00:00obviously with retirement of greg popovich you know as a coach is someone that's watched the
00:16nba for a long time it's it's something that you know it's an end of an error you know we've talked
00:23about in college with the nil but this has been completely different what pop has done just
00:28looking at his record obviously winning over 1400 games you know obviously the five nba championships
00:32everyone's going to look at and and the way he navigated uh his team uh from the very beginning
00:39in 99 when he won the first title against my knicks with the ending of the david robinson uh era
00:44bringing in obviously tim duncan and then obviously getting guys like ginobili getting guys like tony
00:51parker roll guy steve kerr robert hori so on and so forth getting a guy like kawaii uh
00:57it's really the totality of what this guy is top 15 greatest coaches of all time it's funny we were
01:03talking about this earlier and we were we kind of got into all right well let's let's take red
01:08owl back out of it when there were like you know eight teams in the nba where do we rank these coaches
01:15right obviously you look at phil jackson number of championship rings he has he probably is the number
01:20one after you look at red so then you get into like riley versus pop and you look at the fact that
01:29the lakers won all their chips in that in that window right uh in between uh when he won his first
01:35one in 82 and then obviously when they got knocked out uh you know and when they won their last one
01:41in 88 and then you get into his time with the next so on so forth and then the one ring he had with
01:48obviously dwayne wait what pop did in san antonio a small market team has to be considered of why
02:00as much as i love riley i have to take greg popovich over riles one franchise through different eras
02:10through different players and the way that they had 22 straight seasons of over 500 they were
02:17competitive every year and it's a shame that we lose someone like pop now because of the fact of
02:23well he just got wendy and i thought that and i think kevin would agree when we i know we had talked
02:29about it in the past is this guy was kind of on his way out and all of a sudden he got wendy and he
02:35looked you know re-energized but now where does san antonio go after losing uh greg popovich uh with
02:44you know his career they pivot okay and they go to his top assistant and they go uh to a guy that's
02:53been in the spurs program mitch johnson for the last uh decade he's been part of the franchise now to me
03:00i'm gonna as a coach this is where i'm like if becky hammond wasn't with the las vegas aces would
03:06this this have been becky hammond um would it's would this have been the spot but he did a pretty
03:12good job as the interim coach taking over from november 2nd and it sets up a pretty interesting
03:17part of what are we going to get out of san antonio you look at women yama thank goodness he's healthy
03:24blood clot should be an issue he should be back next year we look at stefan castle what he played
03:30for the love of god can we please not start chris paul all 82 games next year let's put stefan castle
03:36in the starting lineup and let the kid play 35 minutes a night right what do you get uh you know
03:42uh out of a cell what do you get out of kelvin johnson what do you get out of some of these other guys
03:46but is there a trade to be made are you looking at taking some of these guys and looking at i don't
03:55know yannis becomes available another superstar becomes available do you go and give mitch johnson
04:04a chance or do you stay with that spurs culture and what they've built it's been really interesting
04:10to watch what's going on in san antonio but it's also for me as a coach a thank you to pop a thank you
04:17to a coach that stood on what he believed in year in and year out never made changes never did anything
04:26differently than what he wanted to and i think that's the thing kevin that i look at as a coach is
04:31this is a guy that for 25 years was a model of consistency and excellence with san antonio spurs
04:38like you said
04:48oh
