00:00Hello. Yes, it's turning colder for the bank holiday weekend, but it's still a decent weekend for most.
00:07Not much rain around and there will be some sunshine.
00:09Here's the reason why. Big chunky area of high pressure just gradually working its way up to the northwest.
00:15So it's been shifting its position, which changes the wind direction.
00:19And that is why it is turning quite a bit colder.
00:22If we rewind the clock and watch those winds switching around from a westerly across northern areas,
00:30and bringing down the winds from the north that will bring down that cooler air,
00:35particularly noticeable across eastern areas during Sunday and Monday.
00:39So, yes, it is going to turn colder, but high pressure generally will keep things pretty dry.
00:43We've seen one or two very isolated showers across the far south.
00:47Heavy downpours in places, but most places dry, and they're fizzling out through the evening time.
00:52One or two showers coming in across northern Scotland in a weak weather,
00:56from bringing some drizzly conditions to western Scotland.
00:58And through the early hours, the north of Northern Ireland.
01:01But for most, it'll be a pretty dry night.
01:03Some mist and low cloud lurking along the south coast of England.
01:06Might just drift in and around into parts of East Anglia through the night as well.
01:11But, as I say, for most, a dry night.
01:13Some lengthy clear spells.
01:15Still quite warm air across the south, so still temperatures holding up here in double figures.
01:19But it is turning colder elsewhere, and it's going to get colder still as we go through the weekend.
01:24And we'll start Saturday, then, with a lot of cloud over Northern Ireland, Southern Scotland.
01:28A bit of patchy rain here and there.
01:30That'll push away to the south.
01:32Coming up from the south, there is still the threat of some heavy showers, certainly over the Channel Isles.
01:37But we might just see some showers getting into southernmost counties of England.
01:41So just be aware of that.
01:43Maybe one to keep an eye on the radar through Saturday.
01:46I suspect most places will stay dry.
01:49A few showers coming in across northern Scotland, and that northerly breeze bringing the chill.
01:55Certainly a lot colder than it was earlier in the week across northern Britain.
01:59But still, you know, 15, 16 degrees, as it's likely to be in Glasgow.
02:04And southwest Scotland could get 17 Celsius.
02:06That's above average for the time of year.
02:08So with some shelter here, it shouldn't feel too bad at all.
02:11And temperature in the south, still 22, maybe 23 Celsius.
02:14That'll still feel quite warm.
02:16It'll be most noticeable in the east, I suspect, where parts of those north sea coasts will really struggle temperature-wise.
02:22And feeling colder when you add that wind on, which will continue to push away any showers from the far south as we go through Saturday afternoon into the evening time.
02:31Still feeling some showers in across the northern Isles and the northeast of the mainland of Scotland during the night.
02:37Just a whiff of a hint of frost there across parts of Scotland.
02:41Some sheltered glens could dip down to freezing.
02:44And it will be a fresher feel everywhere on Sunday.
02:47Still, as I said, a lot of dry, a lot of fine weather to be had.
02:50And if we'd had a really wet spell in the week building up to this weekend, you'd think it was a fine weekend.
02:55But because it has been so warm, you will notice that drop in temperatures.
02:59So despite these sunny spells in the west, temperatures will be quite a bit lower than they have been.
03:03But still in places around or even a touch above average.
03:06Again, it'll be these eastern coasts where we could stay in single figures all day where there'll be more cloud.
03:12One or two light showers drifting in.
03:14But many places will be dry.
03:15But that colder feel definitely in evidence.
03:19Monday's a similar day in that these eastern side of England likely to be cloudier with a few light showers.
03:25But again, most places dry.
03:27Probably a sunnier day for southeastern parts of Scotland.
03:30And with lighter winds here, again, feeling pretty pleasant really for Scotland with temperatures above average here.
03:36Elsewhere, we're closer to average, mid-teens at best.
03:41But with those light winds across Scotland, say 16, 17 degrees should feel pretty pleasant.
03:45But everywhere will be feeling quite a bit cooler than it was earlier in the week.
03:49Temperatures have been dipping away and will continue to do so.
03:52I'd just like to show you this at the end.
03:54These are the temperatures for Monday when you compare them to Friday's value.
03:58So a noticeable drop, particularly so across the southeast.
04:01It is turning colder this weekend, but there's still a lot of fine weather to be enjoyed.
04:05So make the most of it and keep up to date with the forecast as we head into next week.
