00:21Russia has said that all Ukrainian troops have been forced from the Kursk region, while Ukraine claims that fighting continues.
00:30Roughly 250,000 people, rich and poor alike, bade farewell to Pope Francis on Saturday.
00:39Cardinal Giovanni Battista Ray drew applause during a highly personal sermon.
00:44The Dean of the College of Cardinals recalled Pope Francis as a Pope of the People.
00:51After the funeral mass on St. Peter's Square, the Pope's coffin was moved to the Basilica of St. Mary Major for a private burial.
00:59Despite the attendance of presidents and princes, it was prisoners, transgender people, migrants, and the poor who welcomed the Pope's coffin at his final resting place in the Basilica.
01:11The Pope choreographed the funeral himself and hoped that the ceremony would reflect the priorities of his papacy.
01:18The late pontiff's aim was to emphasize his role as a mere pastor rather than a powerful religious leader.
01:24U.S. President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky met on Saturday before the funeral service for Pope Francis,
01:39with Trump later expressing doubt about Russian President Vladimir Putin's plan to end the war.
01:45The Trump-Zelensky conversation on the sidelines of the Pope's funeral was the first face-to-face encounter between the two leaders
01:53since they argued during a heated Oval Office meeting at the White House in February.
01:59Zelensky called it a very symbolic meeting that has the potential to become historic if joint results are achieved.
02:07The direct, impromptu meeting of the two leaders strongly contrasted with the public snipes of the last few days,
02:14raising hopes for an end to Russia's war on Ukraine.
02:18However, as Trump departed the Pope's funeral, the U.S. president and social media expressed news capitalism that a peace deal can be reached soon.
02:27Trump said in a post that there was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities, and towns over the last few days.
02:35Russia has ramped up its assaults on Ukraine in recent days with the last attacks on Kyiv, killing at least 12 people.
02:47At least 25 people were killed and 800 others injured after a large explosion rocked an Iranian port near the city of Bandar Abbas.
02:57Social media footage showed reddish-hued smoke rise from the fire before the detonation.
03:02This suggests a chemical compound may have been involved in the blast, like in the explosion in Beirut in 2020.
03:10Authorities have offered no cause for the explosion yet, and the Interior Ministry said it had launched an investigation into the blast.
03:18However, private security firm Ambry linked the explosion to a recent shipment the port received.
03:23They say that in March, the port took a shipment of solid fuel intended for the use in Iranian ballistic missiles.
03:31The firm claims the fire may have started as a result of improper handling of this shipment.
03:37The explosion at the port caused tremors that were felt in nearby cities.
03:42State television also reported that a building had collapsed as a result of the bang, although no further details were offered.
03:48Russia's top general said in a meeting with President Vladimir Putin that all Ukrainian troops have been forced from Russia's Kursk region,
04:01parts of which Moscow lost control over to a surprise Ukrainian incursion.
04:06Ukrainian officials, however, said the fighting was still continuing.
04:10Ukraine's general staff said Ukrainian troops continue to hold positions and inflict fire damage in the region.
04:16Russia also confirmed that North Korean soldiers had fought alongside the Russians against Ukrainian troops in Kursk,
04:24the first direct admission of their presence.
04:29Meanwhile, Russian attacks continued across Ukraine overnight into Saturday,
04:34killing at least three people, according to local officials.
04:38Two people died in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region and another in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
04:43Several people, including an 11-year-old girl, were injured in the attack.
