00:00Now, as Liverpool prepare for a new era under Arnish Slott,
00:07the Premier League title win goes well as they go into the summer transfer window.
00:13Liverpool's business will be measured and focused, aiming to strengthen key areas
00:17while preserving the core of a squad that have just lifted their 20th top flight English title.
00:24Midfield depth, defensive reinforcement and a reliable forward option could top the list.
00:29With a clear philosophy and a strong recruitment in place,
00:33Slott's Liverpool are expected to prioritise smart long-term signings over sweeping changes
00:38in their bid to defend the title.
00:41We spoke to Will Rooney of Liverpool World to get an insight into the Reds' likely strategy come the summer months.
00:52And we're looking ahead to the summer for Liverpool.
00:55Now, how much money do you think they'll sort of have to navigate the summer?
01:00Obviously, we've mentioned a few times it's Arnish Slott's sort of first real go in terms of the window
01:05and in terms of, you know, continuing this build of Liverpool 2.0.
01:09And there could be a few departures as well.
01:12There's a fair few, you know, in the squad with the future still uncertain.
01:16There's obviously some that have been tied down as well.
01:18But how do they navigate this summer?
01:21What sort of, you know, are the priorities?
01:23What do they need?
01:24And how much are they going to be able to go and spend?
01:28Well, you would think that there is going to be a decent war chest
01:31because for the last three windows, they've spent £10 million on Federico Chiesa,
01:38who's come in as a big part player, really.
01:43So, you would, look, they had a big summer in Klopp's last summer, didn't they,
01:48where they brought the former fields in, probably spent the best part of £150 million.
01:53If the ownership are ready to lay that out again,
01:57then you would think that Liverpool can get a striker in, maybe a left-back,
02:02talking £40 million for Kerkers and how much is a real elite striker going to cost Liverpool.
02:07So, the money would be there and they were willing to buy Martin Zubomendi last summer,
02:13which would have been around £50 million, I think.
02:17The summer before that, look at Moses Caicedo,
02:20the owners were prepared to spend in excess of £100 million for the midfielder.
02:27So, I think if it's the right player, then the owners are happy to write the cheques out.
02:34And there has to be money to spend, I think they'll be aware of it.
02:38As I say, they've got no issues because they haven't spent money.
02:43So, you're looking at a real elite striker and there aren't too many arounds out there.
02:48These days, it's difficult to get one in.
02:52And who's he going to get?
02:53Because it's going to come at a premium, as I say, a left-back.
02:55So, if you're talking to Milos Kerkers, then it might be £40 million.
03:00So, there's money there.
03:02And then you're probably looking at where else could they bolster.
03:05It might be dictated by any outgoings.
03:10And offsetting that, you know, you're looking through the squads.
03:14Maybe a Kovine Keller having coal.
03:16You probably think he might leave.
03:18Because let's not forget that Liverpool have got to also pay out for Georgie Marmotash-Billy,
03:22the goalkeeper, who's coming in as well.
03:23So, maybe Keller has sailed, offsets that.
03:27Does Joe Gomez look at his future and think, well, I need to be playing football now?
03:31So, there's money towards potentially a new centre-back.
03:37In midfield, what happens there?
03:40Do Liverpool try and get someone else in?
03:42I mean, did he look at selling a fringe player like an end-0?
03:47Or will Javier Elliott be happy with his situation?
03:50Will he want to go and play more minutes?
03:51And then, up front, Luis Diaz's future.
03:55He's always been linked with Barcelona.
03:58Maybe if a big came in, Liverpool look to cash in on that and get a versatile forward.
04:03You can play maybe in the number 10 and left wing as well.
04:07So, I think those are two positions of striking the left-back.
04:11And then, the business might be dictated by who goes.
04:17Of course, we haven't mentioned Chance Alexander-Arnold as well after his goal at Leicester.
04:21If he goes, do Liverpool go and get another out-and-out right-back?
04:26Or do they get a centre-back who can also play right-back as well?
04:29And give Conor Bradley the share.
04:31So, decisions for Arnasol to make.
04:35But, first of all, most importantly, if Liverpool are going to be attacking the market to strike it
04:39and then a left-back are definitely what being considered.
