00:00All 19 polling centers for the Ayer Kuning by-election have closed, and vote counting is underway.
00:07According to officials, 18 centers closed at 6 p.m., while one center in Tohtandewa Sakhti closed earlier at 4 p.m.
00:16As of 4 p.m., voter turnout stood at 54%, with 31,315 people eligible to vote.
00:22The by-election is a three-way contest between Barisan Nationals Dr. Muhammad Yusri Bakir, Abd-Muhaymin Malek of Perikatan National, and K.S. Bawani of Parti Socialist Malaysia.
00:34Results are expected to be announced around 9 p.m.
00:38The by-election was called following the death of incumbent Tapa Amno Chief Issam Shahruddin, who passed away from a heart attack on February 22.
