00:21okay here we are in the library so we are in Canada all the books are in Canada except the
00:51children's book part in Canada part in the United States so here all the books are in Canada if you

02:31yes, thousands of people need there are HDOMs as they can grow up around the Cobus
02:37there and other people can be traction now and you can see a couple of small districts even
02:39around what the call centers want and we can hear them are 충분 protection
02:42Our access to the United States to enter through the United States has been closed.
02:57It's not closed definitely until the 1st of October, but only members can go through
03:02that access and starting October, October 1st, it's going to be completely closed for
03:11everyone.
03:41So the access is really the sidewalk.
03:45So it's been there for 120 years.
03:49So people from the Canadian side were able to go across in the United States, entering
03:55the huge big entrance in the United States without being controlled or checked by the
04:04communities.
04:06And now it's been with the new administration, now it's been closed.
04:34This is the United States, the parking lot is in the United States, and this part here
04:46is in Canada.
04:49So this is going to be our Canadian entrance.
04:51We will redo all the outside, all the wood outside.
04:54We will redo it.
05:16Now everything changed.
05:18So we needed to have an entrance in Canada.
05:24Because if we don't have that entrance in Canada, it means that everyone that are in Canada would
05:30have to go through the port of entry, official port of entry.
05:35And for some people, they don't have a passport.
05:38When we have schools coming with buses, kids don't have their passport.
05:44So this is why we used our, just right here, the emergency exit to make it as a Canadian entrance.
06:14The patrons and all the people in the two communities were very mad.
06:25They were frustrated.
06:28Americans were apologizing because they were just like, this is not us.
06:37We don't want this.
06:39People felt betrayed because the symbol of the library is really friendship, unification.
06:53But I see it that what happened is we raised above all that.
07:00We rose above all that because people stuck together and they said, okay, let's do it.
07:07We will show them that it's not because they are doing this, that we will stop being friends,
07:15that we will stop coming to the library, that we will stop giving our support to the library.
07:23So it was a movement of solidarity that was amazing and still amazing, still.
07:32The kids' room is the same thing, you know.
07:36We have the line here also and we also, the only thing is for the kids, you know, we don't put them in there.
07:47Right now, everyone is trying to divide us.
08:02This is what's happening right now.
08:04They want to create a division because when you are divided, you can control more people.
08:10So this is what they are trying to do and it's not, I mean, it's working in a way because there are some people that get into that movement a lot.
08:20You know, some Canadian as much as American, but people that can see through this, they don't want that.
08:29So this is a great place to show that we are not divided here.
08:41We are not.
08:43There's a line on the floor, yes, that says Canada and United States, but in our heart, we are not.
08:52So I've heard a lot about the library from years ago.
08:55My parents used to come here a lot on their trips from Canada to the States.
08:59And it was just kind of a neat thing that you could be in both countries in one building without having to show your ID.
09:04And now, yeah, it'll be different.
09:06I think it'll change the vibe, even though I've never been here otherwise, but it seems kind of a little sad in a way.
09:13It used to be where they could just walk around and come in here and now they have to use a different.
09:19And that just seems ridiculous.
09:23It looks, I mean, it's just extra work.
09:28And the whole point of this was supposed to be like positive relations.
09:34So, yeah, I was so, oh, gosh.
09:41Yeah.
09:42I have a lot of feelings about what's going on right now, apparently.
09:45I was so excited when I found out about this library straddling the border and it seemed really fun.
09:50You know, like even like the little line on the floor, like there's an old episode of the sitcom, I Love Lucy, where they're having a fight, I think, and they put tape down the middle of the apartment.
10:02You know, this is your half and this is my half and it's all a big joke and it's really fun.
10:07And I think that with what's going on right now, you know, and Canada having been one of our closest allies and trade partners and friends for so long and that the feeling is, it's just, it's a little different.
10:23But, you know, it's, I'm glad that we're still, you know, here on the, you know, kind of state and province level and the people level to be able to interact with each other, whatever's going on, you know, with our government and yours right now.
10:40I mean, I understand what the thinking, but it seems to me that's the kind of decision that's made at a very high level of bureaucracy.
10:48And if somebody were to come down here and observe and actually pay attention to how the library functions, then you might get a different decision.
10:56But that's often not how government decisions are made.
11:01I just think it's kind of overkill, personally. I don't think there's a whole lot of ruffians and terrorists streaming through the library to get into the U.S.
11:16What I was expecting was to see like a bunch of Border Patrol in the center of the library, but I'm glad it's not like that.
