00:00Yeah, the squad is feeling very good. Obviously it's a long tournament, would have loved to have started stronger, but there's been good discussions going on the whole season and to turn around our form over the past four or five games and obviously win five games in a row is a great feeling.
00:17So we've got a great squad, we've got some great experience in the squad and it's nice to see things are clicking at the right time, but still a lot of hard work to be done. Obviously come up against a good side here tomorrow night and just looking forward to a good encounter.
00:32Hi Trent, Tarun from the Hindu. Rajasthan are coming off a great win and you must have seen the performance of Vaipav, who's just 14. So how wary are you of the top order of Rajasthan and how confident are your bowlers as well?
00:53Yeah, obviously I think the whole world saw that performance the other night. Quality from such a young kid. It's the beauty of this tournament, of all the players coming out and taking any opportunity with both hands and I thought he did that very nicely last night.
01:08Speaking in terms of the Royals, very, very good batsmen, high quality strikers of the ball and a squad that I know pretty well, a ground that I know pretty well, but yeah, different colours for me obviously.
01:20Looking forward to coming up against an old team and yeah, I felt like we've got a good squad in terms of bowlers that can cater for most conditions. So just really looking forward to that challenge.
01:30I've got a great relationship with Booms. He's a leader in the side, obviously a very experienced bowler and he's a huge part of the wheel for our squad and he's definitely lifted the group since his return back to the squad.
01:54Nice to see him amongst the wickets in the previous game, but yeah, moving forward, he's going to play a big role for us as well. So as I mentioned before, guys are starting to step up at the right times and yeah, hopefully a lot of hard work to be done, but some good performances still to come.
02:10Hi Trent, you'd spoken about just about things clicking at the right time for you all. What goes behind this when the momentum is not picked up early on and then for you all to sort of revive because a lot of other teams speak about form going down when you're not winning a lot of games.
02:27So could you just shed some light on what went behind sort of getting things back on track for MI, I mean this season? And secondly, just on a lighter note, what is it like for the likes of you and Boombra who have achieved so much in cricket to now be sitting and hatching plans to dismiss a 14 year old?
02:45Yeah, that's a very good question. Well firstly, probably a lot more discussions than I'm aware of amongst coaches, senior players. But yeah, you look at the squad, you look at the talent in the squad and the experience as well. No team looks to get off to a bad start, looks to lose matches in the first half of the tournament.
03:03I think T20 cricket is just that type of game. Came close in a couple of games, you're looking at a couple of boundaries here or there, saved or gained can be the difference in this format. So take the learnings, try to get that little bit better. A lot of teams speak about getting 1 or 2% better. There's probably a little bit more room for us there to get 5 or 10% better and just come back and keep going at it.
03:26And like I said, guys have stood up in different games. There's been different performances that have contributed throughout the whole season and that's what it's about. So if everyone wants that or has that desire to want to stand up and put a good performance in, it's generally a good recipe for succeeding in T20 cricket.
03:45So yeah, and then the second part of your question, about some brilliant batsmen around the world. You know, the Chris Gales, the AB de Villiers, all the quality that comes in these tournaments.
03:57And I think I'll be careful not to say I'm worried about a 14-year-old, but it's going to be an exciting challenge to come up against a guy who's obviously fearless and running in hot form at the moment.
04:06So that's what it's about.
04:09Just, I'm to cut for an injury. Just two days back, this wicket here saw 400 runs being scored on this. And it's full of runs. Do you hope to have a high-scoring match next?
04:22No, I don't as a bowler. But yeah, it's a good ground. I think it's a high-scoring ground. History says that. It's a solid wicket match by a very, very quick outfield.
04:32So I've been lucky enough to experience the ground over the last three seasons. So hopefully I can put that experience into good stead over the next, well, the next game.
04:42But the bowlers couldn't do much in the previous match here. So is that a good bowlers' wicket or going to be a batsman's wicket?
04:50Well, it suggests it's probably more of a batsman's wicket. But yeah, it doesn't really swing too much, doesn't spin and doesn't really bounce. So yeah, we've got to be on our game.
04:59But we're definitely looking forward to the challenge. It's a big game for us.
05:03Trent, till last year you played for Rajasthan Royals and you have a very good relation with all the players. But since you left the team, the pace-balling attack of Rajasthan Royals is not that much stronger this year.
05:16All the players, including Sandeep Sharma, Tushar Deshpande, even Jopra Archer to some extent, they all struggled in the first ten matches.
05:26So your thoughts on Rajasthan Royals' bowling attack?
05:29It's not my department, obviously. I'm here as a Mumbai Indians player, part of a group that we're only worried about what we're doing.
05:38So it's a tough question for me to comment on anyone else's form or where they're going.
05:42But yeah, they're a dangerous side. It's a big game for us, a must-win game for us. And we're looking forward to that.
05:48Last question.
05:50How impressed are you with Ashwini Kumar as well? Just a word on him.
05:55Yeah, great young kid. Got some amazing skills. Obviously, I only just met him this season.
06:01But we've had some good discussions. Yeah, swings the new ball very nicely as well.
06:06And obviously got skills with picking up wickets with the old ball as well.
06:09So I'm sure he's only going to be richer for the experience of being in such an inexperienced side.
06:14But yeah, I'm hoping he has a huge future ahead of himself. He's a quality bowler.
