The afternoon will feature sunny skies and light winds for the vast majority of the UK. However, the exception to this pattern is eastern England where some thick cloud creeps in which will bring the occasional short-lived isolated shower. - This is your Met Office UK weather forecast for 06/05/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Alex Burkill.

00:00High pressure is well and truly the theme of the weather through this week.
00:04It's going to stay fine and settled for most of us.
00:07Worth bringing in mind, though, away from the centre of the high towards the southeast through today,
00:11there is a bit of a breeze here and across parts of eastern England,
00:15some relatively thick cloud, a few showers possible,
00:19all that drifting a little bit further south and westwards through the afternoon,
00:22but that cloud will be breaking up, so a bit more sunshine breaking out here.
00:26Otherwise, across Orkney and Shetland, some thick cloud could lead to a few spots of rain,
00:31but elsewhere it's a dry story and there will be a decent amount of sunshine as well.
00:36In that sunshine, not feeling too bad at all, temperatures peaking in the mid to high teens Celsius.
00:41We may just about scrape to 18 or 19, but it is worth bearing in mind,
00:45particularly where we have that breeze towards the far southeast and where we have that thicker cloud,
00:49also some northy coastal parts, it is going to feel markedly fresher,
00:53closer to 9 or 10 Celsius for some here.
00:57Later on, as we go through the end of the day, like I said,
00:59we have that thicker cloud in eastern England pushing further south and westwards,
01:03so some grey skies through the evening across parts of central southern England for a time,
01:08but then overnight, well, there may be one or two showers,
01:11but generally it's looking dry, many of us will have some clear skies,
01:15and with mostly light winds, it does mean it's again going to turn quite chilly,
01:18perhaps not quite as cold as it was last night to get to minus 4.7 at Alt-Nahara,
01:24but nonetheless, away from the more built-up areas, I am expecting a touch of frost in some prone rural spots,
01:30so a bit of a fresh, chilly start for some of us tomorrow morning,
01:34not great news for any gardeners in those areas.
01:37As we go through tomorrow then, yes, a bit of a fresh start,
01:40but actually it's looking like another largely fine day.
01:43A few showers coming through, none of these looking particularly heavy,
01:47mainly towards parts of East Anglia and Kent,
01:50and a few perhaps pushing into parts of the Midlands.
01:53Otherwise, lots of dry weather on offer yet again, and a good deal of sunshine,
01:56and with that, temperatures likely to be a little bit higher than today for many places,
02:01could get to highs of around 20 or 21 Celsius.
02:05Do obviously take care if you're out in the fine sunny weather for prolonged periods,
02:09because UV levels could be pretty high.
02:11Through the rest of the week, and as I said, high pressure is going to continue to dominate,
02:15so it is going to stay largely dry, little rain around for most of us,
02:19just a few showers here and there, until we get to the weekend,
02:23and that's when there's the chance of a bit of rain perhaps pushing into the northwest,
02:26and by Sunday, you may see some heavy, perhaps even thundery showers in the southwest,
02:31but a fair bit of uncertainty about that at the moment.
02:34Otherwise, when it comes to our temperatures,
02:35we're going to stick with the relatively chilly nights,
02:38but feeling pretty warm by day.
02:40In fact, our temperatures by day are going to be creeping up as we go through this week.
02:44But if you need any more information about what we can expect through this week,
02:48then make sure you check out the Deep Dive with Honour,
02:50which will be available later on this afternoon.
02:52Bye-bye.
