The Israeli military said it carried out airstrikes against Yemen's Hodeidah Port on Monday (May 5), a day after the Iran-aligned Houthis fired a missile that struck near Israel's main airport.

00:00Israel struck Yemen on Monday in what the Houthis said was a joint raid with the United
00:08States, a day after the Iran-backed rebels claimed missile fire at Israel's main airport.
00:14The Houthi-run al-Masira television said six airstrikes hit the port of Hodeidah on Yemen's
00:19western coast and reported an attack on Bajil district in the same province, blaming U.S.-Israeli
00:26aggression for both. Israel confirmed it had carried out the strikes, while a U.S. official
00:31denied any part in the raid. More than ten strikes targeted Hodeidah port and the al-Salakana
00:37and al-Hawak neighborhoods in the city of Hodeidah. Four strikes also targeted the cement factory
00:43east of Hodeidah. The Yemeni Ministry of Health confirmed that 21 civilians were injured in
00:49the attacks. The Houthis, who control swathes of Yemen, including Sanaa, have launched missiles
00:55and drones targeting Israel and Red Sea shipping throughout the Gaza war that began in October
01:002023, saying they are acting in solidarity with Palestinians. U.S. strikes against the
01:08Houthis began under former U.S. President Joe Biden, but have intensified under his successor
01:13Donald Trump.
