00:00Okay boys, have a call break, take one step back, Cedigo break, in Paso Atras, okay?
00:07Set yourselves at all times. Okay, touch close. Good luck, lads.
00:17Well, here we go. Welcome along. Welcome to the Co-op Live in Manchester on a historic night for
00:25Queensbury Promotions. Teaming up with DAZN and our first contest is Manchester's Alfie
00:31Middlemiss in the black and silver and he takes on Mexico's Alexander Morales. You're joined by
00:38myself, Darren Rees, Tiers O'Leary and Zach Miller. Good evening, gentlemen. Yeah, good evening,
00:43Darren. Glad to be back here commentating with you on the panel. Yeah, what a night of boxing
00:47we've got ahead of us. I'm looking forward to it, Darren. I'm looking forward to it.
00:51Always good to see you guys and Alfie Middlemiss, 2-0 at the moment. Young man, still got a long,
01:00long way to go in his professional career at this age. Just nice and relaxing there, trained
01:05by Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis and all those wonderful guys out of that gym. And just looks
01:11quite comfortable boxing in that orthodox stance. Just popping those shots out. Mexico's
01:17Morales is the man who's showing to be the aggressor in the opening moments of this round
01:23in terms of the motion he's moving and that is forward. And I guess Minimiss will need to
01:30just keep him at bay with that jab.
01:34Yeah, he's boxing nice and comfortable at the minute. I'm sure Jamie will have said go out
01:37and have a look. Get your jab going. Needs to just put this kid on his heels a little bit.
01:41Keep him off balance. Stop the momentum coming forward.
01:44Well, that was a strong left hook which caught the right glove of Middlemiss. Doesn't seem
01:53phased in the slightest. Just trying to gauge his distance. I'm sure there's a little bit
01:58of nerves there.
01:59He's warming up into it as you can see. I still think it's time. Yours is jab. Lovely
02:05one-two left over cut to the body.
02:08Yeah, it just needs to stay switched on with this kid. You know what them Mexicans are like
02:12on that front foot. They'll swing bombs from anywhere.
02:15He's very clever. Look at the educated pressure that he's putting on.
02:17Good stab to the body there from Middlemiss. And Morales, he's just trying to walk him down.
02:30He's putting that pressure on ever so slightly. And I guess we'll see that increase if Middlemiss
02:36allows him to as the rounds go by. This one scheduled for four. Four three-minute rounds
02:43in the featherweight division.
02:51Yeah, good lateral movement there. Tying him up as he comes.
02:55Just maybe hold that centre there a little bit more now and pop the jab from there.
02:58It's got to be up the jab.
03:06Good shot.
03:08Good. Staying switched on after these primbers where they're off.
03:11Oh, that's nice.
03:19Got a good opening round
03:20for Middlemiss. Pressure has been on
03:23but he's coped with it well.
03:28Rule number one.
03:47Never open the package.
03:49But I never do.
03:52What's your mission, man?
03:53Rule number two.
03:55No names.
03:56Ready for your next mission.
03:58The new Volkswagen Transporter.
04:17Ten seconds, Corners.
04:23Seconds out.
04:24Round two.
04:31Well, we're back to business
04:32here at the Co-op Live.
04:34Both fighters straight to that centre of that ring.
04:39Lovely jab to start there from Alpha.
04:42A little bit more fainting.
04:44Fantastic.
04:46Yeah, like Pearce said,
04:48could faint a shot out of the Mexican kid.
04:50Countered him.
04:50I've done a couple of round sparring with Alpha
04:52within a six-round spy.
04:53He's tired of coming through the six rounds good.
04:56So, I'm sure the four tonight will be fine.
05:00It looks like he's just trying to draw the Mexican in a little bit
05:03and then countering him when he does try to make that entrance.
05:06And he does it well, doesn't he?
05:08Yeah, because that'll make him not want to come as keen.
05:10You know, he can't just trot forward.
05:11Then he's feinting him up, drawing the shot.
05:13And if he can counter him, he won't want to come.
05:19It was interesting just observing the Middle Miss corner
05:22in the first round.
05:23I don't think there was barely a word muttered
05:26by either Jamie Moore and Nigel.
05:29They were just letting him do his stuff,
05:31work things out,
05:33and then gave him those instructions in between rounds.
05:36And Morales did catch Middle Miss there
05:38with a short left hook.
05:39And that is the sort of shot that he just needs to be careful of.
05:46Even though it's his debut,
05:47he looks very seasoned through the three.
05:58He looks disciplined, does Middle Miss.
06:03Yeah, he's got a lot of good fighters in the gym.
06:05Jamie's been about the game for a long time,
06:07and so is Nigel.
06:08So he'll be very disciplined.
06:10He'll know what his job is to do,
06:12and they'll stick to it.
06:31Morales has never been stopped.
06:34There are 11 defeats on his record,
06:37but nobody has managed to get him out of there.
06:40We actually saw him against Joseph Butler
06:43a few weeks ago on the Queensborough show
06:45down in Bournemouth,
06:46and he hit him with everything in the kitchen sink,
06:49and he just stuck his tongue out at him.
06:50He really enjoyed being in the pocket
06:53and fighting toe-to-toe.
06:55So I've got to say that Middle Miss
06:56is probably fighting the perfect fight
06:58against a fighter like this.
06:59Yeah, I agree, Darden.
07:01I think Morales is very clever at times,
07:06and even when he's in the inside,
07:08and that was how they might get hit.
07:10Good left, Dirk.
07:13Just as he took a tiny step back there,
07:15Middle Miss.
07:17Yeah, lovely right-handed tied him up there.
07:19He's boxing very clever here, Alfie.
07:20It's a good round, this.
07:23Lovely jab to the body then as well.
07:25Mixing it head and butter.
07:25Wow, that's...
07:50best feeling in the world.
07:52Is it, though?
07:53Is it really better than food ferment?
07:56That warm, fuzzy feeling
07:58of total food satisfaction.
08:00Like finishing the last bite
08:02of the flame-grove whopper from Burger King.
08:06He's right.
08:07Okay, see you later.
08:10Ta-ta.
08:17Ten seconds, Gourdes!
08:20Second's out!
08:26Round three!
08:31Well, looks like there's a
08:32little bit of grazing there
08:34on the right eye of Middle Miss,
08:36so a bit of a nick.
08:37What sort of information do you think
08:39he would have been given in that corner, Zach,
08:40in the round just gone?
08:43I don't think they'll have even mentioned it as such.
08:45I think Kelly will have worked on it.
08:46Jamie will have given his instructions
08:47for the next round and stay cool.
08:50You know, it's a cool corner.
08:51They stay compact and composed
08:53and he's come out here boxing nice again.
08:56And, Piers, when you're such a young,
08:58up-and-coming fighter
08:59and you're very early on into your career,
09:01what sort of information do you need
09:03when you're in there?
09:03You know, this is early on into his career.
09:05He doesn't need to be bombarded with stuff, does he?
09:08No, absolutely no way.
09:09He just needs to be patient.
09:12Coming out of the amateurs,
09:13it's a bit of a sprint,
09:14but he's got rounds, he's got time.
09:19Morales is seasoned, as you can see.
09:21He's clever.
09:21So, he just needs to be patient
09:23and pick your shots
09:24and keep moving as he is
09:25because he's boxing fantastic.
09:27Yeah, he is.
09:28He don't need to start taking any risks,
09:29just need to stick to what he's doing
09:31and getting a win.
09:34Morales, just 19 years old himself.
09:37They do start them young in Mexico.
09:38Turned over as a pro at 16 years old.
09:42Had a handful of fights
09:43and plenty of wins
09:44on some tough shows in Mexico.
09:47And then he's been
09:48working the away corner
09:50for a little while now
09:52and 22 bouts already
09:54at just 19.
09:57And he is educated.
10:00He knows his way around that boxing ring
10:01and he's making sure that
10:03Alfie Minimis
10:04has got his wits about him
10:06because he sneaks so straight shots through
10:08ever so cleverly, doesn't he?
10:11Yeah, it's the first time
10:12I've seen this Morales on the circuit
10:14and it's a tough fight
10:15to be having for Alfie.
10:16He's not come to roll over.
10:18He's come to give it a good go
10:19and he's as tough as he looks.
10:21He's hard as nails.
10:22You can see that.
10:24I was saying there about Alfie
10:26that he's got a bit of a mark
10:27on his right eye.
10:27If you look at Morales' left eye,
10:30he's got a bit of a nick there
10:31and something neat.
10:34It's a good observation.
10:35He's definitely got through with
10:36some stuff.
10:38Even though it doesn't look like
10:39he's doing the most aggressive of work,
10:40the work which he is doing
10:42is obviously having
10:42some sort of effect.
10:47Alfie finishing the exchange
10:48nice there.
10:54Slap removal is fantastic.
10:56Yeah, he can't see him
10:57to get him to Mexico.
10:58He can't pin him.
10:59It's nice.
11:01Lovely pivot round there.
11:03Really nice shot to the body
11:04then turn that right hand over
11:06upstairs.
11:07Upstairs,
11:07that worked beautifully.
11:12Big whipping left hook there
11:14from the Mexican.
11:16Yeah, he's boxing clever here,
11:17Alfie, though.
11:17He's not letting the Mexican set.
11:22Lovely shot.
11:22It's a strong end to the round
11:26for the Mexican.
11:28But Middlemess doing well
11:30to just cope with that pressure
11:32and carry on doing more
11:34of what he was doing before.
11:37Some good boxing there.
11:38Yeah, some very good boxing there.
11:42Sticking to the plan,
11:43doing what he's done
11:43in the first two rounds
11:44and it's working.
11:45At least you'll see it out
11:46now in this last round.
11:48And Pierce,
11:48when you've got a fighter
11:49like Morales,
11:51that kind of Mexican style
11:52walking forward constantly,
11:55that eventually has got to
11:56wear you down, hasn't it?
11:57It's got to tie you out.
11:58You've got to have some
11:59serious engine on you,
12:00haven't you?
12:00To be able to kind of just
12:01keep that fighter at bay
12:03for that long
12:04when their only motion
12:05is forward, right?
12:06Yeah, absolutely.
12:07That was a final round fight
12:08and the way Morales
12:09keep coming forward.
12:11I hope you have kick-stop you, son,
12:13because your feet
12:14are not more prolific about it.
12:17Ten seconds, corners.
12:19Pop the jab out,
12:20stab the other body
12:21and put it slow down
12:22as much as you can.
12:24Seconds out
12:24for the fourth
12:26and final round.
12:29Well, I'm sure
12:30that will be the instructions
12:32coming from
12:33the blue corner.
12:35Touch of the gloves
12:36and both fighters
12:37get straight back to action.
12:39This is our first
12:40bout of the evening.
12:41If you just joined us,
12:42whether you're watching
12:43on the DAZN feeds
12:44or if you're watching
12:44on the Queensbury feeds,
12:46welcome along.
12:47We've got six fights
12:48in total
12:49on the prelims
12:50before the main card starts
12:53live on DAZN
12:54from 7pm.
12:56You're joined by myself,
12:57Darren Rees,
12:58Zach Miller
12:59and Pierce O'Leary.
13:02Stick around
13:03because there are
13:03plenty of good names
13:05and loads
13:06of good fights
13:07coming this evening.
13:12Nearly took the lights out
13:14and Morales
13:14with that one.
13:15It's a cricket bowl
13:16of a punch,
13:16wasn't it?
13:17straight on the front foot
13:18this last round.
13:23He is,
13:24he's walking forward
13:25is Morales.
13:28But I like that,
13:29I like that he's not coming
13:30just to kind of
13:31sit still
13:32and just soak up
13:33the punches.
13:34he's coming to fight,
13:36he is,
13:37he's coming to fight
13:37as you see.
13:39Do you know what,
13:39Darden?
13:40This fight reminds me
13:41of my own debut.
13:43Tough,
13:44hard.
13:45Oscar Amador
13:46and Nigu Arga
13:48are a guy.
13:48He was tough
13:49and he turned
13:50the kitchen sink at me.
13:51And
13:52you learn so much
13:53from them kind of fights
13:54and knocking someone over.
13:55Yeah,
13:59those South American,
14:00Central American fighters,
14:02they
14:02really are
14:04the kind of
14:05have gloves
14:06and gum shield
14:07will travel
14:07and will box anybody
14:09in anybody's backyard
14:09and
14:10not many of them
14:11get stopped
14:12and if they do,
14:13it's not often
14:14that they get stopped.
14:15But Morales
14:16here in the
14:17last minute or so
14:19of the fourth
14:19and final round
14:20of this one.
14:22He's chasing him down.
14:25cut over Alfie's eye now
14:26but
14:27last round
14:27I'm sure he'll see it out.
14:30He'll learn more
14:31from this
14:31than he has done
14:32in any of his fights
14:33anyway.
14:34Tell you now.
14:39Middlemiss
14:40enjoying this
14:41just
14:41big smile
14:42when pokes his tongue
14:43out to
14:44friends and family
14:45and the crowd
14:46who have spent
14:47their hard-earned money
14:47to come and watch him.
14:49He's enjoying it.
14:53Yeah,
14:53he's on early doors
14:54and they've come out
14:54to support him.
14:56Pat Bolton.
15:08It's probably
15:09his four's cut
15:09and he's not panicking
15:10as much.
15:12Still staying calm,
15:13still boxing
15:13and he's at the
15:14middle and he's still
15:15brilliant.
15:17Yeah,
15:18he's staying very
15:18composed for a young man.
15:20Excellent.
15:20Good work here
15:24to finish
15:25this round off
15:26and the fight off
15:26for Middlemiss
15:28who hasn't got
15:29carried away
15:30at any point.
15:31He's clearly
15:31been caught.
15:33Definitely
15:33a learning fight
15:35like you guys
15:36have picked up on
15:37and he will
15:38go away
15:39and there will be
15:39plenty
15:40that he learnt
15:41about himself
15:42and I guess
15:43the game as well.
15:44Yeah,
15:44that's a performance
15:45system.
15:45Definitely
15:46happy for Blair.
15:47He's had his first
15:48cut,
15:49tough Mexican.
15:50Seen the fight out,
15:51boxed well,
15:52enjoyed that fight.
15:54And a first cut
15:55as well
15:56because that's all
15:56experience,
15:57isn't it?
15:58Yeah,
15:58of course.
15:58The blood might have
15:59been running in his eye
16:00just knowing you've got
16:00a cut when you feel
16:01it running down
16:02your face,
16:02you know.
16:03He stayed composed
16:04and stayed cool,
16:05not panicked.
16:06Brilliant.
16:06And you've got to
16:08love Morales.
16:08Look at a smile
16:09on his face.
16:10Giving us,
16:11we're assuming
16:12it's a thumbs up.
16:13He's got boxing gloves
16:14on but giving us
16:15a thumbs up
16:15at ringside.
16:22Well,
16:22Thomas Triber
16:23is posing ready
16:25with Steve Gray's
16:26scorecards
16:27and in a moment
16:29the music will go down
16:31and it will tell us
16:34how Steve Gray
16:36has scored this one
16:37and he's ready now.
16:44Ladies and gentlemen,
16:46after four rounds
16:47of boxing,
16:48our referee
16:49in charge,
16:49Steve Gray,
16:51scores the contest
16:5240 to 37
16:54for your winner
16:56and still undefeated
16:59Alfie Middlemiss.
17:04Well,
17:10Alfie Middlemiss
17:11gets the decision
17:11and moves to 3-0
17:13at just 21 years old.
17:16Had a really
17:16game and good
17:17opponent there
17:18in Alexander Morales.
17:20A super...
