We were given a sneak peak inside the new seven-figure exhibition and retail unit due to open at The Royal Yacht Britannia on Monday, May 5, 2025.
Transcript
00:00I headed along to the Royal Yacht Britannia at Ocean Terminal to check out the changes that have been made with the new exhibition and retail experience two years in the making and costing a substantial seven-figure investment to pull off.
00:18Although work was still ongoing when I was there to finish off this new attraction, it's clear to say it will make such a big difference to the Royal Yacht Britannia experience.
00:26And I spoke to the attraction's PR marketing managers to find out more.
00:31This new exhibition and shop of ours has been two years in the making, from design until this is almost finished, really close, really excited to be opening next week.
00:41It's a bigger space, there's a lot more in it, there's a lot more to absorb, there's some amazing photography, photos from the Royal Collection Trust that have never been seen before.
00:52So real, quite exciting things for our visitors to enjoy when they get here.
00:58Much thought has went into the new visitor attraction at the Royal Yacht Britannia, with the style matching that of the boat itself.
01:08While the more modern, high-tech part of the exhibition gives visitors so much information and lots of old photographs of the Royal Yacht Britannia in its heyday.
01:22And Jen explained to me just what visitors can expect at this new attraction when it opens next week.
01:28So when our visitors arrive, we'll get a real taste of what to expect on board.
01:33We like to think of the visitor centre as a warm-up act of the yacht itself.
01:37You'll see that we've echoed the interior decor of the state apartments and the welcome corridor.
01:44There's just some lovely touches and lots of gold leaf that you would see on board the yacht.
01:49And then you'll follow through the exhibition, collect your audio guide, which is complementary with your tour,
01:55and then step aboard the yacht itself to explore five decks of history and heritage.
02:01While there is so much to see in this new exhibition, the information on display has been kept to a minimum
02:07to allow visitors to enjoy the full experience on board the Royal Yacht Britannia and learn more there.
02:12Here is where visitors will pick up their audio guides before coming aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia.
02:22And here is the new, much larger retail unit where visitors will end their trip.
