businesses to see exactly who they need in that workforce,

01:46and we will skill and upskill these apprentices so they can get right to work

01:50and get in the field and build back this economy for exactly living the American dream.
