00:00Welcome to your afternoon weather update from the Met Office. The sun continues to shine and temperatures will continue to rise over the next few days and some warm nights in places as well.
00:10There's not been a gloriously sunny start to Tuesday everywhere. Thick cloud and drizzly rain across northern Scotland.
00:16That will continue for a time over the Northern Isles in particular, but steadily starting to ease, certainly from the mainland and for the vast majority from central Scotland southwards.
00:26It is a cracking day if you like blue skies and spring sunshine.
00:30There's a little bit of a breeze blowing along the south coast, but otherwise light winds and in that strengthening sunshine, feeling pretty warm.
00:39Certainly a warmer day than yesterday over southern Scotland, Northern Ireland. Temperatures over 20 Celsius here and further south.
00:45Temperatures a degree or so higher than yesterday, probably peaking at 25, 26 degrees somewhere on the M4 corridor.
00:52It's a little cooler on the east coast of East Anglia and parts of Kent with the breeze coming in here.
00:58Temperatures closer to average here as they are across northwest Scotland.
01:02But this map is showing how those temperatures for many of us are significantly above the mid-month average, 6 to 9 degrees for most places.
01:12And it's going to be warmer still on Wednesday.
01:15Still some thick cloud over the Northern Isles through the evening, but the drizzly rain should be disappearing through the afternoon.
01:20We may see this warm front bringing a bit more drizzly rain to Shetland through the early hours.
01:25But otherwise, it's a dry night.
01:27It may turn a little misty here and there, but for most places, long, clear spells.
01:31With those clear skies and light winds, temperatures will be tumbling over eastern areas in particular, well down into single digits here.
01:39But notice for the west, temperatures holding up, particularly to the west or northwest of hills.
01:45Temperatures could really hold up. It could be a very warm night through parts of northwest Wales, for example.
01:50Temperatures may hold up in the mid or even mid to high teens here.
01:54So a very warm night for some, a cool start for others.
01:58But overall, it's another warm and sunny day for the last day of April on Wednesday.
02:02Even Orkney looking brighter tomorrow.
02:05It's still some patchy cloud at times over the far north of Scotland.
02:08Small chance of, even in the afternoon, a shower breaking out over the northeast of the mainland.
02:13Possibly the odd shower too in Shetland.
02:16But otherwise, dry, fine, lots of sunshine.
02:20And as I said, those temperatures will be ticking up.
02:22So more widely, over 20 degrees Celsius.
02:2522, possibly 23 for parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
02:29For England, the wells, 24, 25 quite widely.
02:31And we could squeak up to 26, maybe 27, perhaps even 28 through Wednesday afternoon.
02:37So a very warm day for the last day of April.
02:41We will start to see a hint of a change through Wednesday night and Thursday.
02:45Clouds starting to thicken.
02:47And maybe some rain heading towards the Western Isles during Wednesday night.
02:51And that will mean a cooler day on Thursday further north.
02:54But in the south, Thursday likely to see the peak of those temperatures.
