00:00As children, Bill and his friends made a promise after eliminating Pennywise and swore that if the
00:04thing came back, they would unite again to defeat it. 27 years later, most of those teenagers are
00:10no longer living in the city of Derry, as they have scattered to different corners of the country.
00:15It's party season in the city and lots of young people gather at the amusement park.
00:19During a water gun competition, Adrian manages to fill the balloon the fastest and wins the prize.
00:25However, after picking up the teddy bear, the boy sees that Vicky is sad about losing
00:29and decides to give her his prize. He then goes to meet his boyfriend and they both walk out of the
00:34park, but are followed by a gang who attack them. Adrian gets angry and fights back, but ends up
00:39being hit and falls to the ground. Desperate, Don tries to defend him, but the men hold him back
00:44so that John can finish the job. After hitting Adrian repeatedly, the criminal enlists the help
00:49of his cronies to throw him into the river. The criminals then flee and Don goes down to the bank
00:54to look for Adrian. Just as he is about to drown, Adrian spots a clown standing on the river
00:59bank and is saved by him. But when Don appears, the thing devours the boy's heart and then disappears
01:04amid hundreds of red balloons. That night, Mike hears a call on the radio from the police,
01:09who have found a body outside the amusement park. Immediately, Mike goes there to investigate and
01:14finds a red balloon along with a message written on the bridge in blood. The next day, Mike calls Bill,
01:20who is now a writer, to break the news about the incident that happened the night before and tells
01:24him that Pennywise is back. He then gets in touch with Eddie and, while talking to his friend,
01:29the driver ends up having an accident. Richie doesn't take the news very well either and
01:33ends up putting it all out there. After receiving the call, Richie goes on stage to do his stand-up
01:38show, but he can't concentrate and ends up forgetting the jokes. At the end of the afternoon,
01:44Ben is in a meeting with his co-workers when he receives a call from Mike and immediately pauses
01:48to answer it. Of all the members of the group, Stanley suffered the most when he received the news.
01:53He is shocked to learn that he will have to return to Derry and, when he gets into the bath,
01:57he remembers the promise he made 27 years ago. So instead of breaking it, Stanley prefers to end
02:03his life rather than face this nightmare. While she sleeps, Beverly receives a phone call from Mike
02:08and, in the middle of the night, starts packing to return to her hometown. However, her husband wakes
02:13up and, realizing that Beverly is going to meet a childhood friend, Tom has a fit of jealousy and
02:19tries to stop her from leaving. As she is being attacked, Beverly reacts. Then her husband takes a
02:24belt to hit her and cowardly attacks her once again. However, during the attack, Beverly musters
02:29the strength to fight back and smashes a painting over the man's head. She then grabs her backpack and
02:34runs out of the house into the storm, leaving her wedding ring behind. On the night the clown was
02:39defeated, a huge amount of water poured out of the sewer tunnels, carrying several bodies of
02:44missing young people into the lake. Among them was Henry Bowers, the only survivor. Frightened,
02:49the boy walked back home and was picked up by the police because he was suspected of eliminating
02:54his own father. The truth is that Henry returned with the intention of destroying Mike and his
02:58friends, but was arrested before he could accomplish his goal. Almost three decades later, Henry is stuck
03:05in a sanatorium and, when he sees a red balloon floating in front of the window, he realizes that
03:10the thing is back. When he realizes that the patient is agitated, one of the doctors takes him back to his
03:15room and, on entering the dormitory, the man finds a balloon under the bed. After bursting it,
03:20Henry comes across Patrick's body and tries to escape, but soon realizes that the creature is
03:25not there to hurt him but to help him escape from his prison. In the evening, Bill arrives in town
03:30and meets Mike in a Chinese restaurant. Soon afterwards, the other members of the group show
03:35up and they all have a good time catching up with each other on what's happened in all the years
03:38they've been apart. However, a few hours later, the group realizes that Stanley's chair is still
03:44empty and begins to wonder if he will show up, since he was known for his cowardice when he was
03:48young. Over the course of the conversations, Mike realizes that his friends have lost most of their
03:53memories of what happened during their childhood, but they all report that they felt very scared when
03:58they learned that they would have to return to Derry. According to Mike, when the residents leave town,
04:03their memories are distorted so that they can't tell anyone about what happened. However, since he never
04:08moved, Mike remembers everything perfectly and helps his friends remember the evil clown.
04:12At the end of dinner, each member of the team opens their fortune cookie and finds a word.
04:17Together, these words form a sentence that makes everyone start to suspect that something may have
04:22happened to Stanley. Just then, the other fortune cookies on the plate start to shake and disturbing
04:27creatures emerge from them, causing the team to panic. When they look into the aquarium, they see
04:32floating skulls instead of fish and try to convince themselves that these things aren't real while they
04:36destroy them. When she hears the noise, the waitress comes over to check that her customers are
04:41alright and sees Mike destroying the table. Suddenly, all the hallucinations are interrupted,
04:46so Richie tries to disguise his outburst and asks for the bill. After leaving the restaurant,
04:51Beverly calls Stanley's wife to find out if he's alright, only to discover that her friend ended
04:56his life the night before. At that moment, his friends are overcome with fear and decide to leave
05:01so that they don't become the clown's next victims. However, Mike manages to convince Bill to accompany
05:06him to the town library, as he says he has something important to show him. That night, during a baseball
05:12game, Vicky gets bored and ends up getting distracted by a firefly, so she decides to follow
05:17it down to the stands. While trying to catch the insect, she comes across Pennywise and decides to run
05:22away, because she's scared of the thing. At this point, the clown starts crying, saying that people
05:27always make fun of his looks, so Vicky takes pity and decides to approach him. But when she does,
05:32the girl is devoured. Meanwhile, at the psychiatric hospital, the night guard discovers that Henry has
05:38attacked a doctor and managed to escape from his cell. After eliminating the guard, the man ran into
05:43the garden and got into the car where Patrick was already waiting for him. When they arrive at the
05:48hotel where they are staying, Richie and Eddie go up to the room to collect their things while
05:52Beverly has a drink to try and calm down. When asked why she was acting this way, the woman reveals
05:58that she had a vision of how each of her friends would lose their lives. She says that every night
06:03since she left Derry, she has nightmares about people suffering and, in one of these dreams,
06:08Beverly saw every member of the club being eliminated, including herself. When he arrives
06:13at the library where Mike works, Bill discovers that his friend has managed to find the origin of
06:17Pennywise. According to Mike, Shokopiwa is an artifact from the early 18th century and,
06:23by touching it, Bill has a vision of an experience his friend had during an expedition to a Native
06:28American settlement. During this experience, the Indians showed Mike how that thing came to be and
06:33eliminated several of his ancestors. Finally, Bill sees the only way to stop Pennywise, which is
06:38through a ritual to trap the clown inside that artifact. After this vision, Bill decides to go after
06:43his friends to try to convince them to join him on a mission to eliminate the thing. In the past,
06:49Beverly was hypnotized by the deadlights and this explains her ability to predict when
06:53someone will be eliminated. This means that if the clown isn't stopped, Beverly's visions will come
06:57true. So the team decides to band together to defeat him. In an attempt to recover their lost
07:02memories, the six friends go to the forest where they used to meet as children and find the old
07:07clubhouse, which was built by Ben. When they get there, Mike says that for the ritual to work,
07:12each member of the team needs to split up to find an artifact that represented their childhood.
07:17Beverly's first stop is her father's house, the man she hasn't seen since she left Derry.
07:21However, when she visits the apartment, the woman discovers that Alvin Marsh perished a few years
07:26ago, so the new resident invites her in. While the former resident looks around the house,
07:32Mrs. Kirsch heats water to make tea and Beverly opens the hiding place where she kept her
07:36treasures when she was young. After collecting all the items that were hidden inside, the woman
07:41goes into the living room to have tea with Mrs. Kirsch and the old woman starts acting very
07:45suspiciously. Just then, Beverly gets up to look at some pictures hanging on the wall and discovers
07:50that Kirsch is the daughter of Pennywise, the dancing clown. Terrified, the woman looks back
07:55and sees a wrinkled creature running towards her. Immediately, Beverly runs and tries to open the
08:00door, but soon realizes that she is locked in. Suddenly, Pennywise appears in his human form and
08:06says that Beverly won't be able to change the fate of her friends. When she finally manages to get out
08:11of the apartment, the woman looks at the building and realizes that it is nothing more than an
08:15abandoned building. Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Richie pays a visit to the arcade he always
08:20used to visit with his friends, where he finds a gambling chip and remembers the day he was
08:25threatened by Henry for no reason. Terrified, the boy runs to a park and, while trying to calm down,
08:31he is attacked by a giant statue, which seems to be possessed. The creature begins to chase him
08:36across the lawn and attacks him with its pike. When he realizes he won't be able to escape,
08:40Richie throws himself on the ground and closes his eyes while trying to convince his mind that
08:45what he's seeing isn't real. When he opens his eyes, the boy realizes that the creature has
08:50disappeared and is relieved. While walking through the same park where he experienced this horror
08:54story, the comedian is approached by a boy who is handing out flyers and comes across the
08:59announcement of his own funeral. When he looks at the statue standing in the middle of the park,
09:04Richie spots the clown and realizes that he is being stared at by him. With the help of the balloons,
09:09Pennywise flies towards his target and claims to know his secret. At this point, Richie closes
09:14his eyes to try and return to reality, but the clown continues to pursue him, so he decides to run
09:20away. That afternoon, Bill walks into a second-hand store and finds his old bicycle for sale.
09:26After buying it back, the writer pedals through the streets of the city as he did when he was a
09:30child and passes by his old house, where he lived when his younger brother was eliminated by
09:34Pennywise. As he approaches the manhole into which Georgie has been dragged, Bill hears the boy's voice
09:40and approaches to try to save his brother, but ends up being caught by the monster and feels the hands
09:45of several children trying to drag him down. Luckily, Bill manages to free himself and rolls away from
09:50the manhole, but manages to grab the paper boat that belonged to Georgie. Just then, the writer comes
09:56across a skateboarder boy and orders him to stay away from that manhole. During the conversation,
10:00the boy reveals that he hears children's voices coming out of the bathtub drain, so Bill advises
10:06him to make up a lie to convince his parents to take him away from that town. Frightened, the young
10:10man says he has to leave because he's late for the town festival, and walks away. When he was younger,
10:16Ben was bullied by the other boys at his school. Because of this, he closed himself off in his own
10:21world and wore headphones all the time. The only person Ben allowed him access to was Beverly,
10:26because he was in love with her. Knowing his weakness, the thing took the opportunity
10:30to trick him and disguised himself to chase the newcomer. During the escape, Ben ran for the
10:35exit, but soon realized that the door was locked, so he decided to hide inside the closet. However,
10:41his strategy didn't work as expected, as the clown managed to find him and tried to devour him.
10:46That day, Ben was saved by his teacher and, by accessing this memory, he decides to leave.
10:51When he returns to the hotel, the man finds Beverly and discovers that she remembers the note he wrote
10:56for her. However, as her memories are still confused, the woman begins to think that it
11:01was Bill who delivered that note. While walking through the center of Derry, Eddie decides to stop
11:06by a pharmacy to buy his medication and is recognized by Mr. Keene. While waiting for the old man to pick
11:11up his order, Eddie accesses a memory from the past and hears his mother's voice coming from the
11:16basement of the pharmacy. When he gets there, the boy comes across countless bags of blood and opens
11:21the curtains to free his mother, who has been captured by Pennywise. While trying to save her,
11:26Eddie sees a monstrous zombie approaching and, when the creature is very close, he decides to run away,
11:32leaving his mother behind. Attracted by this memory, the man decides to pay a visit to the basement and
11:37finds the same curtain, but when he opens it, he finds nothing scary on the other side. Relieved,
11:43Eddie tries to calm down, but when he turns his back to leave, he is attacked by the same monster
11:48that devoured his mother in that vision. During the attack, Eddie musters up the courage to fight
11:53back and grabs the creature's neck, which ends up spraying a jet of goo right in his face.
11:59After wiping his face, the boy realizes that the monster has disappeared and runs out of the
12:03pharmacy. When Bill arrives at the hotel, Beverly runs to hug him because she's terrified. At that
12:09moment, the couple kiss and the woman realizes that something is wrong, because she didn't feel the
12:14butterflies in her stomach the day she was kissed by the boy who delivered that note.
12:17Just then, the pair see a bloody skateboard coming down the stairs and Bill realizes that the boy
12:22he met earlier is in danger. He immediately goes to the festival after the boy and, meanwhile,
12:28Richie sneaks out of the hotel and gets into his car to leave town. While he's in the bathroom trying
12:33to clean himself of the monster's goo, Eddie is attacked by Henry, who was hiding, waiting for an
12:38opportunity to strike him. Terrified, Eddie hides behind the curtains and uses his enemy's own knife to
12:43strike him. After hitting Henry in the chest, Eddie goes out to call for help, but when Ben goes into
12:49the bathroom, he discovers that the man has escaped through the window. Arriving at the amusement park,
12:54Bill sees the boy getting on a ride and goes after him. After passing through the clown pendulums,
12:59the man enters a labyrinth full of mirrors and tries to reach the boy, but is chased by the thing.
13:04When Bill finally manages to get close to the boy, he realizes that Pennywise is also about to catch
13:09him and tries to break the glass to save the boy. However, the clown is quicker and uses his
13:14gigantic forehead to destroy the wall. He then engulfs the young man and eliminates him with a
13:19single bite. At night, while alone in the library, Mike is attacked by Henry and the man tries to use
13:25his knife to hit him. However, just as Mike was about to be eliminated, Richie appears and axes the
13:30criminal in the head. After finishing him off, the comedian collapses and his friends arrive shortly
13:35afterwards. Just then, Mike calls Bill and discovers that yet another child has fallen
13:40victim to Pennywise that night. Furious, the writer says he will destroy the thing and decides to do it
13:46alone so as not to put his friends' lives at risk. However, Mike and the others know that the ritual
13:51will only work if everyone is together and they decide to go after Bill. When they arrive at the
13:56abandoned house, all the team members enter together, but end up separating. While Mike and Beverly try to
14:01help Ben, who is suffering from an abdomen wound, the other trio spot Stanley's body inside the fridge
14:07and see the young man's head rolling around on the floor. When she looks in the mirror and sees
14:11Pennywise's reflection attacking her friend, Beverly breaks the glass and manages to save him.
14:16Suddenly, three pairs of legs start coming out of Stanley's head and he turns into a zombie.
14:21Terrified, the three friends try to get away from the creature, then the monster hides in the
14:26ceiling and waits for an opportunity to attack. Looking up, Richie is surprised by the zombie,
14:31which jumps on his face and tries to devour him. However, Bill manages to hold the creature at bay
14:36while Ben strikes it repeatedly with a knife. As he was paralyzed with fear, Eddie was unable to act
14:42and Bill claims that it was his fault that his friend could have been eliminated. After pulling
14:46themselves together, the team members descend into the sewer tunnels and wade through the dirty water
14:51to reach the clown's hideout. Suddenly, Beverly hears someone calling her name and sees the same
14:56creature that attacked her in her old home emerging from the depths.
14:59After capturing the woman, the monster drags her underwater, so Ben and Bill immediately jump
15:05in after her. When she returns to the surface, Beverly reveals that she has seen countless bodies
15:10down there and the group continues to follow until they find a hatch. As he is the most determined to
15:15defeat the thing, Mike is the first to go down and is followed by his friends, who crawl over the
15:20rocks to get to Pennywise's hiding place. When he sees the spooky cave hidden beneath the city of
15:25Derry, Eddie is surprised and Mike tells him that the place was built millions of years ago.
15:30According to him, the thing can only be attacked in its original form and, to do so, it will be
15:35necessary to perform a ritual. After lighting a fire inside the Shokopiwa, Mike directs his friends
15:40to put their artifacts in the fire and they all pick up an object that harks back to when they first met.
15:46Since Stanley couldn't be there at the time, Eddie throws a shower cap that his friend once wore into
15:50the fire and then they hold hands to perform the last step of the ritual. Just then, the flame goes
15:55out and the ceiling opens to illuminate them with the deadlights. Immediately, the team closes their
16:00eyes and begins to recite the words described in the ritual. Apparently, the ritual works as expected
16:06and the three fireballs fly straight into the Shokopiwa. However, when Mike goes to close the artifact,
16:12a red bladder begins to inflate and prevents the lid from being sealed. The balloon quickly grows
16:17exponentially in size and the team must flee to avoid being hit by the explosion. While the six
16:22friends try to recover from the deafening noise, Pennywise appears and reveals why the ritual didn't
16:27work. What Mike didn't tell them was that the natives who tried to destroy the thing ended up
16:31being eliminated by it and, in his defense, the librarian claims that he believed his friends
16:36would be able to finish the job that began 27 years ago. At that moment, the deadlights reappear with
16:42their ravishing brilliance and Pennywise reveals that he has been waiting for this moment for almost
16:46three decades. Now that all his enemies have gathered once again, the clown has the chance to
16:51get his revenge. During the escape, the six friends end up getting separated and Bill is trapped in a
16:56lake, as the surface seems to be frozen. Luckily, he finds a hole through which he can escape, but he
17:02ends up in the basement of his old house and meets his teenage version along with his younger brother.
17:07At this point, Bill has to confront the remorse of not having gone to play with his brother that
17:11day and considers that Georgie lost his life because of him. Meanwhile, Richie and Eddie enter a crevice
17:16to try to escape the monster and come across three doors. When he opens the first door, Richie is
17:22confronted by a sinister body walking towards him and is terrified. On their second attempt, they find a
17:27tunnel, but to get through it they both have to pass an apparently cute dog. However, when the two
17:32friends get close, the dog turns into a terrifying monster and makes the two friends give up on going
17:37through one of the doors. While trying to find a way out, Beverly and Ben get stuck in an end and
17:42end up being sucked into different scenarios. While the woman is stuck in the school bathroom
17:47listening to the voices of all the people who frightened her, her friend is sent to a cave.
17:51Suddenly, Beverly is surprised by a torrent of blood invading her cabin and Ben tries to avoid being
17:57buried alive. Before the earth covers his entire body, Ben decides to declare himself to the girl he's
18:02been in love with all these years and recites the poem he wrote in the note he gave Beverly.
18:07At this point, the woman recovers her foggy memory and opens the bathroom door to rescue her friend.
18:13With her help, Ben manages to survive and they both return to the sewer.
18:17While facing his teenage self, Bill manages to get rid of the guilt he's been carrying around for all
18:22these years and swims to the shore, where he meets Mike. However, when he goes to help his friend,
18:27the librarian is attacked and is about to be devoured by the creature when Richie appears and manages to
18:32attract his attention. After attacking Pennywise, the comedian prepares to throw the second stone,
18:37but ends up being hypnotized by the deadlights. Seeing his friend being abducted by the thing,
18:42Eddie decides to take action and throws a metal object at Pennywise's throat.
18:47Immediately, the creature frees Richie and seriously injures himself by falling on the
18:51spikes formed by the rock. Just then, Eddie rushes over to help Richie up and celebrates his
18:56team's victory, as he believes the clown has been eliminated. However, when Eddie least expects it,
19:02the monster makes another attack and hits him with one of its claws. Pennywise then throws Eddie's
19:07body away and the other members of the team rush to his friend's aid. While Richie tries to stop the
19:12bleeding, Mike and the others think of a strategy to force the thing to shrink in size, so that it
19:17will be easier to defeat. The aim is to lure Pennywise to the bottom of the cave so that he has
19:21to shrink himself to get through the tunnel. But the clown blocks the passage and the team has to
19:26come up with a new plan. The only chance of defeating his enemy is if they manage to make him believe that
19:31he is small and weak, so the four friends begin to humiliate him and, as his self-confidence wanes,
19:36the clown transfigures into a little worm. When the monster is totally helpless, Mike removes its
19:42heart with his bare hands and his friends team up to destroy it. At that moment, the deadlights go out
19:47and Pennywise's body is turned to ashes. After getting rid of the monster, the team goes to check
19:52if Eddie is okay and discovers that his friend is gone. Suddenly, the cave begins to collapse and
19:57everyone has to flee, leaving the body of their friend behind. As soon as they leave the abandoned
20:02house, the structure is destroyed and Richie despairs when he realizes that he was unable to
20:07save Eddie. A few minutes later, when they return to Derry, the team realizes that the scar from the
20:12oath they took as children has disappeared and they all return to their homes relieved to know
