00:00Opposition leader Hamza Zainuddin has called for Sarawak's oil and gas demands

00:06to be addressed in a spirit of unity and fairness.

00:10Petronas is meant for the country.

00:15Sarawak is also part of Malaysia.

00:17Petronas is not only meant for Sarawak, Petronas is meant for the whole country.

00:20Then everyone should get a deal.

00:22That's how a country should look into it.

00:25The Perikatan National Deputy Chairman highlighted Petronas' stature as the only Malaysian company

00:31on the prestigious Fortune Global 500 list, adding that as part of the federation, Sarawak

00:37also benefits from the dividends Petronas pays to the country.

00:41While Hamza said Sarawak's claim for a higher royalty payment could be discussed, he cautioned

00:46against giving in to excessive demands, saying it could undermine national unity.

00:51There is no other companies in the whole world will come and say, okay, I'll give you

00:56a royalty of 40% of whatever reservoir that you have.

01:00I mean, that's not fair for that company.

01:05On Sarawak's push to control the gas aggregator role, Hamza said the real question to be asked

01:10is whether it allows for a viable business model.

01:13They can't ask for it.

01:15But the most important thing is it's not about the policy.

01:18It's about the business model so that everyone can have a fair share of the cake.

01:24So look a fair deal between the state and the company.

01:30And then on top of that, that company, Petronas, should look into the benefit for the whole

01:35country, which Sarawak is part of the issue.

01:38Hamza also called for the issue to be depoliticised, saying federal and state leaders should avoid

01:43framing the issue as a battle between Pucerjaya and Sarawak.

01:47He said the state should enter direct negotiations with Petronas as the company is best placed

01:52to determine a fair royalties formula given its access to all the necessary data and analysis.
