00:00Hi guys and welcome to DriveSpark, I'm Prameet and in today's video we are going to tell you about the Delhi Merritt Expressway that launches an automated toll collection system so you can now say goodbye to your fast tags.
00:13Now what exactly is this thing we'll be telling you in this video so let's quickly start this video.
00:18Now the Delhi Merritt Expressway is pioneering a new toll collection system set to transform the highways across India.
00:24This system will allow the vehicle to pass through toll plazas without stopping as the fee will be automatically deducted from the linked account.
00:32This expressway is expected to serve as a model for similar implementation across nationwide.
00:38Now the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway plans to install automated number plate recognition that is the ANPR technology on all expressways and national highways.
00:48Cameras at the entry and exit point capture vehicle number plates which are connected to the fast tag system for automated toll deduction.
00:56This eliminates the need for the vehicles to slow down at toll booths and which is again a really good thing.
01:02The Ministry basically aims to remove toll barriers entirely reducing the wait time for vehicles while they may have an initial adjustment period.
01:11The Ministry has chosen not to use GPS technology due to concerns about the reliability and security.
01:16A recent expert committee highlighted potential issues with the GPS-based toll collection system leading the Ministry to explore alternative solutions and they have found this one.
01:27The new system will solely rely on the number plate reading cameras and avoiding the GPS technology altogether.
01:35The goal is basically to create a more efficient toll correction process so that the travelers can have an ease on the Indian highway and also help in reducing the congestion at toll plazas.
01:46The successful implementation of this technology on the Delhi Merit Expressway could soon set a benchmark for other regions across India.
01:54Now the advantage of this is basically you will not have to wait on the highways.
01:58There are huge number of lines due to fast tag.
02:02Some people have a fast tag.
02:03Some people don't have a fast tag.
02:05The rule also says that if you are waiting for more than 10 seconds on the national highway,
02:09then obviously you don't have to pay toll but no one pays attention to that toll is always being collected whether you have to wait for 10 seconds or whether you have to wait for 10 minutes.
02:20So this system will basically eliminate everything and it will become a very easy process.
02:27The Ministry also is putting effort on enhancing the travel experiences of the drivers across India.
02:32This automated system addresses as I mentioned the long-standing issues while ensuring no charge on the toll fee is expected.
02:41This automated system addresses long-standing issues while ensuring no change in toll fee is expected.
02:47So going forward, this can be implemented on many highways so that you can avoid the traffic and do not have to wait at toll stops.
02:56So yeah guys, this was the Delhi Merit Expressway that launched the automated toll collection system.
03:02So if you like this video, please give it a thumbs up.
03:04And if you need to know anything else about this system, please comment down in the comment section and we will get back to you on that.
03:09Until then, I'm Prameet signing out. See you next time.
03:11Thanks so much for watching.
03:12Take care, be safe and drive safe.
