00:00Aaron, just a couple of days away now from Wembley and as club captain you're
00:06going to have the honour of leading the team out. First time in nearly a hundred
00:09years of football in Aldershot, the club gets to Wembley, just how excited are you?
00:13Yeah, I mean I'll lead the team out if they don't select me first and foremost, but yeah,
00:19the opportunity to go to that stadium with the history that's there and hopefully lead the group
00:24out would be a special, special day. Not just for me but for all the boys, you know, when you're a kid
00:29growing up playing football there's something you dream of doing so for us to be able to go there
00:34for this town means the world to us. And how's that build up been this week? Obviously it was
00:39great win on Monday against Yeovil and then how's it been since then really? Yeah I think the staff
00:44have done a really good job of kind of just keeping us grounded and keeping us present.
00:49It's been kind of business as usual in terms of training and preparation for Yeovil. We really
00:54wanted to win that game although we were mathematically safe at that point we felt
00:58that we needed a win to kind of give us some momentum going into that game against Spenny
01:02Moore at Wembley so it was great to get the win and then we had a day off come back in training and
01:07yeah the boys as you'd expect full of energy full of life and obviously training has been really
01:12sharp everybody wants to be in that shirt in the starting eleven which is good competition for places
01:17so yeah it's been pretty good. How do you balance sort of obviously treating obviously it's a big really big
01:23occasion but obviously presumably trying to also treat it and prepare like a normal game as well
01:27presumably trying to balance? Yeah I think obviously everyone's aware of the magnitude and what the
01:32game means. It's obviously fantastic that we've got the club there but we're not satisfied we want to
01:38go and win that game and Spenny Moore will feel exactly the same so we're going to have to be at our best
01:44and I think in terms of preparation we've done everything we normally do tomorrow we've got a
01:50little bit of change of venue with training but other than that it's literally been the same prep
01:55which I think is good because it keeps the squad you know in a routine and as players I think we
02:01like routine so yeah we just try and prepare as best we can and go and look around the stadium tomorrow
02:06which will be exciting but yeah it's not properly hit me yet that we're actually playing on Sunday but
02:11I'm sure once we get out on the pitch on on Saturday then you know that energy and those
02:16nerves those those exciting nerves start kicking in. Yeah and that sort of look around tomorrow that
02:20will really help sort of prepare for Sunday when it really is getting yourself acclimatized and that
02:24sort of thing. Yeah going into that environment it'll be good to get a first glance at it before we
02:29actually go out and play on the Sunday so yeah hopefully that will settle a few of the young boys nerves
02:35and we can just kind of roll in on the Sunday with a job to do get the job done and then hopefully
02:40celebrate with the fans after. And on Sunday when those fans you know so many sort of tickets sold
02:46you know over 17 000 to walk out and see that sort of sea of red and blue that's going to be really special
02:51isn't it? Yeah I mean it gives you an idea of the size of the club you know I think we've been averaging
02:572 500 maybe more at home this year really well supported team in the National League and
03:03to have 18 000 people at Wembley it gives you an idea of what this club potentially is capable of so
03:11if we could get you know even 10 of those to come on a more regular basis then we'd be one of the best
03:16support teams in the division but listen we want to play some good football so our fans you know not
03:23only have a great day at Wembley but they have a great day that they're going to remember and see
03:26us lift the trophy. Yeah it's sort of special memories really isn't it you know it's obviously
03:30special memories being there but chances obviously create more memories isn't it on the day? Yeah
03:34100% and I think that's that's what we play football for there's definitely more bad times in
03:41football than good times you know I've been in the game quite a long time now I'm 31 so I think when
03:46these good times come around you really have to cherish them because they don't come around too often
03:50I've had two promotions in my career but I think if we win at Wembley on on Sunday this will eclipse
03:56anything that I've managed to do so yeah I think if we can create those special memories for ourselves
04:02and our families and the fans then everybody's going to have a great day. And it's obviously been a great run
04:08obviously a great semi-final here against Woking and promises to be a great final. Presumably you're
04:13concentrating on how you want to play but sort of you know presumably you're aware of spending more
04:17I mean they've obviously had a great run knocking out Rochdale, Sutton, Boston so you're sort of yeah
04:21aware of them obviously and what they're going to bring. Yeah we won't we won't be um taking
04:26spending more for granted at all it means nothing really that they play in a division below us you
04:32look at the scalps they've taken a few names that you've just mentioned there and Rochdale are a top
04:38top side in our league about to go into the playoffs so we know the weapons that they possess we the staff
04:43always um do their homework on the opposition so it's it's no different in in terms of that so
04:50yeah we've we've watched um some of their games and lots of clips highlighted some areas where
04:55they're particularly strong and then some some places where we think we might be able to to impose
05:00our game on them so I think yeah it's going to be two teams who are going to be absolutely desperate
05:05to to win so I think it's about the team that can handle the occasion best and ultimately you know play
05:12the better football and come out on top. And as you say you've had a good week of prep now
05:15massively sort of all the boys are just really sort of raring to go and looking forward to it now.
05:19Yeah that's it I think the energy in the group this week you can see like the excitement level
05:23um so it's just our job really to kind of contain the excitement and and kind of channel that in a
05:29really positive way which I think at the minute we've kind of got spot on and all credit to the staff
05:34as well for the way that they've planned you know their prep so yeah everybody's really buzzing and
05:39um I feel most for the injured boys you know the ones that have been here and out on the battlefield
05:45every week churning out game after game and then we've had a couple that have unfortunately picked
05:50up um a couple of niggles and injuries like Ryan Jones for example against Woken in the league
05:56feel for players like him so um we'll be trying to get us over the line so those boys you know get a medal
06:02and they can have something special to remember the day by as well.
