00:00So here we are at a very sunny Whitley Park, the home of Newcastle United's media centre.
00:05I've just been speaking to Eddie Howe ahead of Sunday's long trip to Brighton and Hove Albion.
00:13An opportunity for Newcastle to really cement their position in the Champions League qualification places.
00:19Of course, a big boost last night after Nottingham Forest lost to Brentford at home.
00:24So a real chance for Newcastle United to solidify themselves in that top five.
00:28But they go to a ground where they don't tend to get results.
00:34Newcastle have only won one of their ten visits to the Amex.
00:39That's a good pass there.
00:41Newcastle have only won one of their last ten visits to the Amex.
00:44I'm one in the Premier League at the Amex Stadium.
00:48So ground up, they don't perform too well.
00:50But if they can't get a win down there, then they really do put themselves in a fantastic position ahead of the remaining three games.
00:57And probably you suspect if they go and beat Chelsea the week after, given how close Chelsea are on the table, there is maybe potential that Newcastle United may have Champions League qualification all but wrapped up.
01:09But getting out of ourselves there, back to the Brighton game and back to some injury news.
01:14Of course, Joe Linton missed the 3-0 win over Ipswich with a knee injury.
01:20It's an ongoing knee injury for Joe Linton.
01:23Picked up in February, missed the whole of February because of it, then returned and played 10 consecutive matches for Club and Country.
01:30He was obviously in those matches had his knee heavily strapped at times as well.
01:33So he's been playing through an injury, but ahead of the 24 hours before the Ipswich game, Joe Linton felt some pain in his knee.
01:40Obviously dropped out of the squad against Ipswich.
01:42He's been to see a specialist and the specialist has advised that Joe Linton essentially misses the rest of the season.
01:47But Eddie Howard admits that's a likelihood.
01:50He probably won't play again this season, but there is still a little bit of hope there.
01:54He might come back, given the type of character that Joe Linton is.
01:57He'll want to play his part in the remaining four games.
02:01But as I stand, there is a little bit of hope there, but it really sounds unlike that Joe Linton will play.
02:06And he can rest up and get fit again ahead of next season.
02:11He's currently in Brazil enjoying a rest there.
02:15So he definitely won't be involved this weekend and then we'll have to see after that.
02:20A few other bits of injury news to bring you.
02:22Sven Botman obviously made his comeback as a late substitute against Ipswich last week.
02:27He's trained again this week, got through training fine, got through the game fine and will be involved against Brighton.
02:33On Sunday, Matt Target, sounds like he will be missing for the rest of the season with a hamstring issue.
02:39Wasn't in the squad against Ipswich.
02:41And the final one, Jamal LaSalle, hasn't kicked the ball since March last year during an ACL injury.
02:47He's been back on the grass this week, but similar to Joe Linton.
02:50And they may wait until next season, until Jamal LaSalle is reintroduced into Newcastle United's squad.
02:57But Eddie Howe says there's certainly a possibility that he could be involved.
03:00They'll just have to play it by ear.
03:02Looking ahead to the summer then, the summer transfer window.
03:07Hopefully it'll be an exciting one for Newcastle United.
03:10We'll see some signings, at least having not seen any signings or any major signings for the last three transfer windows.
03:17So, Eddie Howe was asked about the transfer window in his press conference there.
03:21And, you know, there's not really an update, but work is ongoing behind the scenes.
03:26The PSR deadline is interesting because Newcastle, as we understand, are in a healthy financial position this time.
03:32So, they don't have to go and sell.
03:33But Alexia Kuba-Minta and Elliot Anderson, like they did on June 30th last year, a real late scramble, a major panic.
03:40Otherwise, they're going to breach PSR.
03:42They're not in that position this time round.
03:43But other Premier League rivals may be, and Newcastle may, put the shoe on the other foot
03:49and try and exploit other clubs' financial difficulties.
03:55There was a couple of clubs that somehow done with Newcastle saying, Nottingham Forest and Brighton there.
03:59Liverpool talks with Anthony Gordon, Chelsea, and quite a bit about Alexander Isaac.
04:03So, potentially, the scope for Newcastle United to do that to other clubs.
04:09But, yeah, in terms of transfer news, obviously, a lot of links doing the round at the moment.
04:15A lot of players linked.
04:16Brian Mbemo, of course, at Brentford.
04:19Dean Hoosen at Bournemouth.
04:20Mark Gee.
04:21There's lots of names, but nothing.
04:23In terms of an update, they give you nothing concrete yet.
04:26But, as I say, hopefully, there will be an exciting window at Newcastle United.
