Tensions between India and Pakistan have significantly escalated following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which has been linked to Pakistan-based militants. In response, India has taken a firm stand, including reviewing the Indus Water Treaty and severing political ties. Although no military action was officially announced during the high-level CCS (Cabinet Committee on Security) meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistan remains on high alert. Fearing a possible retaliatory strike from India, Pakistan has begun missile drills in the Arabian Sea from April 24 to 25. A navigation warning was issued by the Pakistan Navy to the UK Maritime Trade Operations, advising all ships — including cargo and oil tankers — to avoid the region near Gwadar Port. This critical sea route connects Asia with the Gulf and East Asia, making the blockade a significant strategic move. Additionally, India has sealed the Attari-Wagah border, heightening Pakistan’s concerns about potential restrictions on sea-based supply routes. Amid the growing tension, Pakistani officials have issued nuclear threats — a recurring tactic seen during previous India-Pakistan standoffs like Balakot. However, India’s firm posture suggests a shift from defensive diplomacy to assertive strategic deterrence.
