A look at the names currently emerging at Everton.
Transcript
00:00Well, looking at Everton and in terms of their summer plans,
00:04I would mention it's also going to be a few big changes around the stadium move to be completed as well.
00:10David Moyes' first summer window back at the club.
00:13In terms of Liam De Lape, obviously he's going to be on a lot of Premier League clubs' radars.
00:18He's had a great season at a real struggling side this season.
00:21And that relegation release clause as well, which will come into place likely in terms of Ipswich.
00:28Do you feel Everton should go all out for the likes of Liam De Lape?
00:32How do you think they should navigate this summer transfer window?
00:36Because a striker who can score double-figure goals is so important.
00:41Obviously, that's lacked with Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the last couple of seasons.
00:47Yeah, well, Everton, as things standing, will need a striker.
00:50They're going to have, as things stand, two senior options out of contract,
00:54Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broder, who is probably going to go back to Chelsea.
01:00And Calvert-Lewin has had his ups and downs at Everton, has his injury issues now.
01:08And do Everton look and go in a different direction instead?
01:13And the thing with Liam De Lape is say, can Everton, if they do like him,
01:18can they persuade him that Everton are the club, does he want to fast-track his career
01:23and go to maybe a Chelsea or, you know, a Man Utters?
01:27But why do you want to go to Man Utters at the minute?
01:30And if you go to Everton, you know you're going to be playing a lot of football.
01:37Still only 22.
01:38Everton have got a history of developing strikers.
01:40They, you know, like to Romelu Lukaku, went and scored how many goals for Everton
01:45and got a big move to Man Utters on the back of that.
01:49And if David Moyes can convince him that he is going to be leading the line,
01:55he will improve.
01:57He won't stand in his way in a few years if a massive club comes.
02:01And Everton are a massive club himself.
02:02You don't know what Everton are going to do in the next couple of seasons
02:06if they, you know, take in an upward trajectory, start challenging for Europe.
02:10That's the aim of David Moyes.
02:12So, you know, the pulling power is there.
02:14He's only had one year in the Premier League, scored 12 goals for Ipswich.
02:19But he does look like a sort of centre-forward who David Moyes would like, you know.
02:24Someone who can bully defenders, someone who can give you the focal point,
02:28but someone who can score goals as well.
02:31He's shown that this season.
02:32ÂŁ30 million, the only issue for Everton is how much of the budget would that take up.
02:40Because, you know, Everton are going to be able to spend money this summer,
02:42but it's not like they've got, you know, a blank cheque book.
02:46They've still got to keep an eye on the PSR situation, et cetera.
02:52And we'll, if they want one instalment to ÂŁ30 million,
02:58then it might be difficult for Everton to pay it out of front.
03:00But can they pay it in instalments?
03:03I don't know.
03:04Well, if I was Liam Dillap and you were 22, you've got to make your next move.
03:12You've got to consider it.
03:13Do you want to go to Man Utd and get swallowed up potentially?
03:17Look at Rasmus got you installed there.
03:19Or do you want to go to a team that you know you'll be playing week in, week out
03:22with a manager who really admires you?
03:25Yeah, so if Everton like him, you could see the benefits of him moving.
03:30But it's just the fact that whether they spend a lot of that budget,
03:36because Everton, they need a striker, they'll need wingers,
03:40might need a centre-half, might need another left-back, midfield.
03:46So it's whether Everton go all out on one player,
03:49or they have to manage the budgets accordingly.
03:53Yeah, just scrolling on Everton news this morning,
03:57I saw echoes of Richarlison's return to Goodison.
04:01Now, obviously, it had to be an interesting situation.
04:05How do you think Everton fans would feel, whether it's real or not,
04:08whether it would happen or not?
04:10You know, Richarlison's a bit of an interesting one,
04:12the way he left the club, and every time he's played there for Spurs,
04:16he's had a bit of an ovation or a mixed reception from the fans.
04:20What do you think would, you know, whether that would come to fruition or not,
04:24and the situation that it would be regarding Richarlison?
04:29I think Everton fans are well-educated enough to think
04:34it might be a deal that wouldn't be worthwhile
04:38just for the fact that Richarlison had injury issues.
04:42Everton needs a striker who they're going to be able to rely on.
04:46You can play week in, week out.
04:47I mean, when he was at Everton, he was so robust.
04:50There's arguably a case that he put his body on the line for Everton
04:53to stay up in that 21-22 season he was playing with an injury.
04:58Maybe that hampered him going forward,
05:00because, you know, he was limping that to games,
05:03and he put himself on the line week in, week out during that battle.
05:08And that's why he is absolutely mined by supporters.
05:11That's why he gets the reception.
05:13He does.
05:15When he moved to Tottenham, Everton needed a sale,
05:18and there weren't too many begrudged him with that move,
05:21because I think he was playing Champions League football
05:24under Antonio Conte that season.
05:26But it just hasn't worked out for him at Tottenham.
05:29He's had injury issues persistently,
05:32and Everton don't need to be spending,
05:35I don't know how much Spare's going to want to be couponing.
05:37You would think if they paid $60 million for him,
05:43three years later they're going to be wanting, what,
05:45maybe half of that, maybe a little bit less.
05:49And I don't think Everton are in a position to gamble on sentiments.
05:54Now, if you could guarantee he'd be fit all the time,
05:57I think it would be an absolute no-brainer.
06:00But unfortunately, it's not worth the gamble,
06:05and David Moyes will know that.
06:07He'd give you versatility, he'd give you fight,
06:09but you can't be bringing in a player
06:15who's got injury issues when you've already had one of them
06:18in Dominic Caldwell,
06:19who's missed a large chunk of the season this season as well.
