00:00Creating new businesses, generating thousands of new jobs for young workers and growing
00:10international exports. Uzbekistan's tech and ICT sectors are surging. What's fueling it
00:18and how is it changing the country's economy? Hello and welcome to the program. Boasting more
00:27than 9,700 companies and over 200,000 specialists. Uzbekistan's tech and ICT industries are developing
00:37fast. Total revenues reached 4.1 billion euros last year with services now exported to around
00:4590 countries. We've been to meet some of the businesses making it happen. From animated
00:53children's shows to big movies. All this has been created by UnitedSoft, a company specializing
01:02in visual effects and computer generated imagery. Based in Tashkent, some of its content has made
01:09it all the way to Bollywood. You see the growth of the company in terms of not just the number
01:15of the teammates that I have, but also the amount of projects and the scale of the projects that
01:21we're working on is of course really exciting. Our plan is to start working on the more bigger
01:28scale projects such as Hollywood. UnitedSoft is a member of IT Park, which runs an ecosystem
01:35of support to develop business. With branches across Uzbekistan and representation abroad,
01:42it helps to create jobs for tech-savvy young workers and attract foreign companies, which
01:49already make up over 600 of its members. We provide tax and custom benefits. We also have
01:57visa benefits for them. We have big access to the talent pool. For example, in our country,
02:03we have 21 million working age professionals, including 5 million English speaking specialists.
02:10And we also have the programs for the local companies to expand their businesses internationally.
02:15We also provide incubation and acceleration programs for startups.
02:21Task Vision, another IT Park member, deploys artificial intelligence and cloud-based technologies
02:28to analyze customers in retail stores, providing insights to drive up profits.
02:34Csak Zod started the company when he was just 19 and is now operating in seven countries.
02:43We connect with the store's existing CCTV cameras, and we provide our own AI camera, and we collect
02:50customer data and goods data in real time. We are giving just data about the demographics and age gender,
02:56and also how many customers are coming in, and in what zone they are spending time, what they are looking for,
03:03and what about the touch points between goods and humans.
03:07Technology is also transforming public services.
03:13Oozinfocom is helping to make it happen.
03:17We are witnessing significant changes in public services and e-government in Uzbekistan.
03:24For example, Mighty Palm, our system for recognizing your veins in your hand.
03:29We use it in the public transport, like in the metro, but we can use it in retail.
03:34It's more efficient and more secure.
03:37The growth of Uzbekistan's tech and ICT sectors is future-proofing its economy and positioning the country as a leading innovation hub in Central Asia.
03:49Let's get more now from Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies, who's in Tashkent.
03:59So, Minister, why all this growth, then, in tech and ICT?
04:02It's because we had the bold vision of our president to make Uzbekistan an IT hub, which is creating the job opportunities, highly paid job opportunities for our use.
04:12And Uzbekistan had a young and growing population, and we need to create the jobs within Uzbekistan.
04:18And how is this, then, driving sustainable growth in the country?
04:21Uzbekistan used to be mostly an agrarian country, and we are now trying to focus more on new service sectors' growth.
04:31And we had the highest growth rates in the ICT-related services, in fintech, and in all these new start-ups areas.
04:38So, this is an enabling growing field for our young talents to grow their ideas to make future successful start-ups.
