00:00You've been able to play over 30 games in the Premier League,
00:04only five of yours through injuries and other things.
00:09Does that tell its story in itself for this season?
00:13That they had a greater consistency of selection?
00:17For whatever reason, you were unable to match that.
00:21Do you think that was a factor in the final?
00:23But that's a big thing to win trophies, you know,
00:26and they've done that extremely well.
00:28And they have managed to maintain that consistency,
00:32that level of players, a system, a coach,
00:35a stadium that has created, again, an incredible atmosphere consistently for them.
00:40So you need a lot of ingredients if you don't win the Premier League.
00:44And that's the difficulty of it.
00:46And it's true that this season we never found that consistency
00:50because of the issues that we had.
00:52But I don't want to use it as an excuse, that's for sure.
00:56Because we're the same thing, we were the only team.
00:58We have the best league in the world, yeah?
01:00We all agree.
01:01We were the only team in the semi-finals.
01:05That's the level.
01:07Sorry, I wasn't suggesting...
01:09No, I know, I know, I know.
01:11I know, I know.
01:13I'm sorry, I didn't mean that.
01:15As an issue, does that suggest that you need to have a squad that's maybe more of a bust?
01:24Is it a training issue?
01:27Is it just the fact that towards the end of this season
01:30you couldn't make the changes you would have liked to make
01:33because those players weren't available to come on the pitch?
01:38Is it in that sort of pinch point of the last six weeks?
01:42Is that when it really counts?
01:44It's a lot of factors to that.
01:45We knew from the beginning of the season that our squad was super short.
01:49And being super short, we have some players with high probability of injury
01:55because that's what they had in the last few seasons.
01:59So we knew that and we could not do anything about it.
02:02Liverpool have won the league pretty comfortably in the end.
02:07Without Arnyslopp changing too much,
02:10I mean the team is pretty much the team that you have in the club have for a couple of years,
02:16but they have played with maybe more control this season than under Klopp.
02:21You're very much a controlled team.
02:24You control a lot of matches.
02:29Is there a moment when you have to go beyond that to win?
02:33Or does Liverpool prove that actually just keep doing what you've done,
02:37keep knocking on the door,
02:39and eventually it must open because of what you've got at the baseline?
02:45Well, at the end they've done what Arnyslopp has done.
02:48They've been very intelligent.
02:49They have all the platform.
02:50It is a team that has been competing and winning trophies
02:53throughout the last ten years.
02:54It's nothing new.
02:55So he's added his values.
02:57I think he maintained a lot of the things.
02:59He's always given his fingerprints to a lot of things that are very, very good as well.
03:04And the most important thing, he got the best out of the players.
03:07And the players that have to make the difference,
03:09they were there constantly making the difference for them.
03:12And that's capital to win any major trophy.
03:16People do say that if you spend the most and you have the biggest wage bill,
03:20you're going to win.
03:22Do you want to do it a different way?
03:24Or would you like to have the biggest wage bill?
03:27It's not different.
03:28I think we have to do it our way and we have to be authentic with ourselves
03:32and what we believe and what we can do as well and what we've been doing.
03:36That's it.
03:37Thanks, Martin.
03:38Last cover from John Westbrook.
03:39Hi.
03:40Five years ago, you won the cup and Liverpool won the title,
03:44but neither of you could celebrate because of COVID.
03:47They finally had their part.
03:49Does that inspire you and make you feel a bit envious?
03:53Is that something you really want?
03:56Yeah.
03:57Yes, big time.
03:58I really want it because that's what this club needs
04:03and that this club is so close to achieving it
04:06and now we need to make it happen.
04:08We talked about that many times
04:10and I will continue for sure with the same drive or more
04:14to try it till we achieve it.
04:16Just the fact that all your direct rivals have won something
04:23before Newcastle or a game away from winning something,
04:27does that make this season even more fittersweet?
04:30Or does it not matter what other clubs do?
04:34Well, obviously they win the competition that you want to win,
04:37yes, but after that it's not in our hands.
04:41Does it matter to an Arsenal manager what Spurs do, for example?
04:45For me, I have enough looking at my own garden.
04:48Thank you, John.
04:50Given that you've got such a good platform…
04:54Last one.
04:55This is the last one.
04:56Can we expect this summer to be a huge spending summer
05:01on two or three absolute quality players?
05:04You've got everything else.
05:06We will do everything that we can to improve the team
05:09and especially to improve the players that we already have
05:12whatever the market offers that we can make ourselves better
05:15and give ourselves, again, a better chance to win.
05:18For sure, we'll try to do it.
05:22Thanks, guys.
05:23Good job.
05:24Good job, sir.
05:25Good job, sir.
05:26Good job, sir.
05:29Well, thank you very much.
05:35Thank you very much.
05:37Yeah.
05:41that she said.
