05:25Let's get you more breaking news that's coming in. The U.S. Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, has spoken to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and now details trickling in of the conversation between the two world leaders.
05:44We understand that the U.S. Secretary of Defense has expressed his condolences for the loss of lives in the Pahalgam terror attack and importantly also expressed solidarity with India.
05:53Pete Hegseth had a conversation with Rajnath Singh, the Defense Minister and also we understand that there was a very clear message that was sent across of solidarity.
06:04The Defense Minister, Rajnath Singh, told his U.S. counterpart about Pakistan's history of supporting, funding, training terrorist organizations and so clearly Pakistan being exposed to a global platform as a rogue state.
06:18Now the Defense Minister also said it's important for the world to come together, for the global community to explicitly and unequivocally condemn and call out such heinous acts of terror.
06:30To which you had the U.S. Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, reiterating full support of the U.S. government in India's fight against terrorism.
06:38He said it very clearly, with mincing no words, he said U.S. stands in solidarity with India and supports India's right to defend itself.
06:48Very important, that statement because that means that America is putting its weight behind India, making it very clear who it really stands with in this fight against terror.
06:58World leaders, one after another, have been speaking out, expressing their solidarity with India and we've seen multiple conversations with America.
07:06The Defense Minister's spoken, External Affairs Minister has spoken too.
07:09Shivani Sharma is joining us with more details on this.
07:12Shivani, clear 100% backing from America for India in the fight against terror.
07:20Akshita, this is a big diplomatic win of India and especially in India's fight against terror.
07:26When United States is rendering full support to India, it says that it not only stands in solidarity with India,
07:32but it also supports India's power and India's right to defend itself.
07:37That means whatever India decides to counter terror state, Pakistan, United States is with India, it's supporting India.
07:45And Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had this conversation with the U.S. Secretary of Defense
07:50and both of them had a long conversation in which not only the U.S. Secretary of Defense condemned this attack,
07:59he also conveyed his sympathies for the families who've lost their people in this particular attack.
08:04He called this attack a very cowardly, a dastardly attack.
08:08He condemned this attack and Rajnath Singh in this conversation, particularly Akshita,
08:14pointed out how Pakistan has been harboring terrorism.
08:18They've been training terrorists on their soil.
08:20They've been pushing terrorists in Indian boundaries.
08:23So this is a big diplomatic win when United States and all the leaders of the United States, Akshita,
08:29they are absolutely with India in this fight against terror.
08:34And they are not only with India, but they are sending out a very strong message to Pakistan
08:39and to the global community that India has its right to defend itself.
08:43And whatever India does, India will be supported by United States.
08:47So this is a big statement that has come in after this conversation that was a very important and a crucial one.
08:53Akshita.
08:53Okay, big, big development this and more support really for India from the global community.
08:58And the defence minister also in that conversation with Pete Hexat,
09:02making it very clear that you cannot mince words.
09:04You must call out Pakistan for shielding and harboring terrorists.
09:08And it looks like US also has agreed, saying India has every right to defend itself.
09:12Thanks very much, Shivani, for joining us with those details.
09:20But let's talk about the big decision taken by India late last night of closing off its airspace for Pakistan.
09:28The latest move against Pakistan by India is closing off our airspace.
09:32So let me begin by showing you how this affects Pakistan.
09:35The path they took earlier versus now.
09:37Flights would fly right through India, particularly if you were to look at flights to Kuala Lumpur.
09:43So now Pakistan flights, which are travelling, let's say, to Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia from Lahore,
09:47will now be forced to take longer detours to reach destinations across India.
09:52Obviously, that raises operational costs.
09:54It increases travel time as well.
09:56So instead of cutting straight down, they now have to go all the way around,
10:00through China, through Vietnam, and then touch down in Kuala Lumpur.
10:04An addition of two hours to an otherwise six-hour journey becomes eight hours.
10:08India has closed off its airspace right up till May 24th, so about a month.
10:13Before I break down the ramifications of this move,
10:16here's the report first on why India took this step.
10:19After Pakistan shut its airspace to Indian airlines, it is getting a taste of its own medicine.
10:29India has retaliated by shutting down its airspace to Pakistani airlines till May 24th.
10:36Now flights to the east from Pakistan will be forced to take a long detours to reach destinations,
10:42raising operational costs and increasing travel time.
10:45The flights originating from Islamabad to Kuala Lumpur of Pakistan International Airlines,
10:54which generally takes about five hours, 30 minutes, will now take eight hours, 30 minutes.
10:59In simple language, this is the implication.
11:02Any aircraft originating from Pakistan, which has gone to, say, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka,
11:07will have to take a longer route over the sea.
11:10The shutting of Indian airspace comes amid escalating tensions between the two countries
11:16in the wake of the horrific Pahlgaam attack.
11:19According to sources, India has deployed jamming systems
11:22to disrupt global navigation satellite system signals of Pakistani military aircraft.
11:28Panic-struck Pakistan has once again claimed
11:31the chances of conflict between the two nations are increasing.
11:34India has adopted a multi-pronged approach to avenge the Pahlgaam terror attack.
12:03The closure of airspace is the latest in a series of retaliatory measures taken by India.
12:10Bureau Report, India Today.
12:11Okay, let's talk about how this impacts Pakistan.
12:19Six weekly flights of Pakistan Airlines will be impacted
12:22because of India shutting its airspace for Pakistani flights.
12:25So, let's talk about PIA.
12:27That's the Pakistan International Airlines.
12:29It usually has six weekly flights,
12:31which is from Islamabad to Kuala Lumpur
12:33and from Lahore to Kuala Lumpur.
12:35Services along this route will be affected due to the Indian airspace ban.
12:39Now, what it will lead to is a two-hour delay for flights.
12:43These flights usually last about six hours.
12:45It will now become eight hours,
12:46which is a huge, huge added waste essentially for Pakistan.
12:51How much money are we talking about here?
12:52What kind of losses will Pakistani airlines suffer?
12:56We broke it down for you.
12:57So, previously, a six-hour journey.
12:59I'm talking about Lahore to Kuala Lumpur.
13:01It would cost somewhere between 12.3 million to 20.2 million Pakistani rupees.
13:07I'm talking about wide-body aircrafts.
13:10Now, after that duration increases from six hours to eight hours
13:14because two hours have been added,
13:16the flight can't go like this.
13:17It goes all the way around.
13:18The charge that you're seeing increasing
13:20becomes 16.8 million to 26.9 million Pakistani rupees.
13:25Mind you, this is per flight.
13:26The additional cost essentially, if we break that down,
13:30is about 4.5 million to 6.7 million Pakistani rupees.
13:34We break that down further.
13:35Like I told you earlier,
13:37six flights per week from Lahore, Islamabad to Kuala Lumpur.
13:41So, you calculate that and look at how much losses
13:44they're going to report per week.
13:46It's a 27 million to 40.2 million loss every week.
13:51In all, considering that India's closed off its airspace
13:54right up to May 24th, that's four weeks,
13:57overall, Pakistan is staring at a loss of 108 million
14:02to 160.8 million.
14:05And this, imagine, is the loss that a country
14:07that's already struggling with an economic crisis
14:10is going to be facing its airlines.
14:12This is the Pakistan International Airlines flight
14:14that we're talking about, could now be suffering
14:17as a consequence of India shutting off its airspace.
14:20So, this is the kind of loss that they'll suffer.
14:22Somewhere between 108 million to 160.8 million
14:26till May 24th.
14:27So, no matter of four weeks.
14:29So, that's how Pakistan will be affected
14:31because of longer routes for Pakistan flights.
14:34Instead of going through India,
14:35they have to fly via China, via Sri Lanka
14:37and then reach their destination.
14:39So, it's increased by two hours, as I told you.
14:43And because of these longer routes,
14:45there could be flight delays as well.
14:46Pakistan, now all the airlines will be scrambling
14:49to kind of refix all of their schedules.
14:52We've already told you repeatedly
14:54about how also Pakistani airlines
14:56have a shortage of aircraft.
14:59So, now this will lead to delays
15:01because they can't really add more
15:02or throw in more in the system.
15:04There's also reduced frequency of Pakistani flights
15:07because of the added cost,
15:08in all likelihood, from six flights per week
15:11to Kuala Lumpur, for example.
15:13That number, in all likelihood, will come down.
15:15There's high operational costs,
15:17more fuel requirement,
15:18which is why those prices I showed you
15:20shoot right up.
15:21What does that also mean?
15:22For the average consumer in Pakistan,
15:25ticket prices obviously will go up.
15:27For airlines to be able to pay
15:28for the additional two hours
15:30for the additional costs there,
15:32they will ensure it goes right through
15:34to the consumer as well.
15:35And I'll bring in Shivani Sharma again
15:37on this for more details.
15:39Shivani, you know, we've seen already
15:41this kind of action being taken by Pakistan.
15:43I'll talk about how Pakistan is essentially
15:45shot itself in the foot by doing that.
15:47But for India to take this step is significant.
15:50Take us through the thinking of the administration,
15:53why they chose to actually close off their airspace.
15:55Now we understand that multiple steps
15:57have also been taken to ensure
15:58that any aircraft that's detected
16:00around Indian airspace is immediately blocked off.
16:05Akshita, see, the wars are not only fought
16:08on the war field.
16:09Sometimes the wars are fought
16:10on the diplomatic fields too.
16:12And that's what India has been doing.
16:14After the 22nd April attack of Behlgam,
16:16there have been multiple strikes on Pakistan
16:19that India has taken on,
16:20hitting hard on the economy,
16:22hitting hard on the visa cancellation,
16:24hitting hard by cancelling
16:26the Indus-Warder Treaty.
16:28And that's what we are seeing,
16:29a lot of panic in Pakistan.
16:31When we talk about the airspace banning,
16:33this is causing a direct hit
16:35on the aviation sector of Pakistan.
16:38Pakistan's economy has been in shambles.
16:40Everybody knows about it.
16:41It has been depending on other nations for funds.
16:44It has been asking for help.
16:46And now, when Indian government
16:49has taken these initial steps,
16:51it's all the more difficult
16:52for Pakistan to sustain itself.
16:54Because, you know,
16:55cancellation of visas
16:56has been causing a lot of discomfort to people.
16:58We've been playing those stories
17:00almost every day.
17:02Banning of YouTube channels
17:03of the celebrities of Pakistan
17:05who've gained popularity in India
17:06is another massive blow.
17:08Now, banning the airspace
17:11is one major hit
17:12that India has given out.
17:14And remember, Akshita,
17:15this is all happening
17:16on the diplomatic channels.
17:18India has not even initiated action militarily.
17:22And India has been authorized to do so.
17:24Not only the forces are ready for it,
17:27but now the global community
17:29is also standing by India.
17:30So, India has started
17:32with these initial steps.
17:33And this is hitting Pakistan hard
17:36in its spine
17:37and affecting its,
17:39impacting its economy.
17:41And that's why we are seeing
17:43these steps
17:43that have been quite impactful
17:45as we see these statements,
17:46reactions from Pakistan too.
17:48Yeah.
17:48All right, Shivani,
17:49just stay with me.
17:50I was referring earlier
17:52to how Pakistan
17:53took a similar step much earlier,
17:55where they closed off
17:56their airspace
17:57for India flights.
17:58But here's what's interesting.
17:59When Pakistan does it,
18:01they're actually suffering losses,
18:03incurring losses as a result.
18:05Yes, Indian airlines
18:06also are suffering losses.
18:07But here's how much
18:09Pakistan is losing and why.
18:12Airlines essentially,
18:13when they fly over
18:13a country's airspace,
18:15pay something called
18:16an overflight fee.
18:18Pakistan is losing
18:19overflight fees.
18:20What I'm referring to here
18:21is that when Indian airlines
18:22also fly over Pakistan,
18:23they pay a certain amount
18:24to Pakistan as overflight fees.
18:27And Pakistan is losing out
18:28on that amount
18:29from India.
18:30How much are we talking about?
18:32Pakistan is losing
18:33$232,000 daily
18:37due to overflight fee losses
18:40from India.
18:40Imagine that.
18:41That's a daily count
18:42that I'm giving you.
18:43Pakistan is estimated,
18:45therefore,
18:45to lose over $50 million.
18:47How do we come to that figure?
18:48You go back to 2019
18:49after the Pulwama attack,
18:51when again a similar step
18:52was taken.
18:52Pakistan actually lost
18:53over $50 million then.
18:55And that's why now too,
18:57it's estimated that their losses
18:58could be somewhere
18:58around this number
18:59or for that matter,
19:01even more.
19:02Let's cut across
19:02to breaking news coming in.
19:04There's major build-up
19:13along the border
19:15by the Pakistani military,
19:16which is completely
19:17in a panic,
19:19not sure what to expect
19:20from India,
19:21so it's possibly taking
19:22all necessary steps
19:23to build up
19:25along their borders.
19:27They're deploying air defense,
19:29artillery units
19:30to forward locations,
19:31radar systems,
19:32air defense weapon systems.
19:34All of that
19:34has been brought
19:36into the Longhiwala sector
19:37in Balmaira of Rajasthan.
19:39It's what sources
19:40have told us.
19:41The Pakistani military
19:42also has deployed
19:43the airport security force
19:44for protection
19:45of ground assets
19:46for all security
19:48of air bases.
19:49Let me bring in
19:50Shivani for more details
19:51on that.
19:52Shivani,
19:52we've been reporting
19:53repeatedly
19:53of how exactly
19:55Pakistan is in
19:56absolute panic.
19:57They're rattled,
19:57they're scared
19:58of what's coming their way.
19:59They've been predicting
20:00that in 24 hours,
20:0136 hours,
20:02there's going to be
20:02a strike and whatnot.
20:04And we understand
20:05along the borders
20:05there's massive build-up
20:07by Pakistan.
20:10Akshita,
20:10you remember
20:11that press conference
20:11that was conducted
20:12midnight by the
20:14Information Minister
20:14of Pakistan
20:15where he said
20:16that they are expecting
20:17and they are anticipating
20:19an attack from India
20:20in 24 to 36 hours,
20:21but 24 and 36,
20:2336 hours have gone by.
20:24But the panic remains
20:25in Pakistan.
20:26We see the forces
20:27are being moved
20:28close to the border
20:29and that shows
20:30their discomfort
20:30and fear
20:31and they are expecting
20:32a hard-hitting attack
20:33from India.
20:34That's why we've been
20:35reporting through the sources
20:36that these assets
20:37of military in Pakistan
20:39have been moved
20:40quite closer
20:40to the LOC.
20:42Despite this,
20:42we also witnessed
20:43that since past
20:44seven days,
20:45Akshita,
20:45there have been
20:46unprovoked firing
20:47carried out by Pakistan.
20:49The small arm firing
20:49that has been carried out
20:50by Pakistan,
20:51it has been violating
20:52the ceasefire,
20:53it has been trying
20:53to provoke the issue.
20:55India has been responding
20:57befittingly,
20:57but India is still
20:58working in silence
20:59on how it will be
21:01carrying out
21:01its attack
21:03in the long term
21:04against Pakistan's
21:05terror state.
21:06So this is
21:07the movement
21:08of forces
21:10closer to
21:10the line of control
21:11in Pakistan.
21:13We've also seen
21:13some visuals,
21:15Akshita,
21:15of the RT guns
21:16of Pakistan
21:17moving towards
21:18the western border,
21:19in fact,
21:20closer to the LOC.
21:21So all this
21:22shows that Pakistan
21:23is immensely scared,
21:25it is immensely
21:26in panic,
21:27it is actually
21:28sensing some
21:30impending dangers,
21:32impending attack
21:33from India's side
21:34and that's why
21:35it is trying
21:36to prepare itself
21:37to save itself
21:38from this anger
21:39of India
21:40where India
21:40wants to avenge
21:41the deaths
21:41of 26 innocent
21:43people who
21:44were the tourists,
21:44who were killed
21:45by the terrorists,
21:46who were harbored
21:47and supported
21:48by Pakistan.
21:49Okay,
21:50thanks very much
21:50Shivani for joining
21:51us with those details.
21:52Pakistan has no idea
21:53what's coming.
21:54So they're predicting
21:55when there's going
21:56to be a strike,
21:57what nature of strike
21:58there will be
21:59and preparing
21:59for all possibilities.
22:02But clearly,
22:02the government
22:03is sending across
22:03one message
22:04that Pakistan
22:05will never know
22:06what's coming their way,
22:07that it's going to
22:08hit them completely
22:09out of the blue.
22:09We've been seeing
22:15a multi-pronged
22:16strike,
22:17if you will,
22:17against Pakistan.
22:19India's been cracking
22:19down also on
22:20Pakistani artists
22:21in the aftermath
22:22of the terror attack.
22:23India's blocked
22:24a slew of Pakistani
22:25films,
22:26its disabled
22:27Instagram handles
22:28of Pakistani singers,
22:29actors and musicians.
22:31The YouTube channel
22:32of the Pakistani
22:33army's media wing,
22:34ISPR,
22:35has also been shut off
22:36in India
22:36because the amount
22:37of propaganda
22:38they spew.
22:39But that's not all.
22:40Some of the most
22:40popular faces
22:41of the Pakistani
22:42film industry,
22:44Mahira Khan,
22:45Hania Amir,
22:46Ali Zafar,
22:46Sanam Saeed,
22:47Bilal Abbas,
22:48Ikra Aziz,
22:50Imran Abbas,
22:50Sajal Ali,
22:51the list goes on
22:52and on,
22:53but these are some
22:53of the most
22:54popular names.
22:55They've all been
22:55restricted in India.
22:56None of the
22:57Instagram accounts
22:57are accessible,
22:59none of the
22:59social media accounts
23:00are accessible.
23:01And remember
23:02that this comes
23:02days after
23:03Fawad Khan's
23:04upcoming film,
23:05Abir Gulal's release,
23:06was also banned
23:07in India.
23:08Previously,
23:09we've seen
23:09a similar kind
23:10of action
23:11and outrage too
23:13because remember
23:13after the 2016
23:14Uri attack,
23:16Karan Johar's
23:16Aydal-e-Mushkil
23:17featuring Fawad Khan
23:18again faced
23:19massive backlash
23:20and then Karan Johar
23:21very publicly
23:22promised not to
23:23work with
23:23Pakistani talent
23:24in the future.
23:25Mahira Khan
23:26is someone who
23:27was cast
23:27opposite Shahrukh Khan
23:28in Raees
23:29and was barred
23:30from promoting
23:31the film
23:31in India.
23:33Considering she's a
23:33Pakistani actor
23:34who was part of
23:35an Indian film.
23:36So the Indian
23:36Motion Picture
23:37Producers Association
23:39has passed a
23:39resolution
23:40prohibiting Pakistani
23:41artists from
23:42Indian films.
23:44After the 2019
23:44Pulwama attack,
23:45you also had
23:46music label T-series
23:48actually going ahead
23:48and cracking down
23:49on songs sung
23:50by Pakistani
23:51singers like
23:52Atif Aslam
23:52and Rahat Fateh
23:53Ali Khan
23:54from its platform.
23:55So it's not
23:55something new
23:56but now you look
23:56with the government
23:57actually stepping in
23:58and going ahead
23:59and blocking
23:59these accounts.
24:01Speaking of
24:03celebrities,
24:04remember the
24:04WAVE Summit
24:05which is taking
24:06place in Mumbai.
24:07You have the
24:07biggest celebrities
24:08coming together
24:09there.
24:09Superstar Rajnikanth
24:10was also there
24:11and in his first
24:12address really
24:14in that platform
24:15the first thing
24:16he spoke about
24:16was the
24:17Pehelgaam attack
24:18describing it
24:19as barbaric
24:19and merciless
24:20but what's gone
24:21viral also
24:21is Rajnikanth
24:23voicing his
24:23full confidence
24:24in Prime Minister
24:25Modi saying
24:26he has the ability
24:27to handle this
24:28crisis.
24:28Listen in
24:29to Rajnikanth.
24:31Many people
24:32told me
24:33the government
24:33definitely
24:34postponed
24:34this event
24:36because of
24:36unnecessarily
24:38criticism
24:38because this
24:40event is
24:41something is
24:43at a time
24:43event
24:44but I was
24:45confident
24:46this event
24:48definitely
24:49will happen
24:49because
24:50I'm confident
24:51on my
24:52president
24:52or my
24:53Prime Minister
24:54is a
24:57fighter
24:58he will

25:04they

25:06been
25:07seen
25:08from the last one decade
25:08even this situation
25:09also
25:09you will face it
25:10bravely
25:11gracefully
25:12and
25:15bring peace
25:16and glory
25:18to our country
25:18and let's
25:22get you

25:45I don't know.
26:15Right from the first moment, the summit is roaring with purpose.
26:26Big seed, our journey of Bharat is now started.
26:32Bharat has also offered many more than this.
26:38Bharat, with a billion-plus tourists, is also a country with a billion-plus tourists.
26:50Bharat's basket is very big, very small.
26:57It's going to take this basket to the world's wings.
27:02Let's get here some of the highlights from the
27:08WAVE Summit in Mumbai, where the biggest stars have come together for this conclave.
27:18Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan reflected on his cinematic journey at WAVE's 2025,
27:24urging everyone in the industry to be gentle.
27:26He also expressed gratitude for the love he's received, especially from Indian audiences.
27:38And listen in to what Karan Johar and Deepika Parakon had to say in one of those sessions at WAVE's.
27:54Do you remember what the beginning felt like when you started your journey?
28:02I mean, when you began your journey with Shah Rukh himself in Om Shanti Om,
28:06did you realize, did you feel, what was that feeling?
28:09What was that exact kind of emotion that, you know, went through you?
28:12You know, I have to agree with Shah Rukh that these are terms that we seem to be discussing now,
28:22insider, outsider.
28:23When I began, it was just a new world.
28:26I was a 16, 17-year-old girl who came from Bangalore,
28:30and Farah Khan showed interest in casting me in a movie.
28:34I was transitioning between Bangalore and Mumbai at the time,
28:39and, you know, she didn't even audition me.
28:44I remember her, I remember doing a meeting with her once,
28:47and she said, you know, I want you to meet Shah Rukh once,
28:51and he was shooting for Chak Deh in Australia at the time.
28:56And she said, once he's back, we'll do a meeting, and that was it.
29:00So, for me, it just happened, of course, I was a model before that,
29:04and they'd seen some of my work,
29:06but I never felt like I was an outsider trying to make my place in a new industry,
29:16or I had the dedication, I had the passion, I had the determination, the hard work.
29:26Those were the things in my control,
29:27and those were the things that I applied to what I was passionate about.
29:32But as a child, I felt like somewhere as a kid,
29:37I knew that whatever I do in my life,
29:40I will do it well, to the best of my ability.
29:45And, yeah, and then, you know, Om Shanti Om happened,
29:47and again, a place where I was just allowed to thrive, make mistakes.
29:53I never was made to feel like a newcomer or an outsider,
30:00and you've seen that so closely, Karan, in the way that I was presented.
30:05I can't think of the last time, you know, a newcomer was given a double role,
30:12such meaty, you know, such meaty roles and characters,
30:16and something that you could really sink your teeth into,
30:20and opposite the biggest superstar of our country.
30:23I mean, it's unheard of, right?
30:26Call it destiny, hard work, whatever.
30:28But I think the point being that it just felt, it felt like home.
30:35It felt comfortable.
30:36I could make mistakes.
30:37I could be vulnerable.
30:39And I think that's why I was able to thrive,
30:41and then the movie went on to do what it did,
30:43because it was just made with a lot of love.
30:48So you're witnessing some great conversations there at the Wave Summit.
30:52Well, let's get to your roundup of some of those highlights.
30:56So superstar Shah Rukh Khan was at Waves 2025,
31:00present in that summit with Deepika Padukone and Karan Johar,
31:04where he urged everyone in the industry to be gentle.
31:11Deepika Padukone, meanwhile, highlighted that Waves
31:13is a rare platform that brings together
31:15various creative industries under one roof.
31:17She also emphasized its significance
31:19as India is rising on the global stage.
31:24Akshay Kumar, interestingly, moderated a panel discussion
31:27featuring cinema legends Chiranjeevi Mohanlal and Hema Malni.
31:31The panel praised Prime Minister Modi's vision for Waves
31:33and discussed how Indian cinema is evolving.
31:35Mollywood legend Mohanlal at the event celebrated the unique identity of Malayalam cinema,
31:43calling it the intellectual soul of Indian cinema.
31:46He also lauded its ability to seamlessly blend art house depth and commercial appeal.
31:51It's been days since our viral interview of superstar Ajit,
31:59but one of the biggest talking points has been Ajit's message to his peer Vijay,
32:04who, of course, has taken the political plunge.
32:06So I asked him specifically about whether he thinks it's a good step to take
32:11for actors to step into politics and whether he himself would consider it.
32:15So here's an excerpt of that exclusive one-hour conversation that I had with Ajit.
32:22So you're into motorsport, actor, of course.
32:26There are a lot of peers in your industry who have also taken the other's jump,
32:30which is politics.
32:31What do you think of that?
32:32Is that something you would ever consider?
32:35No, personally, I'm not politically ambitious.
32:40And as far as my peers' interest in politics is concerned,
32:46it's, of course, their personal choice.
32:49I wish them well.
32:51And it's their belief.
32:55And the best thing about democracy is that, you know,
32:57people finally get to choose their leadership.
33:04And so I wish, I wish, I wish, not just my peers,
33:10anybody who wishes to get into politics,
33:16believing that they can make a change,
33:20I wish them well.
33:21I wish them well.
33:22It's their personal choice.
33:23Do you think it's a natural transition?
33:25It's a big responsibility, you know, being in politics,
33:28representing people.
33:30So you think it's a natural transition of sorts?
33:32You have this huge fan base,
33:33which then converts into political support.
33:37Okay, let me put it this way.
33:39You know, like, for example, people watching films,
33:42it's easy for them to be watching a film
33:45and then to judge and say,
33:47oh, this film, you know, you could have done this.
33:51The film could have been better.
33:52But being in the film industry,
33:55nobody wants to make a bad film.
33:56From the outside, it's easy for us to pass judgments
34:03or, you know, give suggestions as to how, you know,
34:11what kind of policies could be implemented
34:14or what's good for the country.
34:15But it's only if you are in the battlefield,
34:21you really know what the issues are,
34:25why is it difficult to,
34:28how easy or difficult it is to implement policies
34:33because, you know, we are a country of 1.4 billion people,
34:37different religions, castes, languages.
34:45So it's very difficult to please all the people all the time.
34:50Yeah.
34:51And believe me when I say this,
34:54when I was at the Rashtrapati Bhavan,
34:58you know, right from entering Rashtrapati Bhavan,
35:03following the protocol,
35:07going through the security,
35:09I could feel the weight of that responsibility
35:13that leaders have to experience
35:16every day in their life.
35:20And trust me, I don't envy them.
35:22I mean, it's a tough, it's a very tough job.
35:27It's a lesson learned.
35:30You know, I've always been apolitical.
35:33You know, I've tried to be.
35:35Consciously?
35:35Very consciously.
35:36And I think, you know,
35:38that's the way I would like to be,
35:40be it state politics or, you know,
35:44center of national politics.
35:48I'll definitely be very conscious
35:50in passing my judgments,
35:53even among my close circle, you know,
35:58because I could feel that at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
36:03I could really feel it.
36:04And you can catch that full interview
36:08with Ajit's 60-minute interview,
36:11which we've premiered on his birthday
36:12on India Today's YouTube channels.
36:15We'll be getting you all the latest reactions
36:17also to Ajit's wishes
36:18for superstar Vijay Tarneta, of course.
36:20But let's move on and get your details
36:22of the fallout of the announcement
36:24made by the Modi government
36:26on caste census.
36:28The center has announced yesterday
36:29that a caste census will be conducted
36:30alongside the upcoming national population census.
36:33And while making the announcement,
36:35the central government listed out
36:36what it called the Congress Party's hypocrisy
36:38on the issue,
36:39suggesting inconsistencies
36:41in the opposition's past stance
36:43on caste-based enumeration.
36:45So now you're seeing a credit war,
36:47essentially, that's broken out.
36:49But let me also get you details right now
36:51of exactly what this caste census actually means.
36:54It could lead to expansion
36:56of caste-based quotas and jobs and education
36:58that could benefit the backward class.
37:00But there's also a question mark
37:02about the 50% cap, the quota cap.
37:05This exercise is likely to also breach
37:07that 50% cap that was set up
37:09by the 1992 Indra Sauni judgment
37:12of the Supreme Court.
37:13Leader of opposition, Rahul Gandhi,
37:15has welcomed the center's decision,
37:16though he had said that, of course,
37:18it's been taken under pressure.
37:20Other opposition leaders also have welcomed it.
37:22There are lots of questions about the timing,
37:24with the opposition saying it's time
37:26to the Bihar elections.
37:27We're a few months away from the elections.
37:29But let's get you all of the reactions
37:30and how the government has reacted to the opposition.
37:33We're a few months away from the EU.
37:36ред
38:06the first family of the government was a system of their father's hands,
38:14the Prime Minister of the Prime Minister of the Prime Minister of the Prime Minister of the Prime Minister of the government.
38:18The caste census, we have been fighting now for some time.
38:23The government has opposed. For some reason, we don't understand what that reason is.
38:28They have suddenly decided to do it. We welcome that.
38:32We are happy that they have done the caste census.
38:37He was not born at that time. That's why he is telling like that.
38:42By birth, the RSS is against reservation.
38:47Whatever Congress says good thing, that also they oppose.
38:52And whenever they feel that people are going against them,
38:57Congress is agitating.
38:58Then they say that this is necessary.
39:00And when they feel that people are going against them,
39:04Congress is agitating.
39:06Then they say that this is necessary.

41:30to give social justice to every section of the society whoever may be whatever may whichever
41:35cast there may be their data should be available to the public and they also should be convinced
41:42their rights has to be established in a systematic way congress governments are committed to cooperate
41:54prime minister modi is all set to inaugurate and commission the viranjum seaport in kerala tomorrow
42:03and ahead of that a big political credit war that's broken out over the port remember kerala
42:09chief minister pinarai virgin will be there for the commissioning tomorrow and even as there have been
42:13questions of who is to be credited for the viranjum port pinarai virgin has maintained that the previous
42:19government did nothing but actually lay the foundation stone remember that the viranjum
42:24port is a very ambitious project built at the cost of over 8 000 crores uh it's been essentially in
42:30the works for the last many years and the kerala chief minister has maintained very very clearly
42:36that the only reason that we're actually seeing the viranjum port become a reality right now
42:41is because of his government's push for its development remember that the viranjum seaport
42:46is very close to tirananta puram in kerala but it's going to essentially put india on the global
42:51maritime map and that's why it's such a crucial development for the country for kerala too prime
42:59minister modi is going to be there tomorrow at 11 a.m for the commissioning of this seaport you will
43:04also see the kerala chief minister present there there's been a political war of words also over
43:09why the leader of opposition of kerala mr satishan hasn't been invited for this particular event
43:15but also as the politics speaks this particular project is a game changer for kerala which is why
43:21with elections scheduled to happen next year in the state there's a credit war that's broken out
43:27as well essentially pinera evidjan saying uh that it's not by pushing any ordinary boat into the waters
43:34that we're going to inaugurate this particular port suggesting that nothing was really done by the
43:39previous government except laying a foundation stone and that it is his government that's worked
43:44actively to ensure the development of this port it's been in the midst to offer political
43:49controversy previously too and that's largely because of uh the fight over adani's involvement
43:56in the development of the sport which is a public-private partnership
43:58so the prime minister will be commissioning that port at 11 a.m tomorrow we'll be getting you those
44:14live updates as well let's move on from the indian political league to the indian premier league as
44:19always we get to all of the action from the ipl and emis dhoni's exchange with danny morrison at the
44:25toss before the game against punjab kings has left his fans anxious dhoni's statement was enough to
44:30start speculation about his retirement chennai super kings is the first team unfortunately to get
44:36eliminated from the ipl it remains to be seen what the future holds for emis dhoni will he be back next
44:42year in the ipo thank you sir when ms dhoni walked out for toss he said something that has left csk fans
44:52anxious does that mean you're going to come back next year as well i don't know i'm coming for the
44:59next year that was all that was said and it was enough to spark speculation about his retirement
45:07within minutes social media was abuzz about the match against punjab kings being his last in ipl
45:17more fuel was added to the speculation as dhoni was seen having a long chat with franchise ceo kashi
45:24vishwanath dhoni's comments are a bit unusual as he has previously said that he'll take a call
45:32during the non-ipl months i'm still playing ipl and kept it very simple i take it one year at a
45:40time i'm 43 so by the time i finish this july i'll be 44 so i have then 10 months to decide if i want to
45:47play one more year or not and it's not me deciding you know it's the body that tells you whether you can
45:54the franchise has kept mom about dhoni's retirement leaving fans in the territory of uncertainty
46:00on another occasion in the past dhoni suggested that he'd like his last game to be at the chepok
46:08i've always planned my cricket you know my last game that i played was in ranchi the the odi version
46:16the last home game was at my hometown in ranchi so hopefully my last t20 you know it will be in chennai
46:24while csk play to away matches next dhoni's recent comments have added curiosity to their last home
46:33game which will be on may 12 against rajasthan sports bureau india today
