00:00E-government services are being spectacularly ignored by EU citizens, but why is that?
00:11Laws, benefits, taxes, opening hours, public authorities' websites are indispensable,
00:17and yet, only 47% of people in the EU check them out.
00:22Bulgarians and Romanians do almost completely without,
00:26with only 14%, referring to e-government platforms in a 12-month period.
00:32Their popularity is also very low in Italy and Poland.
00:37Denmark, Finland and Cyprus are at the other end of the spectrum, with usage rates of 75% or above.
00:46Little e-government popularity might be connected to low digital literacy.
00:51The very same report shows that Romania, Bulgaria, Poland and Italy have some of the lowest basic digital skill levels in Europe.
01:00That means that, in these countries, less than half of the people are able to either send emails,
01:07search for information online, install software, protect their data or create some sort of content.
01:14The EU average, however, is not much higher.
01:17Only 56% of people aged 16 or above can perform at least one of those tasks.
01:25The goal would be to get to 80% by 2030.
01:44You're welcome.
