00:00What did you think of the Knicks and Nuggets wins last night?
00:05Pretty epic.
00:06Normally the NBA playoffs are pretty anticlimactic,
00:08and there's only a couple of teams, or it's kind of a foregone conclusion.
00:12So it's nice to see that we actually have some series in play.
00:17Listen, you look at the New York Knicks,
00:18and you figure that they would match up with pretty much anybody, right?
00:23They do.
00:24They're not deep, but the players that they have are really good.
00:27But we talked about the success that the Celtics have had over them.
00:31So I think it's massive.
00:32I think the Leafs and the Knicks are in a very similar situation.
00:35A lot of it is psychological confidence,
00:38and now both teams have some confidence winning game one.
00:42The thing with Boston, though, is, Scott,
00:44we've seen this before with the Celtics pretty much in every series
00:48for the last couple of years.
00:49They always do this.
00:51They always play terrible in one game.
00:52They take a million three-point shots.
00:55And I like that people are, like, surprised.
00:57Like, did they never watch the Boston Celtics play before?
01:00Like, I saw, like, Twitter blowing up last night.
01:02Man, the Celtics shoot a lot of threes.
01:04Yeah, this is what they do.
01:06And they live with it.
01:07They die with it.
01:08More often than not, they live with it.
01:10Last night, it got a little excessive.
01:13I don't think they're as good, Scott, as they were last year.
01:15They don't have the same hunger.
01:17They're just not as intense of a basketball team.
01:20They think they can flick the switch.
01:22But we've got a series now.
01:24A lot, you know, fun stuff.
01:26And, dude, I took the Nuggets last night.
01:28I thought they could play with Oklahoma City.
01:31Oklahoma City, you have to prove it.
01:32You saw Holmgren under pressure, you know, free throws.
01:36You know, you can have the flash.
01:37You can have the bling and the sizzle and all that.
01:40But once you get into the playoffs, man, pressure matters.
01:42And experience matters.
01:44You look at a dude like Aaron Gordon making plays right now.
01:46Holmgren, Chad Holmgren misses the free throws.
01:50Jokic just calm, cool, and collected.
01:52They never panic, you know.
01:54And one thing I'll say, too, I don't know what the hell the Oklahoma City Thunder were doing fouling so much, bro.
02:02Like, I'm all for, okay, you want to foul on a three-point shot, you know, to avoid the three.
02:06But they were extending the game for the Denver Nuggets, Scott.
02:10It was bizarro world.
02:11And especially once, Jokic couldn't check in.
02:14So, think about that.
02:16Jokic couldn't check in.
02:18The Nuggets did not have a timeout left.
02:20They were going to have to play the game out, and Oklahoma City probably wins.
02:24Instead, Oklahoma City freaking fouls them.
02:27It allows them to hit the free throws and check Jokic back in with nine seconds, Scott.
02:32It was like basketball 101 on not how to close a game out.
02:36Yeah, there's no doubt about it.
02:38And, you know, that's a normal night for this guy, the 42-22.
02:42I'm not surprised he puts up those numbers.
02:45No one in the NBA can stop him.
02:51No, I think he's the best player in the league.
02:53He doesn't get credit for it.
02:55He's just so consistently steady, right?
02:59He just makes plays.
03:00People can talk about Luka.
03:01You can talk about Anthony Edwards.
03:03But to me, Jokic is the best player in the league.
03:06And it's about their role players.
03:08Number one, we talked about the Malone stuff.
03:10They wouldn't be doing this if Malone was the coach right now.
03:12They were imploding.
03:13They were fighting on the bench like they were imploding.
03:16So let's give credit to the Nuggets and everybody that called them out that night and that day.
03:20Oh, what the hell are they doing?
03:22Well, here they are right now.
03:23They knew what they were doing.
03:25And to me, it's Aaron Gordon, Russell Westbrook, Scott playing great basketball for them.
03:30You know, yeah, he'll miss shots, but he'll also run into the eighth row to get a ball for you.
03:34Right?
03:35Like the dude plays hard, hard.
03:37Gordon's in a zone right now.
03:39Murray's Murray.
03:40You know, Murray's sort of hit or miss a little bit.
03:42But Murray's a dude that's been in a million big games before.
03:46So he's very calm as well.
03:48They're a dangerous team.
03:48Brown gives them a lot.
03:49I think Brown gives them a lot, too.
03:52I'm a big fan of his.
03:53I like the McCanns, Scott.
03:54Big fan.
03:55And I like him now.
03:56He was a big part of their championship team last time, but he's even better now.
04:01What did you think Ann and Obie and Bridges and their defense?
04:06Love the steal late in the game.
04:08You know, it's crazy, isn't it?
04:10Think how many times at big basketball games we've seen teams unable to get a shot off at the final seconds.
04:16It's not just college.
04:17Remember, the Houston Cougars couldn't get a shot off.
04:20Boston Celtics can't get a shot off.
04:22You've seen, who was it earlier?
04:24You know, five-second violations.
04:25Teams can't get the ball inbounds.
04:27Right.
04:27In under-pressure situations, you can't take anything for granted.
04:31So, big-time play by Bridges late there.
04:33Love that.
04:34And OG Ananobi, I've always been a massive fan of his.
04:38OG wasn't like, he always felt disrespected with the Raptors in the sense that they always wanted to make him like the fourth option, Scott, on offense.
04:47And, you know, it was like, dude, this guy can score if you give him a chance.
04:50He can, you know.
04:51And the best thing about OG Ananobi, he's better in the playoffs.
04:56Like, he's better, like I'm telling you, he's better in big games.
05:00Right.
05:01If people have a good basketball memory, when he was on the Charter Raptors when they were in the bubble, he hit a three-point shot at the buzzer to send the series to seven against the Celtics.
05:10The Raptors, the year after the Raptors won the title without Kawhi, they played in the bubble, and it went seven.
05:17I know it's easy to forget.
05:18But OG Ananobi hit a three.
05:20OG's a big game player, man.
05:21He just is.
05:22He can do this again, Scott.
05:24Like, he shines when the brights are the brightest, OG Ananobi.
05:29So, super happy for him.
05:31Dude, if you look at all the former Raptors, look at Pascal Siakam.
05:34It's like, why do we get rid of all these players?
05:37It's like, Pascal Siakam's pretty good.
05:39OG Ananobi's pretty good, isn't he?
05:41OG Ananobi's pretty good.
