00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met
00:04office. Today we saw the highest temperatures of the year so far across
00:08the bulk of the UK. We hang on to that hot and humid air across central and
00:13southern areas through Thursday, whereas further north you can see some blues
00:17migrating southwards. That's behind a cold front which will weaken all the
00:21while. At the same time some showers likely in the south. Now through Friday
00:25high pressure extends from the Atlantic so in a cooler air mass into the weekend
00:30the chance of some showers but also some brighter weather. Now through this evening
00:35it's very warm outside, a pleasant evening to come. Notice one or two mist and fog
00:40patches possible through the night as this band of cloud and also some
00:44showery rain makes inroads across Scotland as well as Northern Ireland. The air
00:48behind it is cooler. One or two showers lurking down towards the west country as
00:52well. But really it's the temperatures of note as we head through the early hours
00:56of the morning. It's going to be a muggy night across England and Wales as well as
01:01Northern Ireland. So uncomfortable for some as we enter the day on Thursday.
01:06Fresher though towards the northwest. So let's pick up on that cloud and also that
01:11showery rain first thing. One or two heavier pulses can't be ruled out. Fairly
01:15sporadic though as it pushes towards southern Scotland, reaches the southeast of
01:18Northern Ireland as the cloud breaks behind it. And then that front will weaken all the
01:23while. At the same time strong sunshine across England and Wales. High or very high levels
01:29of pollen as well. That's tree pollen. And through the afternoon once we hit those highest
01:34temperatures we can see those homegrown showers developing scattered across England
01:39and Wales but with the risk of thunder. Now here are your temperatures through the afternoon.
01:4429 Celsius across the southeast of England making it the hottest temperature recorded
01:49this year so far. And still very warm if not hot across the bulk of England and Wales.
01:54Mid Wales coming in at 28. Now for Northern Ireland temperatures falling away relative to
02:00today. That's Wednesday through Thursday probably 15 or 16. Hanging on to 18 for the central
02:05belt of Scotland but much fresher towards the northwest of Scotland with a keen breeze. Towards
02:10the west country then yes you'll see 24, 25 Celsius for southern parts of Wales. So still very warm if
02:17not hot as we start the evening time on Thursday as this very weak weather front tends to fade away
02:23across the North Sea. And then through Thursday into Friday yet again some higher temperatures across
02:29southern parts of England and Wales but fresher elsewhere. And certainly that really sets the scene
02:34for the weekend. Through Friday there'll be some fine weather about if not some sunshine. A few
02:39scattered showers towards the north with a keen breeze and notice a bit more cloud moving in
02:44across central and southern parts of England and Wales. But temperatures coming in around 25, 26 degrees
02:49Celsius here. Now on Saturday the chance of some showers in the south as well as in the north with a
02:55mix of clouds and sunshine. In between central zones seeing some fine weather as well as some fine
03:00conditions. So all in all the weekend doesn't look too bad at all. It does look fresher but for more
03:05details and the 10 day trend check out our YouTube channel this week it's with Alex Deacon. See you later.
