00:01Up in the northeast corner of Ulster lies Port Stewart.
00:04Apart from being famous for its golf courses,
00:07this little seaside town has, since 1929,
00:10been the start and finishing point for Ireland's annual Northwest 200 motorcycle races.
00:16Run over a course of 11 miles, it has three classes,
00:19the 500, 350 and 250cc models,
00:22all racing at the same time,
00:24but with half minute intervals between the mass starts of the different classes.
00:29In the paddock, the usual pre-race excitement is everywhere,
00:32as the machines are checked and fuelled.
00:40Bob McIntyre, Norton, is undoubtedly favourite in the big class.
00:45Bob, always completely imperturbable at times of tension such as this.
00:51That's Bob Brown of Australia, I think,
00:54but as usual our cameraman hasn't got his mind on the job and it's hard to see.
00:59Hmm, I wonder just what Bob's thinking about.
01:16Number seven, that's Geoff Tanner,
01:18who's expected to be somewhere up on the leaderboard.
01:20Minutes to go.
01:23The riders' faces reflect their varying reactions.
01:25And as they roar away towards Henry's corner and the promenade,
01:27it's Bob Brown in the lead from Bob McIntyre.

03:22The quick as it is
03:24McIntyre's quicker
