HOORAE founder and CEO Issa Rae discusses the marketing campaign for the upcoming film "One of Them Days"

00:00This was also the inaugural film from Hooray Productions.
00:04You know, there's the great needle drop.
00:06There was an incredible digital marketing campaign behind it,
00:10and it grossed over 50 million worldwide.
00:12You know, this targeted word-of-mouth campaign.
00:15Talk a little bit about how you all worked together
00:18to pull off this incredible project and where it began.
00:22You know, this is what our ecosystem is about,
00:27and we really got to shine and collaborate
00:30in the way that we were intended to with this film,
00:34from obviously down to the music
00:36and developing the script for seven years.
00:42And that wasn't just developing the script.
00:43This was such a long process just to make it theatrical
00:48and learning what a theatrical movie
00:52and a theatrical comedy could be,
00:54and a lot of that came down to, obviously,
00:56the script development, but the casting.
00:59We were lucky enough to have Kiki on board five years ago,
01:03and then castes in the last year.
01:06And then to be able to work with Sarita Singleton,
01:09who penned the script, who's a color-creative client,
01:11and hired Lawrence Lamont as the director,
01:14who's also a color-creative client
01:16and a first-time feature filmmaker,
01:18and just knocked it out the park.
01:20And then you mentioned being able to have a strong hand
01:23in the digital campaign and collaborate with Sony
01:26and TriStar to bring it to life.
01:28So we had our hands in every part
01:31of making this movie possible,
01:32and it's just so exciting that it was so well-received.
